I'll say instead of doing an attack roll for Fire Bolt, I'm going to say Jub will need to make an Arcana Check and a Sleight of Hand Check. Depending on how well Jub knows his magic and how to use it, he might be able to pull that off!

Yeah, Jub conjures the Fire Bolt, but instead of just lobbing it, he manages to form the flame into more like a blowtorch than a small ball to lob at enemies, and he easily uses it on the cage lock to get it to open!

Jub and Vansel are now free, but they're still dangling over the water.

Jub's reaction is exactly the reaction I had when I realised we were still dangling over the water. I somehow don't see Jub as adept at climbing as Brutrumukk.

I mean, you've seen my drawings of him: look at those weedy little arms!

I would say that would be your choice. ^_^ Because both work for this.

But he does see the crank on the railing of the balcony. Aurora is in the cage Brutrumukk brute-forced his way out. So at the very least, he can use the crank to pull the cages in, and Aurora can hop out. Gabriel and Zavakri's cage is still locked and closed though.

... you know what I just remembered? Jub still has two uses of Charm of the Witchlight Monarch left, so he could have just flown up there.

*facepalm*

Let's just say he either forgot about that, or after wasting his first use of it he was like "Okay, I'm only going to use it very, very dire situations."
