History:
She was born Zhao Fei Li in China during the reign of the first Ming Emperor. Her father, Qian, was a wealthy powerful man who ruled a local province for the emperor. Her mother, Ming, was his first wife and he truly loved her. Jade had 2 older brothers, Xian and Chen. Qian loved all of his children but doted on Jade. She received training in matronly arts from her mother and tutors in art, dance, and music. Her father saw the intelligence and curiosity of his daughter and allowed her to sit in on lessons with her brothers on mathematics, poetry, calligraphy, history, and politics. Jade watched her brother’s lessons in warfare from behind a screen as they began to learn martial arts, strategy, and weapons. Her father caught her one day. He knew others would not understand him teaching his daughter manly arts. He began to teach her in secret. He enjoyed spending time with his child. He enjoyed getting to mold the character of his daughter and appreciated her quick wit and observations. He knew he was doting on his daughter and that others would say a girl was a waste of time. His wife was amused by his indulgence of their daughter.
Her mother died in childbirth when Jade was six years old. Her father grieved terribly for her mother. She and her father grew even closer during this period. She reminded her father of his beloved wife. Their shared grief created a bond between them. His advisors finally bullied him into taking another wife when Jade was 8 years old. Her new stepmother, Xiu gave birth to a son promptly 9 months later. She was a devious manipulative woman seeking power and position for her own children and family. Xiu began to plot how to eliminate what she saw as the competition, the children by his first wife. It was not long before her father was grieving the death of Jade’s brother Chen. Chen had been the younger of the two brothers and was kind and always smiling. He was always quick to bring Jade a small treat and doted on her as much as their father. Jade was shocked by his death and spiraled into depression. Jade withdrew from lessons and barely ate. She was inconsolable. She had begun to lose strength and weight. She was rarely seen outside of her rooms. Qian was struggling with the death of his son. He wanted to protect his oldest son and had no clue what to do to help his daughter. He was worried he was going to lose Jade like her mother.
Her father was tipped off by a servant loyal to his late wife that Chen had been poisoned. Her father began making plans to protect his oldest son and heir Xian. Her father didn’t think that Jade would be targeted by his new wife since as a girl she didn’t really have much power in their family. At this time in China, women were to do what they were told and their fathers had control over whom they married. Her father had arranged for a food taster to taste everything he or his son ate. He would not allow that to happen again. Xiu began to demand lessons and special accommodations for her son. Her father gave her what she asked for hoping to appease the woman and distract her from his children. Her father began to distance himself from her. Her pushed the idea that seeing her was too painful. He hoped this would defang his relationship with his only daughter. He sought her out in secret and forced her to eat once more. He nursed her through this dark time himself. The household believed it was her nurse who managed to get to her to eat. Her father began to plant spies in his wife’s household to counter her subterfuge and plans.
Peace of a sort reigned in the household once more for a time. Jade was 13 when her stepmother tried to have her placed within her household claiming she needed to be taught matronly arts and that it was her duty as Qian’s second wife. At the same time, she pushed to have Qian take her son under his wing and begin his tutelage in government administration. She pushed for Qian to send his oldest son to the local garrison for further training. Qian didn’t trust her motives but felt that moving Xian to the local garrison was a great idea; however he would hand pick the unit he trained with. Qian felt it was his duty as a father to spend more time with his youngest son. Qian felt if he could separate his youngest son from his mother, he could lessen the hold she had on him. Qian had no idea of how to counter her request about Jade. His advisors were all for his wife taking a guiding role with his only daughter. They did not appreciate the intelligent well-spoken young lady that his daughter was becoming. Women were supposed to be only seen when requested and never heard according to them. Qian knew he couldn’t really fight them on this issue.
Qian refused to give Xiu complete control over his beloved daughter. Jade was now to report to her stepmother for lessons for 4 hours a day. His wife complained constantly about how she needed more time with Jade, and that Jade was a poor student. Jade played the simpleton with her stepmother. She deliberately messed up in her lessons. She watched how her stepmother interacted with those around her. She beat and berated her servants. Their efforts were never good enough to please her. Those who showered her with fine gifts were given praise and accolades. She would often see her stepmother push their agendas with her father. Introducing them and pushing their services as the answers to his problems. Jade understood what she was seeing. She hid herself in plain view of her stepmother. Jade was secure in the knowledge that if she was trying, she was safe from her stepmother’s retribution, at least in public. She often pinched her and left bruises where they could not be seen. Jade continued her lessons with her father in secret. She didn’t get as much of his time these days which made their time together all the more precious to her.
