I've... Admittedly never actually seen much of the anime, but I've read all of the manga (and rebought it when they brought out the omnibus editions despite already owning all of the single volumes for a few years ^^;) and it's one of my favourite ever. ^_^ It's just so adorable!

•Back story: Selí̱ni̱ is the only child of Kardiá Aimafo̱tiá a widowed witch an maker of potions and antidotes.
Selí̱ni̱i has no friends as her mother is a very private woman giving rise to rumors that she is either an ex-deatheater in hiding, a were creature or a poison maker.
Schooled at home and rarely if ever seen outside she is an enigma to any that meet her. Those that know her mother an do business with her would be surprised to find that Kardiá even has a child.
•Personality: Quiet and brooding Selí̱ni̱i is intelligent and observant. She trusts only herself and really could careless which house she's stuck with so long as she can begin to practice magic. She's a bit of a slob about her personal appearance but obsessive about her tools and books.

Magical Heritage: More wizard than not. Mother is a witch and father is the son of a Squib and a Muggle.

Appearance: Zac

Backstory: Zac's parents both work for the Ministry of Magic in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, Beast Division. Growing up around talk of dragons and centaurs was something that he was constantly awed about. He, his parents and his siblings - a younger brother and youngest twin sisters - moved around a lot due to the nature of the work. Because of this, Zac is very close to his family and considers his siblings to be his best friends.

It was always assumed that Zac, as the eldest of four magically inclined children, would attend Hogwarts. When he received his acceptance letter, he thought that he wanted to follow in his parents' footsteps - focusing on caring for magical creatures. But after skimming through some of the course books, his interests broadened and now doesn't know what direction to go in.

Personality: Generally good-natured, Zac likes to have fun and muck around but not to the point of getting in trouble. Having been homeschooled until Hogwarts, he's never really learned the skills to make friends, but that doesn't mean he won't try. His parents never let him or his siblings mingle with the local children in case they accidently let something slip about their work. Somewhat sheltered, he expects everyone to be good at heart. Another side-effect from being homeschooled is that he is dedicated to his studies.

OK, let's take a looksie.

"Name: Selí̱ni̱ Aimafo̱tiá" Is there a reason her name has been liberally machine-gunned with accented characters?

"It's core is the cast skin of a coral snake" No. Coral Snakes are not a magical creature, so having the skin of one as a wand core will not work.

"Pretrained at potions an rumored to be a Parselmouth the latter yet revealed" No. Just no. Parseltongue is a defining mark of a Dark Wizard and I'd rather not go there. Also, given the amount of dangerous stuff involved in Potion making I find it unlikely that any parent would attempt to teach it to their child.

Her name's Greek for Moon, her mom's name means Heart and her last name is a Greek last name, I used them as an attempt to try for the strange names people in the books had

I used the coral snake cast simply because I was finishing up and got a little lazy

I suppose I should have said that she's familiar with potion basic from helping her mom if that's okay and the Parselmouth is a rumor because she talks to her pet king snake

OK, I do still have to take issue with the use of Snidget feathers as a core. Causing harm to a Snidget is considered an offence in the Wizarding world on account of how rare they became after being hunted nearly to extinction (think Ivory trade and you're most of the way there) so it's very unlikely that the feathers from one could be used for wand making.

Secondly, as has been pointed out students can't bring snakes with them. The rule is Cat, Owl or Toad.

As for Zac... Are you seriously suggesting he stole someone else's cat?

Selini Yawns as she reaches into the rodent cage an pulls out a squealing young rabbit which she drops into the Brown's cage, meanwhile her mom continues to go nuts as she tries to make sure everything her daughter will need is packed for Hogwarts.

Don't worry the Brown's toxin is very fast, he won't feel a thing in a few moments

The Eastern Brown Snake is considered the second most deadly snake in the muggle world and it's Venom consists mostly of neurotoxins (pre- & post-synaptic neurotoxins) and blood coagulants.
It's a very useful snake for making blood thinners and antiseziure potions
