Appearance:

Standing at a comfortable 5’6”, Ella tends towards heeled boots to accentuate her lithe figure, but she swaps for flatter ones when on the road. Her blond hair reaches mid-back, and she prefers a heavy parka over any amount of layers and sweaters, though she wears them all in the cold. She’s often found with a kind smile, and she maintains a carefully curated appearance that only seems effortless.

Background:

Born and raised in Saffron City as the only child of two middle-class parents in fields barely related to Pokemon, Ella’s desire to become a trainer blossomed and grew through her childhood as she followed elite trainers on the screen and in the news. She quickly realized that it took more than just a strong team to make a successful trainer, and she’s frequented trainer schools ever since, brushing up on the basics while internalizing lessons from the screen for the nonessential plusses. Besides being decently palatable, there was being likable, standing for strong ideals, and having an ‘angle’ to attract an audience. Since she figures she has ample time to find an angle, she’s focusing on the other aspects at the moment, steadily working up to be a suitable public figure. After all, she wanted more than just a simple trainer income and a life on the road, and if being able to train Pokemon and inspire others was part of the package, then even better.

Personality:

Ella’s a pretty picture. Her smiles and manners give credit to her image of being an all-around nice girl, and she backs this up with her kindness to those around her. Breaking up her refined image is a penchant for klutziness, from slipping and tripping on nothing in particular to following through on silly ideas. Aside from that, she might make a few deadpan statements or light teases here and there, but none of those seem intentional on her part.

This is only when she has company, though; alone, Ella’s more subdued, more calm and collected. She’s one who thinks before she jumps, as much as she acts like she’s one who simply jumps, and the only time this might show to others is when she works with her Pokemon. While she would smile and apologize for any outcome in her favor, citing beginner’s luck or good fortune, it’s usually anything but. That said, she truly does value her friends and Pokemon as well as honor and dedication. It’s just honesty she has trouble with since she finds that it’s often easier to gain someone’s trust when she’s actively trying to, and actively trying to might mean a few white lies here and there. But no harm in a little dishonesty if it makes someone happy, right?

As Ella’s first Pokemon, Quinn is and continues to be a grounding presence in Ella’s life, helping Ella in more ways than she can count. She has a quiet disposition and will often choose to watch scenes play out rather than comment, though she’s able to assert her presence when needed. Supporting Ella and her teammates is something she does well as the kind, mature personality on the team, and she’s the closest thing the team has to a mom.

Fabs is fabulous and that should be obvious from his name. Ella saw him dancing under the moonlight on one of Mt. Moon’s ledges and was instantly smitten, pleading that he come along on her journey, so he deigned to agree. He graces her team with a flair that it would certainly otherwise lack, and though he doesn’t love battling, he does enjoy the spotlight, and that alone is often enough.

Appearance:

Lys has always been tall. Growing up on Cinnabar Island the young Pokémon trainer was the tallest girl in town. At sixteen-years-old she stands at 5’10” and she’s still growing. As someone who grew up camping in the rocky regions of the island Ely is rather hardy, preferring a camper’s aesthetic with some flare of personality. Top it all with a black trainer’s cap and everything seems to come all together. She just hopes she doesn’t have another growth spurt anytime soon.

Background:

The daughter of a constantly absent Competitive Pokémon Trainer, Lys has always felt like she was on her own. Her father, as great of a parent as he has tried to be, hasn’t really had the time to raise her actively due to his work as the town’s leading police detective. But it is what it is.

Growing up on Cinnabar Island has treated Lys well enough and throughout her childhood finding ways to entertain herself had never been particularly difficult. Camping was a big part of her interests, but also pokémon-related hobbies. She had no interest in being anything less than a breeder, competitive trainer, or ranger. Something that had a component in touch with the world around them. There was no way she was going to be a desk clerk at the Devon Corporation or something equally mundane. But as years in the Pokémon Academy in Viridian City would come to teach her, she wasn’t a “human Pokédex” or particularly the most brilliant. Maybe because of her weird relationship with her mother she sought to follow in her shadow. Maybe she just knew what she had to do. She studied hard for the exams, used her knowledge as a camper, and got her certification at sixteen, the youngest age available for certification.