Xian had managed to grow to adulthood despite Xiu’s best efforts. He was publicly named Qian’s heir. Xiu raged in private and still plotted Xian’s death. She turned her eyes on Jade as a way to get even with Qian. Jade had grown into a beautiful young woman. Her beauty was of great pride in the province. Many lords had approached Qian with offers for her hand. Qian knew his duty as her father was to pick a good husband for his beloved daughter, but the truth of the matter was that he didn’t think any of them were good enough for her. His wife pushed the issue in front of the emperor’s delegate on his next visit to the province. Qian was shamed publicly by his wife’s harsh criticism over the issue in front of the man. Qian punished her publicly and humiliated her in his fury. Xiu vowed revenge.
Xiu traveled to a temple that celebrated Huxian. Huxian was the trickster god who could take human form. He could shapeshift into any animal form he chose. He was well known for punishing the wealthy by shapeshifting to seduce others onto following a path that led to their ruin. Xiu appealed to Huxian for his help. She painted her husband as a wealthy abuser. She painted his daughter as an ungrateful child who spurned her love and concern on her behalf. Huxian agreed to help Xiu, but his price was a night in her bed. Xiu was happy to pay the price. Before he left Xiu, Huxian shifted into a large cobra. He had her milk the poison from his fangs. He told her that for it to work, the poison would have to be ingested. Xiu nodded and repeated his instructions before leaving. She was gleeful that her plan had worked. She could hardly wait to use the poison. Now all she had to do was set up the perfect circumstances for it.
Xiu began planning a huge birthday celebration for Jade. She was all sweetness and smiles. She tried to convince Qian that this was her way of apologizing and helping him present his daughter to the public in the best light possible. She invited all the nobles of the region including the men who she knew had offered for her hand in marriage. Jade would be 18 on her birthday. She should already have been married and produced at least one child by now according to the customs of the area and time. Many considered her an old maid already. Many secretly criticized her father. They felt he was a sentimental fool because he had not married her off already. They claimed he struggled to let her go because she reminded him of his dead wife. The men in the region saw it as a weakness. Jade didn’t trust her stepmother. She was wary of attending this party. The one highlight of attending was that her brother Xian would be home for the party. She couldn’t wait to see him. It had been over a year since she had seen him.
The party had turned into a daylong celebration of her birth. Jade had been up since dawn being scrubbed, waxed, and plucked. She was dressed in luxurious silk robes that were heavily embroidered. The teals, blues, and golds were elegant and contrasted against her dark hair. Her hair was swept up into a delicate and complicated style that highlighted her graceful neck. Jade was quite conscious she had to put her best foot forward for her father. She would not have the populace say she had disgraced him. Jade held herself with pride, poise, and confidence. Her manners were impeccable and her movements graceful. Jade was paraded through the streets of the province to have her beauty admired and shown. She was exhausted by the time the actual party began. Jade did not know that her stepmother had placed paid an apothecary for something that would cause her heart to race and cause dizziness. The medication had been slipped into her food earlier in the day. Excitement at getting to see her brother helped her deal with the fatigue from a day full of activities. She sat next to her brother on her father’s right side. She sipped at her cup of water in an attempt to clear the dust from the streets from her throat. Her brother entertained her with tales of his adventures in training. She caught the look of amusement and pride on her father’s face and smiled. She didn’t miss the scowl on her stepmother’s face or the censure in her voice as she requested that Xian find a topic more suited to polite company.
Jade smiled content to listen to her brother. She tried not to fidget as fatigue made it difficult as her attention wandered. She was laughing at her brother’s story when the sound of her stepmother’s voice rose above the crowd calling for attention. Her stepmother called upon her to showcase her ability to play a musical instrument and sing for their guests. Jade kept the smile on her face and nodded sedately in acceptance of the request. She tried not to smirk as it was obvious that her stepmother was hoping to make her look poorly in front of the assembled lords. Jade made her way to the stool waiting for her in front of her father. She picked her lute up from where it was resting on top of the stool. She settled herself gracefully and arranged her skirts carefully. She plucked the strings carefully as she tuned the instrument before starting. She smiled at her father and began to sing a song of love lost and then found once more. Her voice carried across the crowd as her voice raised in harmony with the instrument she played skillfully. She saw her father’s pride for her on his face and the pain in his eyes that her choice of song was a reminder of her mother. Her stepmother looked like she had bit into something sour as Jade performed well. Jade finished her song and rose and bowed before her father. She returned the lute to its place on the stool.
