Kay nodded, glad that Serena was confident in her ability to help John and save his life. She listened to the instructions being thrown at them all, making note of the ones to her and knew she could do that. Fia and Chas both nodded, with Fia wasting no time in rushing off upstairs and heading to Josh and Trish, banging on their door. "Josh! Wake up!" She called through.

"There's another room, it has a massive table you can use. It's on this floor but I'll have to carry him there" Chas replied after taking a few milliseconds to think if there was anywhere, coming to the remembrance that he seemed to have of John having another room he sometimes used, and that the mill House would no doubt conjure another room for them even if there wasn't one right now. He just didn't bother with disclosing that information right now as it wasn't important. He also figured the girls would soon learn for themselves that the mill House wasn't exactly a normal house.

Kay grabbed the tools that were available to them at the moment, whilst Chas picked up John. "Follow me" Chas stated, and began to take John to the room with the large flat table he was thinking of. Once in the room, Kay steadied her hands enough to create a flame to cleanse the tools, putting each one down as she did to cool off.

Serena followed and saw Chas laying John down so she nodded and went to scrub. She took a deep breath, pulling all her medical knowledge to the front of her mind.

John coughed weakly and looked around muttering “Chas…”

Chas looked down at his mate, worried for his life even though he was keeping it together for the sake of everyone else. "What is it mate?" He asked him, noting how Serena was going to scrub up so she didn't contaminate anything or risk infection to John. Never had he been so thankful for knowing someone who had decent medical knowledge until now.

Kay tried to not look at Chas and John, instead just keeping her ears focused on the two of them talking. She knew if she looked over she wouldn't be able to hold it together and right now she needed to keep her kind focused.

"What is it Fia?" Josh asked as he opened the bedroom door. "It's dad, he's hurt real bad and Serena really needs your help to save him" Fia replied, trying to not cry and make herself incapable of being understood. "Okay, okay...just take deep breaths, I'll go down and find her" he reassured Fia, but she didn't find it reassuring in the slightest. She knew her very existence rested on her father pulling through. Josh threw a hoodie on that was flung on the back of the door and rushed downstairs as Fia went in the opposite direction to find Trish and check on Drake.

Serena walked back in as John said “can…someone…sit with Fia during this? I don’t…want her to be…alone…it’s going to be…” Serena smiled as she rested a hand on his shoulder.

“Yes, it’s going to be fine. I can handle this. Kay thank you for fire cleaning those. Kay…I don’t think you want to be in here for this. Not if I have to open him up…”

Trish was curled up in the room with Drake somehow.

In some ways, Kay wanted to stay and be there for John but in other ways she wanted to be anywhere but there. It also took her by surprise when John made a point to think about Fia and request someone stayed with the teenager. Had he almost bonded with their future kid already? Was he already one step ahead of her emotionally about the whole prospect of having a kid? She mentally shook the questions from her head, knowing now wasn't the time to be panicking about all of those things. "I'll go sit with Fia" she said once Serena suggested about leaving the room. "I'm not far if you need me...any of you" she told the room, making sure to get one last glance at John before exiting the room and going to find Fia, crossing paths with Josh in the process. She gestured to the room with her hand and with a simple nod, Josh headed in. "I'm here to help" he stated as a form of greeting.

Upstairs, Kay looked for Fia, eventually finding her in the room with Drake and Trish. Seeing Trish having gone to Drake when they were preoccupied gave Kay a sense of relief and calm for a brief moment before turning her attention to Fia. "He's gonna be okay kiddo" she told her, but she got no reply from Fia, instead all she got was a half assed nod. She also noted how Fia's leg was bouncing rapidly on the spot from where the teenager sat, biting the skin around her nails.

Serena rolled her neck and took a deep breath. She looked at the tools on her right and said “just like riding a bike…” then she started to look over the injuries closely and carefully, marking places she could tell there was more damage. She worked like a detective and artist at the same time, studying and marking.

She said “Josh, I need you to make notes of where I’m marking. Chas? I need the hard liquor in here. John will need it”

Josh and Chas both watched Serena prepare herself for what she was convinced she needed to do. When they each got given their orders, they nodded before Josh went to write down each place Serena marked and Chas went to grab some hard liquor for John. Coming back, Chas opened the bottle in preparation for John, "were ready for when you are" Josh said as he noted everything down.

Kay leaned against the wall and folded her arms across her chest as she waited on the others to help John downstairs. She didn't know how to console Fia as she could barely co sole herself at the moment. Every few moments, she looked across at Trish and Drake to make sure Drake was still alright then over at Fia to see how she was holding up. "what if he's not okay?" Fia finally spoke up quietly, "he's John Constantine, he'll be okay. He's the most stubborn fool I've ever met. I don't know many people that will gladly fight all kinds of evil day in day out and still be the kind of person he is. He's arrogant but a good soul. He's also a damn fighter. He'll be okay" Kay replied.

Serana nodded and said “all done…” she picked up the blade and said “Chas. Give him a sip. This is going to hurt…”

John flinched weakly and said “it’s…okay…I’m ready…”

Serena nodded and started the cut and John hissed in pain.

Trish stirred and opened her eyes. “Hey…what’s going on?”

Chas held the bottle to John's lips so he could take a sip of the strong alcohol, hoping it would help to some degree. He hated seeing his best mate in this state and he could only imagine what the girls must be feeling as they waited wherever they decided to wait.

