Name: Taylor "Tay" Hirano
Age: 24
Appearance: Tay stands at about 5'4" (162.56 centimeters), and is of average build. Her skin is pale, and never seems to burn or tan. She has multiple scars on her hands, forearms, and back from brushes with raptors.
Personality: Usually quiet, deadpan, and snarky, Taylor does her best to maintain a hard, unshakable exterior when dealing with other humans. She understands raptor behavior very well, but finds it hard to understand certain social cues. Despite this, she has a soft spot for children, and has put her life in danger more than once because of a group of survivors having kids with them. She usually travels alone, though she'll temporarily join groups if it's necessary.
Skills: Marksmanship (can hit all but the fastest and smallest targets), knowledgeable about raptor behavior, understands basic firearm maintenance and repair
Equipment: Semi-automatic rifle,
revolver, "
Ms. Harding", various knives, whetstones, 5.56×45mm NATO ammunition, .44
Backstory: A through-and-through military brat, Taylor has almost always been surrounded by raptors. Her father worked in the USMC training and working alongside raptors, and even served a few tours as a handler, only retiring from active duty after losing a leg to an IED. However he continued training them for police and security contractors; even with a prosthetic, he was able to show raptors who was boss. In this time, Tay learned quite a bit about raptor behavior, and has an almost intuitive understanding of them. By the time she was sixteen, she knew how to deal with some of the larger breeds safely, and was looking to follow in her father's footsteps. However, everything went to hell before she could get certified. Her beloved pet Gunner began acting strangely. At first, he would hide and avoid Taylor. Then Taylor would wake up with Gunner on the bed, staring intently at her. Then... he became violent. Taylor came home to an eerily quiet apartment. To her horror, the neighbor she paid to walk and exercise Gunner lay in the middle of the living room, his throat torn and stomach torn open. Gunner sat next to the body, claws and muzzle bloody. The once sweet, affectionate raptor turned on Taylor next, and after grabbing a knife from the kitchen to defend herself, she was forced to kill her pet. She soon learned that this was happening all over the planet, and promptly left the city to return to her parents' home. Unfortunately, by the time Taylor arrived, they had both been killed by a pack. After giving them a funeral, she gathered what supplies she could, and has been on the move ever since.
Other: - Has a rather... unique sense of fashion. In her words: "It's the end of the world. Who cares if I decide to dress the way I do?"
- Has had to eat raptor meat on several occasions to survive. Lyres taste good, but anything bigger tastes pretty bad.
- Despite everything that's happened, she doesn't hate raptors. She views them as animals behaving on instinct, and she is quick to notice when their behavior is off. On the flipside, she distrusts nearly every human she meets (though kids are the exception).
- Is terribly afraid of arachnids and insects.