Jade bowed once more before her father. Qian stood and gestured to the assembled crowd as he spoke in a commanding voice, “My beautiful daughter Jade. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.” Jade flushed with pleasure at her father’s praise. Her stepmother motioned toward the back of the room and her smile turned oily. A shiver ran down Jade’s spine at the smug look on her stepmother’s face. A group of women with musical instruments came forward wearing matching robes. They bowed as one obviously a local performance group. Her stepmother’s voice rose above the crowd’s muttering. “I have arranged for further entertainment for the evening. Perhaps Jade will dance for us?” Jade’s eyes widened at her stepmother’s request. She knew her stepmother still hoped to make her look bad in front of the crowd. The long day was taking its toll on her. She felt somewhat shaky and lightheaded. She could only smile and nod graciously. To do otherwise would make her look like an ungrateful and untaught maiden. She rose to her full height and smiled sweetly at her stepmother. “It would be my pleasure. Give me a moment to prepare.”
Jade returned to her seat and took another hasty gulp of water. She didn’t understand why she was feeling so bad. She felt as if her heart was racing. She grabbed a folding fan that she had left next to her plate. As she stood she felt herself tremble a little, she stiffened her spine. She could do this. Her brother smiled at her offering her words of encouragement. He knew what it was like to be judged by an audience like this. He would have spared his sister this public display but he knew his stepmother had planned her attack well. Jade smiled and took up a position in front of her father. She nodded to the musicians as the signal to begin. They started with a slow stately piece. Her movements were deliberate and graceful. She fell into the motions easily. It was like a meditation for her. The music pulling her from her worries and into the dance. Her fan flared and flipped as she used it as a prop in her dance. The music built in drama and speed. Her movements quickened. Her sleeves flared as she spun. The music ended in a huge crescendo of sound with Jade on her knees folded over with her head resting on her folded hands in front of her.
The silence in the room was deafening. Jade held her position breathing heavily. Her heart was racing, and her limbs trembled subtly. She hoped it was not visible. The sudden applause was shocking after the long pause of silence. Jade waited another heartbeat or two before lifting her head. She looked up at her father who had tears in his eyes. Her brother was on his feet cheering and applauding with most of the crowd. Jade rose slowly to her feet. She made the move graceful but felt somewhat weak. She bowed her head in acknowledgement of the praise as she made her way back to her seat. She sank into her seat gratefully. She grabbed her cup and gulped the remaining water. Her hand shook visibly this time. Her brother noticed and turned to her. He lowered his voice and pitched it so that only she would hear as he asked what was wrong. She could hear the excitement and noise that her performance had brought to the crowd. Her father was engaged in conversation with several of his advisors and lords. She whispered how she didn’t feel good and was feeling shaky. He looked thoughtful. The meal had not been served yet. He knew she had only been drinking water. He passed some of the appetizers that had been served while she had been performing. “Here eat something. It will help.” She took the small plate of treats from her brother with a smile. “Thank you.” She quickly ate the small treats. She had no sooner set the plate down before she doubled over in pain. Sweat quickly coated her skin and she felt as if her body was on fire. Her world contracted to how she was feeling. Her body felt foreign to her. She couldn’t seem to move or talk. She screamed as the pain intensified. She felt as if her bones were melting.
Jade was oblivious to the chaos ensuing around her. Her stepmother was screaming in anger that it was supposed to be Xian. Her father looked simultaneously furious and destroyed. The household guards were trying to control the crowd. It was her brother who pushed the hair away from her face. He was sitting on the floor with her cradled in his lap. He was screaming for a doctor. He was asking her what was wrong. He kept her head from hitting the floor as he supported her body. Jade passed out as another wave of heat and pain swept through her body.
