Name: Reno Kelly
Home: Eastern Tennessee
Age: 35 (looks 13)
Appearance: Reno looks a little older than he should, and that is because of how much he works. He often forgets to drink enough water while working and can accidentally become dehydrated.

Personality: Reno is a friendly soul, who can talk to almost anyone. At the same time however, he doesn't allow others to get too close to him, a true recluse at heart.

Biography: Reno was born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains, in Tennessee. The younger of two children, he would have grown up spoiled if his parents had the money to spoil him. They however, were middle-lower class workers. They provided him and his older sister with all the necessities, but they never had the latest and greatest anything.

Growing up, Reno dreamed of becoming a Pokemon trainer, as most kids do. Of course, like everything else in this world, entry into the trainer program costs money. To be more specific, the written exam costed an arm and a leg. It was the Pokemon Association's way of making sure all that applied were serious about their entry, or so they said.

In any case, Reno had to start working, at the age of 21, the earliest kids are allowed to get a part time job. He took on every odd job he could. Maintenance jobs were the most common, because as everyone knows, while robots do most of the world's manual labor, even they are subject to wear and tear. And while they can usually fix themselves or be fixed by other robots, sometimes the issue would be outside their parameters. It helped that his father was a maintenance technician by trade. He could always call if he couldn't figure out an issue.

Now his 35th birthday, Reno has finally saved up enough money to take the exam. Hopping on his hover bike, he waves goodbye to his mom and dad, headed for Knoxville, TN. There, at the local lab, he will take the exam, and he will pass. That's what he keeps telling himself at least!

Side Note: You only have to be 30 to become a trainer (usually looking around 10 years old). This character just had troubles coming up with the funds to take the Pokemon Trainer exam.

Myra Hayes

Name: Myra Hayes

Home: Originally from Alpharetta, Georgia, United States (near Atlanta). Now attending college in College Park, Maryland, United States.

Myra is 31 and looks about 10. She is a bit tall and gangly for her age. Her peach-colored hair is cut just shy of shoulder-length. Her warm light brown eyes match the warm smile that’s often seen on her face. She likes to wear pretty “Southern belle” sundresses but will settle for a sweater dress and scarf when it’s cold.

Personality: Myra is typically a bubbly and friendly person, perhaps to a fault. Though she’s okay with friendly Pokemon battles, she can’t stand interpersonal conflict, and will often… bend the truth a bit rather than say something that will make other people angry. That, combined with a tendency to speak before thinking when she gets excited, has led to a reputation of being a sweet and fun friend to hang out with but not a deep friend you can share your secrets with. Sometimes she becomes anxious and jittery when the web of subtle lies grows too big and complex. Myra also has some trouble sticking up for herself and her beliefs if it would involve an argument, instead choosing to wait out or circumvent the situation. Those flaws aside, Myra has a sunny and friendly personality that can put most people and Pokemon at ease, and she is more than willing to help a person in need if she has time to spare.

Biography: Myra is the youngest of three siblings. She has a normal upper-middle-class suburban family, except for one thing: her parents hate Pokemon. They are dangerous, and smelly, and make a mess all over the place with their fur or feathers or boiling magma and whatnot. And trainers are even WORSE. They are just handed free airfare, free supplies, free healthcare for their brutally beaten “companions,” and for what? The entertainment value? The world needs more doctors and lawyers who WORK and contribute to the good of society for an honest living, not more freeloading Pokemon trainers.

At a young age, Myra learned two things: that she likes Pokemon, and how to lie. If she got fur on her clothes after feeding a wandering street Pokemon, she’d say it must have rubbed off from her friend’s clothes. When she joined the after-school Pokemon club, she told her parents she had joined the track team, which was -technically- true and worked out pretty well until she was kicked off the track team for non-attendance.

Of course, becoming a Pokemon trainer at age 30 was out of the question. Myra was urged to apply for colleges and ended up going to University of Maryland to major in Communications. It wasn’t the closest or cheapest option, but Myra said she wanted to get a little distance from home in order to learn how to be an independent adult, an admirable goal. In reality, she wanted to move far from home so her family wouldn’t find out that the college plan was just a facade, and her REAL plan was to become a Pokemon trainer!

