The Darkest Night
Long ago the realms experienced the darkest night. A cultivator delved into the dark arts seeking immortality and as such discovered the existence of different realms. The cultivator was intrigued and wanted to rule over all realms in existence. He realized his power alone was not enough, but there was a legend of a great power that resided in the souls of the living. The cultivator did the unthinkable and began ripping the souls from the bodies of the living, but the side effects of having their souls removed were something the cultivator didn't expect. They became twisted servants, flesh-eating monstrosities. This intrigued the cultivator and with each soul he collected, he came closer to achieving great power. The last step was to combine the souls and create the Soul Gem. Though the soul gem was created, the cultivator was defeated by those from various Sects who had vowed to keep the world, even other realms, safe. After defeating the dark cultivator, the soul gem was taken to the far ends of the Earth, never to be seen again.
That was long ago, and the story was told through generations; however, many just thought it to be a simple tale to motivate fighters for a great cause. Only the Sect Leaders have become aware that someone is looking for the Soul Gem. Someone wants to resurrect that which is dead and bring about the darkest night once again. Will you stop them, or help them achieve their goal?