Jade was walking through a misty forest alongside a lake. She was dressed all in white silken robes. Her hair flowed free behind her in a long black curtain. Jade was confused and had no idea where she was or how she got here. The mists she was walking thru seemed alive as they curled and swirled around her as she walked. Jade stopped as a man stepped out of the mists in front of her. She didn’t recognize him. He wore plain black robes in a heavy material shot through with silver thread. His long black hair was pulled back away from his aristocratic looking face. The man had an air of authority and power about him. He greeted her by name. “Do you know why you are here?” Jade shook her head with a frown on her face. “Where am I? Who are you? How did I get here?” He threw his head back and laughed. There was a mischievous look on his face. “You are here because your stepmother sought my help to punish your father and you.” Huxian studied the woman before him. He knew Xiu had lied to him to further her own agenda. He knew that just like always her own actions had already brought about her downfall. Jade was not surprised that her stepmother had tried to punish her and her father. “While I am not surprised by the actions of my stepmother, I still have no idea who you are.” Jade folded her hands demurely into the sleeves of her robes as she waited for him to answer. Huxain tilted his head to the side as he considered what to do with her. “Your stepmother put a very special poison into the food you ate at the party. You have a choice to make.” Huxain’s role was to punish the wealthy and highlight their own hubris and lack of morality for their downfall. He had managed that with her stepmother. “I am the god Huxain. The poison you ingested was venom from my serpent form. You have been swept up in the plots of others. I cannot change the past. There must be consequences because you have already ingested the poison.” Huxain gave her a moment to digest that news before he continued. “I can let you die if that is your choice. Or I can choose to have the poison transform your body. I watched you as you danced. I would see you transform into a swan. Something graceful and full of beauty. To transform you, I must take your mortality from you.” Jade shook her head as she tried to absorb and understand what he was saying. “What do you mean by taking my mortality? Does this mean I have to choose death or life as a swan?” She couldn’t really comprehend life as a bird. What kind of life would that be? “If you choose to live, your body will be forced to transform into a swan during the full moon. After a 100 years doing my bidding I will set you free to live your life as you see fit. You must choose now. We have very little time. Death or service to me?” Jade bowed her head and closed her eyes. Tears flowed down her face. “Can I at least say goodbye to my family?” Huxian just nodded and it was the last thing Jade remembered as the world faded to black around her.
Jade woke once more in pain. She was still cradled in her brother’s arms. He was weeping openly now stroking her hair. Her father knelt at her side. In the few minutes Jade had been unconscious, the guards had cleared the hall. Her stepmother had been placed under arrest and was being escorted to a cell. Jade’s voice was weak “Don’t blame yourself Xian. I will always love you brother.” Her brother was startled at hearing her voice. He hugged her tighter. “The poison was meant for me.” He crushed her in his embrace. Jade coughed as she tried to breathe. Her brother hastily loosened his grip. Her father cradled her cheek gently. His voice cracked as he tried to call her name. “I have called for a doctor, but it will take time for him to get here. Hold on child.” Her father’s face was hagrid with grief and worry. She turned her head weakly. She whispered, her voice growing weaker. “No time. Father, I love you.” Her voice caught as another wave of pain rolled over her body. Her body once more felt as if it was on fire from the inside. Huxain appeared and leaned down to touch her. Cool relief from his touch through her body even as she began to curl up in a ball. Her perspective changed as the world seemed to shrink in on itself. She tried to talk but it came out as a hawking cry. Her body was no longer on fire but still felt strange. She tried to stand and waddled from side to side. Her viewpoint remained near the floor. Her brother and father looked confused. They looked around as if looking for her. They picked up the now empty robes she had been wearing. They looked at each other “Where did she go? Where is she?” They didn’t seem to see her standing right there. Huxain leaned over and picked her up. “Don’t worry little one. They will be fine. You and I will have great fun together. I never had a partner before.”
Jade did Huxian’s bidding for a century. The trickster god was true to his word and released her from service. She now knew all the details he didn’t share with her the night he made her choose life or death. She was truly immortal now. She could be killed if she was beheaded. She could be wounded but she healed quickly like any shifter. The more damage she needed to heal the longer it took to heal. Fire would scar her. She was not allergic to silver like so many other shifters. Shifting was quick and painless for her. She retained a youthful appearance. This has caused her to move around quite a bit. She had to move every so often to avoid the suspicions of normal people who thought she was simply human.

