ERRANT

Mina Han is a plain, somewhat mediocre student with the polar opposite of a work ethic. She's lazy, selfish, judgemental, and complains about nearly everything, with few if any friends. That's not to say she'd a bad person, she could even be described as having a kind and gentle heart in the right circumstances! She's not even an especially... unpleasant person. She's just an irritating pain in the ass.

Dame Theophania was a knight-errant of old, quiet and forthright, with a strong sense of duty and justice. Born to humble beginnings, she earned everything she had, fighting tooth and nail to earn her knighthood. In life, Theophania was possessed of a peculiarity which allowed her to stride across a battlefield in a single step - as she would explain it, it isn't that she is particularly fast, but rather that the world is simply... smaller for her.

Diarmi 'Dimi' Carlevaro

At 14 years old, 5'5", and maybe 130 pounds sopping wet, Dimi is the last person to intimidate anyone. Perhaps he's aware, as he's slow to anger and even then such anger quickly dissipates. He's quite chatty and quick to talk with strangers in hopes of striking up a friendship. It doesn't matter how often he's turned down, he'll bounce right back up in an instant. Perhaps that's fitting, as when his family performs for the streets, he does acrobatic tricks and parkour. [So of course he's fascinated when he's attached to this hulking, giant, quiet man who's apparently from centuries ago.] Considering how ragtag, ill-matching, and ill-fitting his attire is, it may come as no surprise that Dimi's 6-member family lives out of a small RV, which is an uprade from the van that pulls it around. If given a chance (his youngest sister is busy, there's no performance going on, and who really cares about school, right?), he could spend all day at a bookstore, library, or comic book store, reading graphic novels and comics.

Agmundr

What does one do after having been raised to fight, joining multiple battles as part of the berserker squad, and getting an arrow to the throat? Become attached to a teenager, apparently. It's a struggle to leave behind the mindset he lived with for so long. Contrary to what one might expect, Agmundr is not overwhelmed by the modern world, mostly because he's able to shut it out, only paying attention for possible threats and planning for battle. Oh, and when his kid calls, probably to show him something like 'ice cream'. Apparently.

When working together, Dimi is already granted the core powers of a mahou shoujo - increased strength and endurance, quicker healing - though Agmundr is able to supplement the first two to greater levels. In addition, Dimi is granted immunity from damage by fire or by any kind of metal weapon, as per the tradition of berserkers. Finally, Dimi is able to produce and release spores that can either put a person to sleep or leave them in a delirious state. Neither Agmundr nor Dimi know how to predict the spore's effects currently.

Silent Rogue

Sakura Takahashi - "The Giantess"

Sakura is usually known by her classmates as "The Giantess", and it's not hard to see why. While she's still 14, she's also "cursed" with an overly tall stature, big hands and feet, and a deep voice, making her classmates fear her more than anything. Personality wise, she's very shy and socially awkward, and usually would like to disappear. She is also very kind, however, and does like to help out people in subtle ways, where they don't know that she helped.

Fleur Emmaline - "The Deadly Shadow"

In life, Fleur Emmaline was known as "The Deadly Shadow", for her tendency to let her influence be felt, but never letting herself be seen by the general populace. She lived in a war torn France, and spent her time silently assassinating nobles for her faction. That doesn't mean she couldn't fight directly, however, as seen when she was caught thanks to a person who she thought was her friend, and had to fight for her life. She ultimately died, but it was worth the effort. As for how she feels about the modern world, she's deeply curious about it, and often asks Sakura a lot of questions about it.

When fighting as one, Fleur Emmaline grants Sakura the standard mahou shojo abilities, as well as invisibility, super speed, and a shrinking ability, in order to get into small spaces more easily.

Shaman

Samantha Walters is the type who takes on responsibility. A teacher needs help with handouts? She’ll hand ‘em out. The student council needs a reliable secretary? She’ll step forward. The city will be destroyed if nobody fights the monsters? Well, that’s a new one; but since it’s something that needs doing, Sam will do it. Doesn’t seem like anybody who’s supposed to deal with this sort of thing will, after all. Way to leave it to a 16-year-old girl. Jeez.

Kammu was part of a tribe of the Apache. He spent his life fighting against foreign invaders who claimed manifest destiny. He followed Geronimo into the thick of conflict, until one time he couldn’t follow him back out. Now a powerful leader once more calls on him to fight against the invaders. He stands just as ready to defend as he did then–even if the people he fights for are nearly as strange as those he fights against.

Tomoyo ‘Tomtom’ Melody-Chiba

Tomoyo is a 15 year old spitfire. Hailing from a family of Egyptian and Japanese blood, she often treats the world like it is out to get her. Personally.

