Pandorum
"Two years into their shift, one of their officers had a psychological breakdown. The doctors referred to it as ODS Syndrome, but pilots-- we call it Pandorum. It drove him insane. He became convinced that the flight was cursed. Evil." - Payton from Pandorum 2009
Notice!!! You do not have to watch Pandorum, the movie, to be a part of this role-play. The plots and inspiration might be wild twists from the movie, but the main focus is scary sci-fi action scenes that the characters will be going through. I rewatched the movie earlier in the week and got some great inspiration for futuristic space plots.
The opening of this roleplay will be focusing on the characters (all characters will wake up from their hypersleep pods which are shown above (reference) of what they would look like. The individuals on this ship trained and specialized in their specific career points: social sciences, biological sciences, engineering, etc... you get the point. Your character is either one of the specialized or a family member that was chosen to be on board to go to the new home planet: Sarta-K15.
Starta-K15 Mission Report:
Only qualified individuals are allowed on the cargo ship that will be over a 100-year journey from earth to Starta-K15. A planet that has provided evidence of life similar to earth with a similar atmosphere. Individuals who are not qualified and are chosen to be qualified individuals plus ones have to pass physical and multiple written exams, show proof of high school graduation, and mental health examination before being verified for the flight ahead. Exceptions to this rule may vary in situations that include marriage.
Characters who are specialized have gone through everything their plus ones have and more. They would have gone through at least six months of training up to the offer of being able to be a part of the Starta-K15 Mission. If you decide to play a specialized individual, your character will be a professional in their field of work and study.
Plus one character, if you desire to play, you do not have to have any relationship with another player character. Your character will not be specialized, but they are allowed to be intelligent individuals, such as holding a degree of high education or a prominent position back on earth. These characters will have a harder time getting around problem-solving situations that are focused on the ship. Meaning: Your character cannot magically be an electrical engineer and fix an engineering problem. This does not mean your character cannot take time to figure out issues; they might be slower or delayed, etc...
Characters will be waking up to something on the ship going terribly wrong. You shouldn't be waking up. You know that. You know whatever is waking you up is not a good thing at all. You'll have to figure out how to overcome the obstacles.
