I'll allow it. Jub, as a wizard with some knowledge he picked up at some point in his past, and with Brutrumukk now (technically) a gnome born in the Feywild, the both of them are able to put their heads together and figure out the answer by process of elimination.

The vendors are naturally fey. After Jub narrows down the possibilities, a word innately comes to Brutrumukk:

Clothing is a tad lower on the priority list when you have fur. Of course Brut doesn't have any fur now that he's a gnome, but old habits die hard.