She can make a computer sing, draw a picture, and erase any signs she was there after signing the picture and posting it to Times Square. It was rare that she couldn’t get a computer to do what she wanted it to.
Sniping: Learning firearms was something that did not come naturally to Samantha. She has excellent hand and eye coordination. Hitting the target was never the problem. It is hard to learn a skill where you must sit still and be patient when all you want to do is move. Samantha is an excellent shot but does not have the patience to sit and wait for a target. She is great for short periods as a backup overwatch sniper.
Mechanical Engineering: Sam’s father owned his own autobody shop. She learned to be a grease monkey from her dad. She had loved learning how to fix cars from him. With her IQ, she learned quickly. She loved when her father got to customize a ride. She began to learn the fine art of customization. She liked the challenge of a puzzle and figuring out how to make it go faster and turn better. Samantha was fascinated with vehicles of all sorts. She learned how to work on all kinds of vehicles even military proprietary ones. She has a master's degree in mechanical engineering.
Vehicular Specialist: Sam had wicked fast reflexes. She also loved to go fast. To her you only drive or fly faster, higher, and harder. She first developed piloting skills as a child as she hacked into the military’s flight simulators and drone’s programs. She had her pilot’s license for a small plane at 14 years old. Her father wouldn’t sign off on her learning any sooner. She could fly a helicopter or a plane and drive anything with wheels. If you can fix it you can break it. She could figure out a way to sabotage any vehicle.
Close Combat Specialist: Sam grew up in a tough neighborhood. The public school system didn’t know what to do with her. She was pretty much kicked out of public school by the time she was in 3rd grade. Her mother had died when she two. Her single father owned an auto shop and worked long hours trying to put a roof over their heads. He struggled to parent his special needs child. Sam ended up attending an online school. To meet her PE requirements, he signed her up for martial arts classes. He traded lessons for car maintenance to the dojo’s owner to afford it. Sam learned Aikido, Judo, and Kali. She excelled in these skills and quickly became the dojo’s prize pupil. Sam could handle anything with a blade. Almost anything could be used as thrown weapon. She was wicked fast and fearless in combat when it was up close and personal. Men might be stronger, taller, and have a longer reach than her, but she knew exactly how to counter that. They had to be faster than she was. Not many were.
Linguistics: Samantha’s IQ, curiosity, and photographic memory meant learning new languages were easy for her. She was fluent in English, Spanish, Japanese, French, Arabic, Pashto, Turkish, Hebrew, Swahili, German, and Russian.
History:
Sam was born in Los Angeles, California. Her parents were not dirt poor but living in LA was expensive. Her father owned his own automotive shop. He worked as a mechanic in the shop. He did repairs and customizations when he could get the work. Her mother died when she was two. Her mother had been a nurse. Sam was grateful for her photographic memory, or she would have no memory of her mother. Her family lived in a section of town riddled with gangs and violence because that is where they could afford to live. Sam’s father did his best to keep up with her. She was always in trouble growing up. She had an insatiable curiosity and the intelligence to explore it.
The public school system couldn’t keep up with her. She was failing to hit social emotional learning markers in kindergarten and was a disruptive influence in the classroom. She was unable to sit still and was constantly out of her chair and wandering the classroom. The school had her tested and she was diagnosed with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder. They were almost sure she was a high functioning on the autism spectrum. She had such a high IQ they left that off. Medication to help her ADHD didn’t help. She had to work with e cognitive behavioral therapist to learn coping mechanisms that would allow her to focus. They discovered she could fall into a hyperfocus state where she would work on the problem that excited her till her task was completed. She would tune out the world around her and her focus would narrow to her computer, or the movement her body made. This made her especially gifted in learning martial arts and hacking.
She learned quickly and was far ahead of her fellow students. The public school system didn’t have the resources to build a program just for her. Fortunately for her, her IQ attracted private schools that were willing to provide scholarships. The winner was an experimental online school where she could take classes as fast as she wanted to go. Her online lessons only took her about 3 hours to complete each day. Which left her with a lot of free time. She spent a lot of time outside the shop learning to skateboard. She started running with her father when she was 8 years old. She slowly outpaced her father and liked to push herself physically. She fell in with a local parkour group and bounced off walls and flipped over rails happily in the urban jungle of Los Angeles.