"Hey Trish" Kay greeted as she heard the young girl wake up and ask what was happening. "John got hurt, Serena and Josh with Chas are helping him downstairs. We're waiting up here because it's not pretty down there right now. So I need you stay with us okay?" She explained.

John swallowed the liquid and gasped in pain as Serena was working to repair the damage done. It was a mess. A lot of internal issues and a lot of bleeding. She nodded and muttered “like an elephant sat on his chest…”

Trish nodded and sat up. “I’m sorry he got hurt…”

Chas took the bottle back once John had taken a swig of the liquor. He stayed by his best friend's side, knowing they had gone through a lot worse together, or at least, he liked to think they'd gone through worse than this. Josh stayed near Serena but enough out the way so he wasn't a nuisance to her, helping when she needed it, whether it handing her tools or anything more hands on. "Hellhounds have a surprisingly heavy hit" Chas said with a sigh, still wondering how Fia came out as well as she did after they heard the loud scream from her.

Kay nodded at the kind words by Trish, finding it sweet she said such things. "Thanks kiddo... he'll be okay" she replied, hoping she would be correct and things really would be okay. Fia remained seated where she was, riddled with anxiety in her mind and body, too focused on whether her dad would survive or not to take notice of the lingering aching pain in her ankle, despite a shadow having earlier fixed it before she could stop it. She always had the lingering aching pain for a while as her body adjusted to being supernaturally healed.

Serana nodded and said “if my shadows had been there in the start he would have been shielded…I was too slow…” she was working hard; using her shadow to start the next step. Her mind going double time.

Trish nodded then they heard a groan. Drake was trying to wake up turning his head.

"now isn't the time to think like that Serena. We kept you out of the loop for a reason" Chas told her, reminding her that they purposely didn't say anything to her to keep her safe. Her not knowing any sooner was down to their actions, not hers. Josh nodded at what Chas said, feeling glad that they kept Serena out of their little mission for once as it meant she could properly get rest and feel like she rested well once she awoke.

Hearing the groan, all eyes turned to Drake, Fia being the one to instantly to stand up and walk over to his bedside. "Hey sleepy head" she said softly, deciding to try and focus on him and not the million thoughts rushing through her head. She needed to try and not think about the possibility of her existence vanishing.

Serena nodded slowly as she worked and she said “this was fast and painful…they wanted to hurt hard. Was it two hounds?” She looked up, her shadows still working.

Drake groaned weakly and opened his eyes. “What…happened…”

"three hounds" Chas clarified after listening to Serena speak. "Fia killed one before it could land an attack on any of us. It was...seriously impressive." He explained in more detail. "But one hound went for John whilst one was stalking Fia. From what we could hear, she got it in the forest area" he then added. As he thought back on the whole scenario, it baffled him all the more how they all got out alive, and seeing Fia use magic from both her parents all that more incredible.

Fia was glad that Drake finally opened his eyes as she got up and sat beside him. "A lot. We still don't fully understand what happened with you yesterday but this morning we stopped the tracking link through the leylines. But...." Fia began explaining, before feeling a lump in her throat as she tried to get her words out. "They got attacked by hellhounds. John's hurt badly but Serena and the others are working on helping him" Kay finished Fia's words for her.

Serena nodded and was starting her sewing and repair work as John grunted in pain. “I’m sorry John I don’t have anything to knock you out safely…Chas did he ever hit his head?”

Drake sat up a bit and stared at her. “John…wait, mom is fixing him up? Like opened him up?” Trish tilted her head and Drake said “Fia…your father in the future has scars like that…”

Chas felt bad for John having too through the pain without any relief. He just hoped for a while that he wouldn't have to go through this all over again and it'd be a long time before it did happen. At the question asked, he had to think for a moment. "I'm not entirely sure to be honest. He hit a tree as he flew backwards so it's possible he did I guess. I was busy helping keeping Fia safe" he admitted.

Kay wondered what it was about what she said that made Drake stare at her in such a manner, until that is when he asked the questions he did. She nodded her reply as he turned to Fia to tell her the realisation he had come to. Fia listened and thought about those words carefully, before going wide eyed and a glimmer of hope found its way back into her. "You're right! He does! He's gonna be okay!" She said back before hugging Drake out of habit.

Serena cursed and said “josh can you move the light to help Chas. Chas I need you to check his eyes. I can’t pull my shadows to check his head yet…I need to know if he could have a brain bleed or not” John groaned again, not liking where this was going.

Drake grunted as she did then said “he should be…but it makes me wonder about our part in it…if this happened before…what did we change then?”

Chas didn't like what Serena was possibly implying after he gave his answer about the hit to the head. Josh however agreed to do so and moved the light toward John's eyes so Chas could check for any possible signs of possible internal head injuries. "Tell me what to look for Serena" Chas said as he looked John over. "John do you remember hitting your head at all?" He asked him.

Fia let go of him, not wanting to hurt him when he groaned. Hearing him think out loud made her sigh and run a hand through her hair. "I...I don't know. We must have changed mum going dark...right?" She theorised, or more accurately, hoped. "But, what if dad getting hurt is linked to it?' she hesitated in asking, but the question was now swirling round in her mind.

John nodded and said “I did…I blacked out” Serena said as she kept working “eye reaction to light. Sluggish? Blood in the eye?”

Drake held up a hand and said “your mom had a scar on her ankle from where mom had to fix her up as well.”