Over the past few months, Myra has passed the trainer test, gotten a couple Pokemon, and participated in a few battles between her studies. She has been able to keep her Pokemon secret from her family, and she even paid extra to stay in her dorm over winter break. But now comes the real test: the big family Christmas and New Year's gathering in Knoxville, TN. Will Myra be able to keep her secret for just over a week?

Pokemon:

Perry – Bulbasaur – male – level 11 – hardy nature – Overgrow – Tackle, Vine Whip, Growth, Leech Seed

Myra chose Bulbasaur as her starter because of the claim that Bulbasaur are “easy to train.” She didn’t want an unruly Pokemon to blow her cover. Perry turned out to fit the expectation. He is a rather dependable, loyal, and well-behaved Pokemon, though he acts too serious at times and struggles with the concept of “fun.”

Flicker – Litwick – female – level 8 – impish nature – Infiltrator – Astonish, Smog, Ember, Minimize

Flicker, on the other hand, might blow Myra’s cover and relish in it. She is a childlike soul who loves wandering away and playing Hide and Seek – whether or not anyone else has agreed to play. She misbehaves not out of malice, but out of the pride of being able to escape anyone, get into anywhere, and the innocent (in her eyes) fun of startling people and Pokemon.

Nathan Stonewell

Name: Nathan Stonewell
Age: 44

Nathan is generally clad in his hiking gear, wearing a T shirt, shorts, hiking boots, a green bandana on his forehead and sunglasses. He also generally has a backpack on. Among his other gear, he carries a toque, a thin jacket and a pair of jeans for colder weather.

Personality: He's fairly intelligent and well read, especially in topics relating to the world as a whole, the environment and wild pokemon. Despite this, he's not exactly the scholarly type. He's a very hands-on person, confident in his own abilities and skills. As his past would suggest, he's a true outdoors-man that likes to engage with nature rather than observing from a far. This bleeds into his strong sense of wanderlust. As a result of his strong desire to see the world, he has little sentimentality and is often moving from place to place. Despite this, he's a person that enjoys the journey just as much as the destination. Nathan can be a little brash or impulsive , but this stems from the boyish enthusiasm he has towards nature rather than some kind of arrogance. He's a very particular type of person that gets along with others that have a lot in common with him, but otherwise can be fairly standoffish and poor at reading social situations. He finds people to be complicated and at times frustrating. While not completely socially inept, he does prefer to company of pokemon to other people.


Biography: Nathan was born in Vancouver to his mother, a local professor in pokemon ecology at the local university and his father, a pokemon ranger who was the primary authority of a nearby provincial park. As such, Nathan was born into a family that fed his passions for pokemon at a young age. When Nathan was still young however, his father accepted a position in a new park near Revelstoke. As a result, most of Nathan's memories involved their rural home in the middle of the boreal forest and Nathan loved it. After graduating high school, he immediately returned to Vancouver to study population ecology and follow in his father's footsteps as a park ranger. He was successful in this endeavour, and at the age of 37 found himself working at a provincial park on Vancouver Island. He catalogued pokemon species, tracked their populations, observed their behaviours and patrolled the borders to stop poachers. It was a job he very much enjoyed, but he felt like he wanted something more. While enjoying his life within British Columbia, he dreamed of journeying through desert, trekking through mountains and exploring rain forests. He wanted to see the world and all the pokemon that called it home. After sitting on this desire for a few years, he finally decided to take the step he needed to take, and became a pokemon trainer. Now, on the road with no particular destination in mind, the next stage in his life begins.

Pokemon:
"Grover" Turtwig- Male - Level 11
Grover is a very gentle and loving pokemon who was Nathan's selected starter. He can be a bit dimwitted but is fiercely loyal. He's also fairly affectionate with every new person he meets.

"Jet" Buizel - Male - Level 8
Jet is in a lot of ways the opposite of Grover. He's mischievous , often getting into trouble, and confident to a fault. He can have a bit of an attitude, and is a real performer when it comes to battles, always wanting to show off.
