A world gone black and white.Hook Description
The coming and going of years progressively seems to blur. Friends grow distant and eventually disappear, family members die, life grows more bleak with each passing day with no sense that it would ever slow down. You hold onto the little inconsequential things, old keepsakes, minute hobbies, anything that could distract you from the inevitable truth. That you would live a short, meaningless life until eventually [your] time to pass on came.
One day, you awoke from your half-sleep with a sudden drive. The drive to [end] the meaninglessness once and for all. How you planned to do it didn't really matter, but the spark of small embers in your soul gave you the most confidence you've felt in years. Every part of that day felt more right than the collective of your entire life, and the moment of absolution couldn't come any sooner. But then it eventually did, and rather than following through with the conviction that you had once felt like a fire in your gut - you falter. But the moment your psyche weakens and you begin to feel the bottled upon emotions begin to funnel up and out of your mouth, [something] claws at the back of your mind.
"[Find them.]" Whispered the disembodied voice.
Time seemed to slow to a halt. As your eyes danced around the room in a nervous panic you'd come to find that you were no longer [there] anymore. Instead you were somewhere alien to everything you knew. The world itself was black and white, senses were deafened, a constant fog loomed over your thoughts. It was almost like everything here was sapped dry of its life, a dead hollowed out world that was perfect for somebody like you. Eventually, you'd leave the place where you had planned to make the big decision only to find that you weren't the only inhabitant of this dead world. Other people, other things, [twisted] shells and contorted monstrosities that may have once been humans but have long since devolved to what could only be described as demons. With all of these strange developments bombarding you from every direction, you would obviously have a slew of questions. But there was one that seemed to burn like a fresh brand upon the mind.

Non-Spoiler Info
You will be playing [something] or someone that lived a less-than-fulfilling to downright traumatic life. Despite the toll and toil of painstakingly striving to make something of themselves, they do ultimately fail and with nothing left to live for - opt to make a terrible decision. Whether they had support from people around them or not, something leads them to the very moment it takes place. But as soon as the character starts going through the hurricane of turmoil that soon comes after, everything around them changes.
And that is the moment the story truly begins.
The players will come to find that in the [Grayscale World] nothing is quite what it seems. Each character will have to grapple with demons of both physical and psychological type as they traverse through the unknown, and answers to the onslaught of questions that will surely arise. The genres that [Grayscale] will be delved into will be mostly horror/mystery with a sprinkle of action here and there to keep you on your toes. But the focus itself will definitely be on character growth, and relationships, rather than some epic adventure scenario to tell stories about for years to come. Themes like [Depression, Abuse, Trauma, Suicide, and other not-so-gucci themes] will be brought up along the journey and because of that I'd strong recommend anyone with sensitivity to these topics avoid this narrative for their own mental health.
Some influences for the narrative of this RP are the following: Omori, Yume Nikki, Madoka Magica , Death Parade, and Junji Itoโs works.
