In a time before even our ancestors walked this world, there was a grand kingdom known as Irenia. Though many historians will argue the details of its center and spread, none will deny that it was an endless golden age for all Pokémon of the world. They who mastered technologies and mysteries that even the greatest of our minds could not unravel led the world into a new era of peace and prosperity. And then, without any warning, it came to an end. No record exists of the true cause - none that we know of, at least. All we know is that their texts and histories suddenly begin to speak of a terrible, impending calamity, only for everything to end with no warning. Now, all that remains of ancient Irenia is its story, scattered among ruins that time seems intent on reclaiming.
Today, hundreds of years later, the world can still feel the effects of whatever tragedy brought down our gloried past. Civilization has once more spread, yet in place of a grand city, we have towns and humble villages. Our technology has fallen to cleverly woven sticks and stones, partnered with the powers unique to whatever Pokémon happens to take responsibility for them. And most troubling and fascinating of all... the Mystery Dungeons.
Their very existence defies all science. How can the very land around us shift and change? How is it that three of our mightiest champions might enter the same dungeon and never once encounter one another within? Does something will this to happen? Is there any reason at all?
So many mysteries surround us even now, just begging to be encountered, explored, and one day... solved.
It is for this reason that I call for the establishment of this Explorers' Guild. The world calls for heroes to find the answers we seek, to save those we fear lost, and to stop those who would do us harm. My friends, there is not a doubt in my mind: only united will we have any hope of uncovering the truth of this world. If we are to succeed, let us do so together. And if we should fall, let us fall surrounded by friends and comrades who might lift us back on our feet. I call upon this council to grant its approval, that we may take the first and vital step toward the truth we so desperately seek."

Welcome to a brand new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon RP! I hope to bring together fellow fans of the series to explore a brand new world of Pokémon together! As members of the Alakazam Explorers' Guild, it will fall to you to delve into Mystery Dungeons, explore ancient ruins, and work together to solve the puzzle of the world-shattering calamity that swept away ancient Irenia. Along the way, you'll meet a wide cast of characters that will prove allies or enemies... or maybe both! Secrets abound, after all...
As mentioned in the interest check, combat will be free-form RP, so no need to worry about stats or the dreaded four moves limit! Players will instead face opponents they must overcome by strength, guile, and sheer force of will. Losses can and possibly will happen, and just like the games, any team that suffers a total KO will be teleported back to the guild. Or, if applicable, to the closest safe space. So, always strive to win, but don't be afraid to lose!
Speaking of opponents, just who will you be facing? Why, other Pokémon of course! Some are simply territorial beings who don't like intruders, but something else is afoot. Perfectly normal and social Pokémon are suddenly becoming red-eyed and fearsome, attacking all those around them and disappearing into the wilds. What could be happening to them? There's only one way to find out, and it's up to you to do it!
For characters, my intention is to split players into three rankings: Beginners, Elites, and Aces. As the names imply, these ranks speak to the ability of those they're assigned to. What might trouble a Beginner would be much easier for an Elite, for example. Jobs and requests in the guild will also be ranked, in order to avoid sending someone to a task unsuited for their level. Of course, nothing is technically stopping anyone from taking such a task... but on their heads be the consequences.
During regular RP, players will have the option to work alone or with one another on their various tasks! As DM, I'll be overseeing each adventure as it happens, separating events in different dungeons as they become relevant. So no worries about having to stick with the rest of the party! Alone or in groups, I intend to DM everyone at the same time, no matter how many teams they split into!
One special feature of this world will be Mega Evolutions. Instead of a bond between Pokémon and Trainer, however, this world sees Mega Evolutions unlocked through dangerous trials in a place known only as The Apex. Those who are able to clear those trials will unlock the ability to Mega Evolve, vastly increasing their own power - though only temporarily. Starting out, no players will possess the ability to Mega Evolve, but it is entirely possible (and encouraged!) for them to gain the ability in time.
If this has caught your interest, by all means, feel free to fill out a character sheet! I'll be carefully considering all applications based primarily on quality of writing, as free-form requires a certain level of understanding between players and DM to work properly.