TomTom stands at an easy 5’5”, and weighs a solid 150 pounds. She dresses like a street punk, and wears her emotions on his sleeve. Literally, she has monster-shaped patches that she wears on her school-blazer depending on her mood for the day.

Tomoyo is aggressive, loud, and utterly unashamed of what she feels or thinks or says. Clearly it’s YOUR fault if you can’t stand the heat of her kitchen, she never chooses to be mean on purpose after all. She refuses to abide by bullies, even though she can often come across as one. She’s a contradiction, and will refuse to acknowledge that.

She spends most of her time at school, somewhat ironically, or out on the streets with a small group of ‘delinquent’ friends. They mostly stroll about, hunting down those who actively accost others, showing no fear as they cajole, harass, or physically intervene on whatever they find deplorable.
For better or worse.

Her parents often try to convince her to ‘stand down’ and ‘take it easy’.
But when has that ever worked?
Imagine her surprise when she finds herself suddenly attached to a revolutionary warrior. An adult, and a friend, who for ONCE doesn’t tell her that she’s being too ‘much’. That she’s being too rude, too open, too high energy.

Imagine that.

Usai

Imagine, if you will, that your life was one of strife. Of living every day from the moment you were old enough to hold your mother’s khopesh, to the moment when your lover turns her reed arrows on you. Every day, you fought against a kingdom who saw you as cattle. Who thought of your poor brother as a machine. Who hardly paid mind to his preventable early end.
Every day, you fought to shake the shackles of slavery, to shatter the skull of that horrid pharaoh who saw you and yours and theirs as nothing but property. Well treated, perhaps, property, but property.

Every. Day.
Even when you laughed with your fellows, you burned with defiance.
Even when you laid in bed, ‘safe’, you raged inside.
Even when your uncle, the former soldier that he was, trained you to hold that blade correctly, your flame was only tempered.

Then, you die.

Then, finally, just as you walk the fields to find that gentle peace… You’re attached to a child.
A child who burns with the same fervor for life that you did. Who is lonelier than you ever were. Who is trying so hard, to be true to herself and to others…

Well.
What’s one more chance to taste all that the world owes you, and get the last laugh on your (hopefully) long gone ex, and oppressor. Help a child, fight some more, live a new life, eh?
It doesn't hurt that the girl reminds you of yourself, and you’d really rather not see someone make the same mistakes. Especially in a world where time has marched on to something… Unfamiliar.

Usai appears as a menacing warrior woman from ancient Egypt, hair kept in tight braids and kohl shining with golden light. She wears hardened leather straps as her armor, with otherwise ‘standard’ linen tunic and trousers to protect her further. Above her heart blooms a startlingly red lotus flower. She is often smiling.

[With the standard powers of a Mahou Shoujou, Tomoyo supplements her increased strength and endurance with unyielding will. To put Tomtom down is to hold back the floods of the Nile.
Usai grants her ward the ability to summon weapons of myriad make and age (usually those from Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Japanese history). These weapons appear, made from starlight and constellations.
Additionally, Tomoyo and Usai have learned to shout-chant in unison, bolstering the ‘fighting spirit’ of those around them. Stars float about those who take up the call, shielding them somewhat from harm, and burning with candle-light to hold the dark at bay.]

Kagura Kasuke

Kagura is the daughter of a very rich family, who grow up the youngest child of a large family. Though she was spoiled and sheltered, she was unusually short, not as naturally pretty a child as her older sisters (though still not bad-looking) and grew up with the feeling she had a lot to prove. The resulting girl lies somewhere between an ojou-sama and a stuck-up brat. She's confrontational and abrasive, a living paradox between acting like she's better than you but also acting insecure because she believes the opposite.

Captain Joanna Hawke - "The Storm of the Seas"

Growing up in Cornwall, England in the late 17th Century, Joanna was also the youngest child of a large family, albeit a poor family of sailors. She rebelled against her family's desire for her to enter the Sisterhood, and at 15, snuck away on a trading ship. Ten years later, during the beginning of the Gold Age of Piracy, 'The Storm of the Seas' was already a fearsome captain of her own ship where grew her crew, reputation and wealth for over seven years before she was finally arrested and hanged. Her first mate, Edward "Red Ed" Crawford assumed the position of Captain before going on to become one of the most notorious, famous and legendary Pirates who ever roamed the seven seas. Joanna's role in history was relegated to a mere footnote in his origin story.

On top of the standard array of Magical Girl abilities, Kagura is also granted the ability to summon and control lightning, and her transformation sequence (which is of course being struck by lightning) can also summon Joanna's cutlass if she so needs it