There was a local martial arts dojo across from her father’s auto shop. The owner Mr. Takahashi and his wife agreed to trade lessons for their auto repair and maintenance. Mrs. Takahashi became a surrogate mother to Sam. Sam would find herself taking lessons from the couple and it was Kameko who taught her what it was to be a woman. Her father was grateful he didn’t have to tackle puberty alone. Kameko was a soothing influence on his wild child. Kameko was the one who managed to instill some form of discipline and manners into Samantha.
Samantha came to the attention of the military establishment very young in life. She hacked the US military’s mainframe servers one day when she was ten. She was bored and wanted to learn to fly jet planes. She wanted something realistic. The game version of flight simulators while fun, wouldn’t really teach her to fly a jet. She was still learning coding and was good enough to hack into NATO but not hide her tracks. She helped them fix the holes in their cybersecurity for an expunged record. Uncle Sam kept an eye on Sam and when she finished college, they recruited her.
Samantha was recruited by the CIA. She was a top white hat hacker and analyst. She was not satisfied with office work though. She applied for field work and threw herself into training. This is where she learned stealth and how to use disguises. This is where Sam learned about guns. Sam doesn’t do anything part way. She was deadly with a pistol. She was good with a long gun too but too impatient to be a truly skilled sniper. She was at her best up close and personal or behind a keyboard or steering wheel. Her ability to learn languages helped her in the field. She was a top tier operator in infiltration. Then her world imploded.
She was overseas on a mission when she learned that her father had been killed in a terrorist bombing on American soil. He was attending a baseball game with Mr. Takahashi. The two of them had become close friends through the years. She came home to deal with her father’s affairs. She was angry. She had spent the last four years of her life trying to prevent the very type of thing that had taken her last living relative from her. Sam personally hacked into the investigation records. She didn’t sleep or eat for almost 48 hours while she sought out the name of the group responsible for her father’s death. They were a new group of homegrown terrorists unhappy with the current politics in America. She tracked them back to a backwoods basecamp in the wilds of Tennessee. They were one of those American Militia groups who thought Uncle Sam was tramping on their personal rights.
Sam did what she could to disrupt their operations, but she was just one person. She knew she would need help to take them out. She learned that they were being protected by the company as an asset for chatter on illegal military grade weapons for sale. Samantha was furious that the agency she worked for would cover for a group that had killed their citizens. The deeper she dug the more corruption she found with ties to politicians and leaders in law enforcement agencies. Samantha quit the CIA and began looking for a new group to work with whose mission would align with her goals. It was at this point that the Raven Squad came to her attention. After extensive research into their background what little she could find, they hid their tracks well. She felt they would be a good partner for the corruption she had found. She trained hard to pass the Gantlet entrance test. It was the hardest test she had ever taken but she passed. She joined them.
Personality:
Samantha was a wild child. She was an adrenaline junkie to her core. She would always want to go faster. She was driven and liked to push herself. She liked pushing boundaries to see how far she could go. She embraced life and jumped into experiences whole heartedly. She loved to laugh. She loved music. You would often find her head bobbing to some tune as she worked under the hood or on something on her workbench. She was just as likely to kiss you as she was to punch you when she was excited about something. She was unpredictable and you never knew what she was going to do next. Samantha believed in work hard play harder. Samantha would hold a grudge. Don’t get her on bad side because she would eventually get even when you least expect it.
Tactical Suit:
Samantha’s tactical suit was designed with her support role in mind. It has an integrated helmet that interfaces with any vehicle she is operating. The helmet has a HUD built into it with cameras that give her a 360-degree view of what is happening around her. Hidden in the cowl at the neck are the ports that link into the onboard oxygen system she uses when flying jets. The armor is made of a lightweight bulletproof material. The armor won’t stop a high caliber round but will stop small rifle and handgun fire like a bullet proof vest. The prototype material does the same job with more flexibility than standard bullet proof vests. Her helmet has a powerful onboard computer that allows her to interface with the navigation and weapons systems on the vehicles she is operating. There is a built-in knife bandolier across the abdomen region. A utility belt supports the holster for her handgun with multiple utility pouches for extra ammo, hacking gear, small first aid kit, and whatever else she felt like carrying that day. Her suit was designed to give her as much protection possible without hindering her ability to be fast and effective in the field. The suit would save her life but that didn’t mean getting shot wouldn’t hurt. If she did get shot, she would have bruised and maybe broken ribs depending on the caliber.
