@SleepingSilence I bought Anthem only to find out I paid for a game that's been bloody abandoned by the studio, and I instantly regret it. Other than that I'm glad I can play Black Desert on my Ps4 without a psn subscription, and it looks fun. I'll find out tonight. You play any other mmo's on the side?
@SleepingSilence You should totally play FF14 again, when I uh repay my subscription. Or buy Black Desert, it's on sale. Goooo buuuuuyy iiiiiiit, you waaaant tooo buuuuy it. When I pooooooost you wiiilll buuuy iiiiit.
@SleepingSilence I've read it isn't a necessity to do PvP and the single-player is actually fun. Plus I play so you know it'll be a good time, like when I was in your clan in Warframe haha lol. It's hella pretty game too.
@SleepingSilence I believe it's cross-platform but don't quote me on that. Just checked it is YAY so if you play on PC i'll still be able to play with you. I'm not a huge fan of gender locking classes but that's only if you play Elf, Giant or Shai. I'll prolly go human. I could start playing rn but the download is still going for all data and I'd rather play a game fully downloaded.
Ah, I played Black Desert Online for a fair while before I decided I needed another MMO break. Partial to Barbarian myself.
Yes, there is PVP but it is level gated and honestly not as daunting as it sounds. We had several people in our group who were afraid of PVP as a concept (and I mean afraid), and they still got along fine with some tweaked farm routes. Two played Shai in fact.
Lots of trading/side nonsense to spend your time on.
Best part of the game is the character creator IMO. I used to make some real nasty looking abominations.
@Lithfangel Yeah I've seen the gallery either consists of Thicc Dark Knights or nightmare fuel giants. Me personally I think I'll make a Wizard for my first character.
@Dark Cloud I got Black Desert (along with a friend.) But it's unlikely that I'll play it today. (Plus a class that I like to play in MMO's is the only class that everyone hates and admits is the weakest class.) So I guess I'll have to figure it out tomorrow.

So I watched a video on best starting class for beginners. I haven't decided the class I'm picking just yet, I like Wizard and Sorceress seems cool (though I prefer playing male characters) from what I see the best starter classes are Nova, Wizard/Witch, Guardian and Striker. Also make the characters on the new player server Olvia. The only reason I'm hesitant is due to your first class being the most important.
I'm trying to pick something that isn't squishy and won't break my fingers during hotkey setup.
I heard Shai are just terrible to solo, their only good for support. @Lithfangel Anyways I'll be off watching guides and other videos to get a grasp on the game.

Nah, they do a ton of damage solo leveling.
But they definitely are supports -- so basically every class has an advancement class called an Awakening where you get a new weapon and can swap between them and have new skills to learn. Shai doesn't get that. Instead later on you get new songs you can learn to buff better.
Their damage numbers get reduced in PVP (and they're bad at it.) So that is likely where the misconception comes up.
But in booping creatures and getting around, they're ez mode. That said their big advantage outside of buffing other people is they're gathering/life skill Chads.
Because of this they're usually a 2nd character for a lot of people.
@Lithfangel Oh cool. I wish the console version actually had a description on the class selection screen. Honestly I really like how Sorceress looks, very cool drip. Though I do hear Striker is by far the most versatile class in the game rn, though I do hope the mobile class from Japan (Wukong) gets released soon.
Anyway I'm split rn, Hasashin seems pretty cool, Musa has solid AOE as does Wizard but Musa's whole vibe is Samurai and that's meh. Hasashin is neat but looks kinda meh and Wizard looks average. Honestly I don't love the gender locking, but eh. What would you suggest to a new player to start as?

I think Striker is a really easy class to get into and get rolling. They have decent sustain and just kinda prepare you for the game at large.
I personally main'd and began as a Berserker. It's good in that it has a shitload of fight resets / heal over times, but it requires knowing how to execute grab chains and such at a certain point to be a threat so that hampers it being as straightforward.
Gave all my friends aneurysms in PVP though so it has that going for it.
Well fuck I guess I do need to renew my PSN sub for BDO. I've decided something though as I'd like to challenge myself, I will be making a Ninja. I read it takes some learning but I like the aesthetics and it seems like something interesting and challengeing to learn.