It’s all up to her now to get out of that shadow. Maybe someday she’ll confront her mother and dethrone her.

Personality:

Lys is bold, impulsive, and confident. Sometimes she’d say she’s too confident for her own good.

Normally easy-going, it’s hard to pass up the fact that Lys is a bit of a firebrand. She’s feisty, well-humored, and quick to action. While she isn’t particularly book-smart, she’s no idiot and that can be attested to when one considers her knowledge of cooking, survivalism, and tactical awareness. In a tight situation, she’s probably the girl you want swinging, though sometimes people find her a bit too much to handle.

Sydnee "Syd" Carro

Appearance:

Seemingly stuck at 5'3'' and with a lithe frame, Sydnee is as average as it goes. Her short, messy mop of a hairstyle is a sandy blonde, while her irises are closer to a gold-like hazel. For the time being, she often prefers lighter yet fashionable clothes, such as capris, tees, and the ever-popular running shoes.

Background:

Born the daughter of a well-known Ranger and Operator duo from Almia, Sydnee has a lengthy legacy to live up to. Due to her parents being at the top of their class, however, much of Sydnee's childhood was spent being bounced around from place-to-place. Some days she'd be stuck at the Ranger Union bothering her father and his colleagues, whilst on other days it meant travelling the globe with her mother on one of her many quests given to a ranger of her status.

In turn, Sydnee would foster a love for exploration, Pokémon, and of course, the Rangers themselves. She wanted to be like her parents; to be a hero to the world of Pokémon. However, given the Ranger School's strict requirements, Sydnee has found herself forced to wait until she reaches the age of eighteen to apply as a Student Ranger in her home region of Almia. With two years being a long time from now, Sydnee has taken itself upon herself to explore the world in her mother's footsteps, helping where she can until the time comes for her to return to Almia.

Personality:

Put simply, Sydnee is a walking disaster, having inherited both of her parents' personalities. Like many destined to be Rangers, she is the type rearing to go and ready to leap into action full of bright, beaming confidence. Doing her best is of great importance to Sydnee, which comes at a cost of taking failure directly to heart. It'll eat away at her, driving Sydnee into a depressive slump that she often has to fight herself out of in order to improve and bring her A game the next time around. Half-assing a job will never make a good Ranger out of someone; a fact Sydnee is well aware of in her many travels.

Jensen "JJ" Joy

Appearance:

Broad shoulders and with a frame of five-eight, JJ is a well-grown (and still growing) young man. He's often outfitted in plain tee's, a pair of jeans or khaki joggers, and sporting a jacket of some kind. Inheriting the signature trait from the Joy family gene pool, JJ has a head full of rose pink hair, but with a pair of indigo eyes, compliments of his mother dark haired, chocolate eyed mother.

Background:

JJ was born and raised in Celadon City. His father is a professor at Celadon University, where he teaches and lectures on Pokemon biology, and his mother a botanist who spends half her days at the university and the other half at the Celadon City gym. For as long as he could remember, JJ spent his childhood at the Celadon City gym, running around and playing with the Pokemon there, having adopted a strong affinity to them. He loved watching all the trainers who came and took on the gym challenge, expressing that if he got the chance he would take on the challenge himself.

At the age of ten, JJ was enrolled by his father to the Pokémon School in Alola, to give him an opportunity to grow and learn as much about Pokemon as possible. His father hoped to ignite a passion for Pokemon medicine in his son, to follow down their family path, but instead it grew the flame of Pokemon battling instead.

Now graduated, he returned back to Kanto in hopes of starting an adventure to become one of the strongest Pokemon trainers from the region, hoping to one day return to Alola to take on the Island challenges.

Personality:

As a member of the Joy family, JJ didn't just inherit their signature pink hair, but also their genuinely kind, earnest, and honest outlook and personality. JJ is extremely passionate about Pokemon like most Joy's, but has found a fondness for Pokemon battling, opposite of the rest of his family tree. A dreamer who wants to soar the highest of peaks and who can be as stubborn as a tauros when it comes to his dream, JJ honestly just wants to make his family proud, no matter where he ends up.