Weapons:
Preferred Handgun: P365 Sig Sauer It is a nice dependable pistol with a more compact design that fits her smaller hands better.
Preferred Long Gun: Her preferred long gun is a custom sniper rifle along the lines of the Dragnov. It is made of new lightweight materials that allow for a more compact design without sacrificing distance or accuracy. This makes it perfect for her use in more urban settings and for quick overwatch situations where she doesn’t have time to set up a sniper’s nest. The gun matches her ability and attitude.
Preferred Rifle: Her preferred automatic rifle is the M4A1 Carbine. It was designed for close combat and be quickly modified in the field to switch to a shotgun configuration or grenade launcher. It can be switched from semi-automatic to automatic.
Knives: She has a set of custom-made fighting knives that fit into sheaths along her forearms. They are made to fit her arm and her Kali fighting style. She carries 8 slender almost spike like throwing knives. She has a longer combat knife that fits into a sheath on her boot.
Set of collapsible asps: She carries two collapsible asps as a backup in case she looses her custom knives or doesn’t want to kill a foe.
Equipment:
She has a tactical backpack that carries her hacking gear which includes a custom built rig with lightning fast speed, a 10 terabyte solid state drive, secure encrypted satellite uplink, dedicated graphics, and a case hardened against EMP. Additional gear includes a variety of cables that allow her to plug her laptop into various types of data ports from servers to cell phones to vehicles. If it can be hacked and mobile, its in her backpack. She carries two backup portable solid state drives with an additional 100 terabytes of space. She carries two pairs of extra ear buds, electrical tape, a variety of screwdrivers, wire strippers, and a multitool.
She has a small roll-up toolkit that can be hung from her tactical backpack. It has a set of adjustable wrenches, a rubber mallet, flexile head socket set, mechanics gloves, rags, flashlight, a collapsible funnel, a small portable torch, and small handheld drill.
Hobbies:
When she is not off being badass, she likes to bake. It is something that allows her to be creative and her mind roam free. It doesn’t hurt that she can eat whatever she wants. Her metabolism is so fast she burns calories easily. Don’t be surprised when she shows up with cookies or a decorated cake.
Being an adrenaline junkie, her idea of fun is skydiving, bungee jumping, base jumping, paragliding, hang gliding, flying ultralights, and skateboarding.

Witches and Warlocks of Tanner 2.0 RP
Jazrina Heartwood
Character Face Claim- Ashley Graham
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Name: Jazrina Heartwood
Nickname: Jaz
Gender: Female
Age: 26
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Witch or Warlock: Witch
Schools of Magic:
Invocation (7)
1) Jazrina is a naturally gifted elemental witch. Working with the elements is instinctual to her. She often has struggled to learn the formal spells and rituals that come with being a coven member. It feels natural to tap into the forces of nature. Water and Earth are her two strongest elements. The drawback to being such a strong elemental witch is that she must strive to keep herself balanced and in harmony with nature. When she is off balance with nature, her control is weakened and can result in catastrophic spell failure. Things might happen such as a gust of wind pushing her around instead of going where she intended.
2) Jazrina can make shields of natural elements such as stone, earth, and wood. She has managed to create fog to obscure what others can see.
3) Jazrina is able to use the elements as weapons such as hurling balls of fire, blades of stone, and using gusts of wind to push opponents around, or shaking the ground to put them off balance.
4)Jazrina believes strongly in the goddess and that man should walk in harmony with the natural world. She knows that there are things that go bump in the night and that true monsters exist. She is a true believer in the Coven’s mission to protect the small town of Tanner. Her faith has manifested so far in a minor ability to heal others in times of need.
Enchantment (4)
1) Jazrina has minor skills in enchantment. Enchantment fits with her beliefs regarding the goddess and nature resulting in an ability to understand animal nature. She can sometimes convince birds to carry messages for her. She has an easy time making friends with animals.
2) Jazrina has been able to calm down animals and lull them to sleep.
Personality:Confident*Kind*Intelligent*Quirky Sense of Humor
Jazrina is a genuinely nice person who wants the best for everyone. That doesn’t mean she won’t be vicious if provoked. She sees herself as a protector. She probably comes across as a tree hugging hippie. She is not motivated by wealth and is happy to have enough to live the way she wants and do what she loves. Jazrina is a quirky walking contradiction of warmth, love, and all that’s good in the world who will bring the pain if those she cares about are threatened. Think of her as the ultimate momma bear personality. She is unapologetically herself, which can sometimes get her into trouble.
