"Well, let's pay Kurt a visit," Liam said. As he started to leave he felt a tap on his shoulder.
"Excuse me, young man." a voice said. It belonged to a man with a thin mustache. "You seem like a fine young trainer, I'm going to let you in on a secret."
"Liam knowing full well that this was a con man known to fool unsuspecting people into buying very weak pokemon for a large sum of Pokedollars, decided to humor the guy and see what kind of scam he is pulling.
"So, what is this secret?" Liam asked. "I overheard you saying something about going to this city's fine gym for a battle. But, what you need to help you against Bugsy is a great flying-type. I have such a thing right here." He held up a cage with a Hopip that was green, but not the right shade of green to be shiny. "This here is a Hopip. While they are fairly common here in Johto, it is rare in the fact that it has an unusual coloration. A very rare phenomna that only happens in around one out of every 10,000 Pokemon. I can part with this rare beauty for a low, low sum of 800 Pokedollars. For an extra 1,000 I will throw in a custom painted pokeballs to match the unusual coloration of this Pokemon's final evolution of Salamance. That's right! this little green ball turns into a powerful dragon, believe it or not!"
"Really, this little guy becomes a dragon?" Liam said in mock excitement.
"Yes! now, what do you say? Shall I wrap this shiny Hopip up for you today?"
It was at this point Liam dropped the facade. "You realize you're talking to not just a regional Champion, but this region's Champion, right? I know full well that Hopip doesn't become a Salamance. Ontop of that," Liam reached into the cage and rubbed the Hopip's head. "This Pokemon is only painted green, and it's not the right shade of green to be shiny." Liam yanked the cage away from him. "I want you to get out, and don't let me catch you selling Pokemon again"
The salesman quickly fled from the Pokemon Center. Liam washed the Hopip off and released it into the wild.
"So, shall we get going?"
