Be forewarned though, I'm far from being an actual ship nerd so I'll certainly not be as knowledgeable in naval trivia as an actual veteran or a warship history nerd.

Don't have time for another rp so won't be actually joining, but came in to say that this is pretty cool! Never thought I'd see an actual ship girl rp, especially with a projection mechanic instead of the ships just... straight up being girls 24/7. (Not familiar with Arpeggio, alas, but that's a clever way to go about it).

Thanks! Full sized hulls and weapons with these ship-girls. Also, feel free to hop in if you get the time. The structure of the story makes it really easy to incorporate new ships.

I think the Arpeggio of Blue Steel manga was the inspiration for Kantai Collection, or at least made shipgirls popular enough that they mae a game out of them. And then Azur Lane came out as well a few years later.

Depending on who else signs up and what they pick, I might also go with IJNS Yukikaze.

I was considering a naval RP recently, but my idea was that the players owned/operated a Los Angeles Class attack submarine in the Atlantic and pitted them against a Soviet Fleet. But this works too.
I'll choose the IJN Kumano, a Mogami Class Heavy Cruiser with 10x 200mm guns, 8x 127mm guns and an assortment of Anti-Aircraft guns.

Nice! If Kensai takes Yukikaze then the Fleet so far will consist of a Carrier, Battleship, Heavy Cruiser, Light Cruiser, and a destroyer. Not a bad distribution to start.

Fleet of Fog aircraft are going to be similar to the drones in Ace Combat. They are mostly automous of the carrier but one on one they will lose to a modern, human figther with a pilot. But usually they are outnumbered 3 to 1 at least

Mental Model:

Personality: Clumsy, sweet, and earnest - whenever Yuki's around, something always seems to go wrong, whether through her own mistakes or just sheer bad luck. But by that same token, she always seems to sail through it untouched and somewhat bewildered by all the fuss.

Memories: All of Yuki's old memories are muddled and confused... they seem to involve being surrounded by shells, torpedoes, and bombs, with comrades battered, on fire, or sinking. And she's always trying valiantly to help, but everyone just dies. Maybe that's why she can't seem to recall it all. It's just too painful....

Extra: Yuki loves sweets of any description, especially the traditional Japanese desserts known as wagashi.

KUMANO

Kumano considers herself a professional. She is very proud of what she has done and would never do anything to bring dishonor upon herself or the Fleet of Fog. She is reticent and speaks only when speech is necessary. Although Kumano is a warrior first, she is also a healer and very much in tune with nature, one with all natural things in her universe. She can be angered when she sees or interprets someone's actions as harmful to nature.

Furthermore, even if you didn't know any better, the tag "Anime/Manga" is right there on the tag list right below the title.

It's like entering a DC Comics fandom roleplay and then bowing out when they ask you to use a faceclaim art style that conforms to the associated comics.
