I wrote this story a while ago. I planned to have a bestiary of mutant animals with new additions on a regular basis, but I only managed to get two done. This would involve input from players for new species.
Five years ago, the world as we knew it changed forever. A giant meteor was seen headed towards the Earth. World leaders made the decision to blow it out of the sky.
But we paid for their folly. The hundreds of missiles ripped the meteor into thousands of smaller pieces, which rained down across the United States. Cities were destroyed, and millions died. Those that survived began eking out a living, doing anything to survive.
What once was the world’s main superpower is no more than a wild frontier. Marauders run wild, scavenging for resources-- weapons, ammunition, food. But they themselves are prey to more dangerous monsters...
And the species I have in mind to start:
- Terror Birds (named after the fossil group, these pack hunters are bioweapons created from eagle and ostrich DNA)
- Chupacabra (so named because of their vampiric purpose, these bioweapons were first tested on the US-Mexico border)
- Dragon (enormous, genetically enhanced, terrestrial crocodiles with a venomous bite)
- Wyvern (a sister project of the dragons, the wyverns were created from inland taipan and Argentavis DNA)