History/Bio:
Early Years:
Jazrina was born and raised in Tanner. Her mother was Rose Brighton a warlock who could communicate with animals. Her mother trained service dogs to help disabled folks. Her father was George Heartwood a warlock who had a minor talent in the earth element. Her father was a geologist. He worked helping mining companies find oil, gems, and precious metals all over the world. Her father traveled a lot for work. While she didn’t get to see him much, her father made sure that what time they did have was quality time. She has always been daddy’s little princess. Jazrina’s mother was a warm loving woman who loved animals whose hobbies were gardening and cooking.
Jazrina grew up helping her mother with the animals on the farm, the large garden, and cooking. Her mother had transformed the property into kennels and training grounds for working with dogs. The girls took care of things while her father traveled for work. Her father made a decent paycheck and her parents owned their land and home free and clear. They were not wealthy but comfortable. Her parents taught her how to use her magic. Her lessons were practical and flowed naturally with her own interests in being outside helping maintain the land and the animals.
She was an only child. Jazrina’s mother Rose almost died giving birth to her. Rose had to have an emergency hysterectomy to save her life. The result was that Rose could not have any more children even though she wanted more. Jazrina grew up with her mother pouring all her love, hope, and dreams of the future into her. Jazrina had warm and loving parents. Jazrina would have loved siblings. She was very lonely as the closest neighbor was miles away and had no children her age. She would have loved someone to play with. She felt isolated at home and sought out the animals for companionship. The animals never judged her for how she looked or made her feel bad about herself. She fell in love with reading, comic books, and video games. She wanted to be the hero of the story that everyone looked up to. She thought if she could be the hero, then maybe she would finally make some friends.
Jazrina has always had curves. While her classmates called her fat, her mother told her she was pleasingly plump and fluffy. She rode the bus to school and was often teased about her size. No one wanted to sit next to her. She struggled to make friends in school. She was never invited to play with others and was always picked last for any teams. Those who say that words don’t hurt, have never had to deal with bullying. Jazrina’s self-esteem and self-image took a beating in middle school and high school. She was withdrawn and very shy in middle school and high school. The girls in middle school made her feel bad about the way she looked. High school was just as bad. She was never asked to any of the school dances. She didn’t even go to her prom. She had learned to hide and never look anyone in the eye. If she kept to herself and didn’t engage with anyone, then they left her alone.
College Years:
Jazina attended college at Washington State University. Her parents made enough money that she didn’t qualify for financial aid but not enough to pay for college. She worked hard in school to get scholarships. She paid for her own college by working part time as a waitress and a freelance bookkeeper. Having to work two jobs to afford college left her less time for classes. It took her longer to finish her degree but she did it.
Getting out away from Tanner for college helped her self-esteem. She finally made some very good friends that her redefine her self-image. Her college roommate and best friend was a wild child named Ellie. Ellie made it her mission in college to bring Jazrina out of her shell. Ellie could talk Jazrina into doing the most outrageous things that she would never consider before. She taught Jazrina how to dress for her body type and to flirt. Ellie’s parties were always over the top ridiculous and fun. Ellie helped Jazrina see that it only mattered how she saw herself. Other people could either accept her or not. If they couldn’t accept her how she came, well, then they didn’t need to be in her life.
She left Tanner, an emotional mess and doormat. She was returning to Tanner with a spine of steel and comfortable in her own skin. Jazrina has long brown hair with golden highlights and brown eyes. She is tanned from spending time outside hiking. She is a plus size girl with an hourglass figure and curves for days. She is healthy and fit just larger and very tall for a woman at 6 foot even. Jazrina does yoga and meditates daily. Hiking helps her feel connected to the land. Yoga helps her feel connected to her body while meditating helps her balance and process her feelings while opening her mind. Jazrina was moving home to live with her parents so she could save up money to open her own business in town. In the meantime, she was working as a freelance bookkeeper. She was excited about moving home. She was ready to start the next chapter of her life. She had hopes that her life after returning to Tanner would be very different than it was before she left.
College Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a Minor in Accounting
