SECOND FRONTIER

The world of Second Frontier is on the continent of Irya <eye-raw>, it is a peninsula surrounded by three oceans. The northwest of the peninsula is connected to the mainland, which much is unknown about it. The peninsula and the mainland are divided by a mountain wall known as Gaia’s Pass, which towers high above the land.

The continent of Irya is divided into three countries, to the north bordering Gaia’s Pass is the Dukedom of Ellyuse <ELI-USE>, the most western country is known as the Queendom of Fay, and the southern country is known as the Freed Country of Hugh <hue>. Not much is known about the countries of Ellyuse and Fay, as the expansion pack that included both countries was just introduced known as “The Brave Ones.” Hugh is heavily populated with players, with about each server hosting about 40,000 players.

The capitol city of Hugh is Elbenaster, located at the furthest point on Hugh near the ocean. The city is densely populated with both players and NPC’s. The main focus of Second Frontier is to have a fantasy adventure throughout Irya, completing quests, raiding dungeons, and making friends.
RACES OF IRYA
HUMAN: They are the most balanced of the races, being generally picked over any other race by players. They heavily populate the land of Irya and are usually the typical race seen as players and NPC's.

ELF: One of the oldest races that have been inhabiting the continent of Irya. They have sharp, pointed ears and are known for being selected by players who focus on the magical or agile classes. Elves are generally calm, easy-going people who tend to be very collected. They inhabit a few of the major cities across Irya, but are often known for being hidden in their forest cities.

CANES: Canes are one of three beastmen who inhabit Irya. They have the appearance of dogs, wolves, and every other type of canine out there. They are known for their loyalty and bravery. A strong, proud race, Canes are generally friendly and gentle towards everyone.

AELURUS: Aelurus are the second of the beastmen. They carry feline features and are known as quick, agile fighters. Most are very charming and friendly in demeanor, holding themselves a little above the rest. The Aelurus like to stick together, often creating packs or collections of their own kin.

LACERTIAN: The last of the known beastmen, the Lacertian are made up of brutish lizards. They are often tough, thick-headed but extremely powerful. Most Lacertian are known as great Warriors and Champions. They often times carry great hostilities towards others, even their own kinsmen.

DWARF: The dwarves are tiny, men and women who carry dwarfism. There are many stereotypes of dwarves being just simply short, stocky, and very ugly, but there are many exceptions. Some dwarves stand at a height that just narrowly makes them near a short human or elf stature. They often are a collected community known for their high intelligence of the land and resources. Along with the elves one of the older races of Irya.

CLASSES OF SECOND FRONTIER

PREMISE: Our character's are the people of Second Frontier Online. Some players are new to the world and some are old, but the thing is no one was expecting to be stuck in the world of Second Frontier. The continent of Irya is now what people call home, they had no choice. For some odd reason Second Frontier had caused the players to be awaken in game. Their own bodies now were that of their characters. Everyone woke up, their mind's wiped as to how, why, and when they logged onto the game, the only thing they know is that they can't get out. Even through death, they are revived, unable to escape the prison they used to call Second Frontier.

Irya is their home now, the only thing they can do now is survive and live their lives throughout the once known dreamscape world of Second Frontier.

We'll begin a week before the expansion and update is actually out, giving us something to look forward too and peer into their IRL lives plus their lives in Second Frontier before they're stuck in it.

Questions or anything, feel free to post here or PM me if you have any! Thanks in advance!

You don't have to use this character sheet, it is totally up to you. But you just need these basic information in your profile for it to be accepted and whatnot. Thanks!

Real Name: Allan Rice
Age: 22.
Gender: Male
Appearance:

Personality: Not really comfortable with acting different IRL vs in-game, Allan maintains his personality between the two as the same. He's a positive guy that doesn't let anything get him down. When it comes to anything he's a bit of a try-hard. He enjoys PvE more than PvP. He enjoys playing with people more than alone. He's a bit of a bookworm when it comes to the lore of the world. He has a bit of difficulty dealing with other people's negativity. He finds the animal-like races to be a bit weird and has a hard time comfortably conversing with them. While he is a try-hard, when it's important he knows when to relax and enjoy himself in a slow and steady pace. He has an extremely high tolerance for stress.

Backstory: Allan started gaming with the first major MMO ever: Everquest. From there he was destined to play many MMOs in their varying types for the rest of his life. Name an MMO and he's likely to have played it. He grew up with an interest in the entertainment industry: gaming, movies, books, and more. From a very young age he knew he wanted to build games.

As much of a gamer and nerd as he is, Allan also grew up an active and social life spending many hours with friends and family outdoors and indoors. He loved the company of people and many people loved his company. In high school he was the ace of the cross country team. He was one of the top students in his school, and even was voted class president for his junior year. He managed to get into the college of his choice and start his education in game development. He is in his senior year of college and has an internship lined up that may open into a career to the job he always wanted.

In Second Frontier, Allan has played since opening day when the servers were all the busiest. By far this was his favorite of all MMOs in existence. He spent many hours building his character, Lynx Westrice, a priest of Isodor, the god of life, death, balance, and wisdom. In his mind, no character he has made is any better than Lynx. He adapted to the sudden change of being stuck in Irya better than a lot of people, as he spent so many hour familiarizing himself with the world to the point where it practically was a second home.

In-Game Name: Lynx Westrice
Race: Human
Class: Priest
Subclass: Alchemist

Basilthorn the Paragon Lancer

Gender - Male
Race - Human
Class - Paragon
Level - 73(If wanted.)
Job - Barber

Personality:
On the battlefield, Basilthorn becomes a very confident battler. He believes his skill with the lance to be unmatched. With his self-buffing skills his strength and speed increase. Showing off an almost super-human like battler, which gives him the confidence to face off against enemies. He never attempts to show any sign of timidness of the battlefield. Believing that if he appears brave then it will give people the same courage and confidence that he holds.

Off the battlefield, Basilthorn is a tad different. He stills holds the confidence he shows in battle, but it translate more into a highly charismatic person. People see him as a friendly individual with a knack to befriend almost anyone. His job in the real world gave him a natural knack of being able to suade people with his words. The way he acts is seen as noble by some and pompous by others. Though that way of acting can all shatter if pushed too far.

All in all, Basilthorn is still human. He isn’t someone who was coded into the game and before being trapped in their only had a preset personality. He is ever shifting as events unfold around him. The way he acted outside of Second Frontier is almost a 90 degree shift from how he acted during his normal day life. And while he generally remains Basilthorn, the different shift in his life story could change who he was yesterday.

Background:
Bradley was never much of a gamer when he was growing up. His parents thought that games were pointless and a waste of time. So much of his free time went to reading fantasy novels and sci-fi novels that he could find in his local library. Fast forward to a couple of months before getting trapped in Second Frontier and Bradley had managed to land a job at a very popular newspaper firm. And his first assignment was to write an article on a new game being released. That game was Second Frontier.

Bradley was given a beta copy of the game and put installed the game on his work computer. The game began running on the absolute lowest settings, but Bradley was memorized by the visuals. It was something he had never seen before in his life. A completely virtual world being rendered on his computer screen. Slowly, but surely he started picking up on how the game was suppose to be played. The joy he experienced from picking up this game was similar to the feeling he got when he did cocaine for a week back in college.

After his article was published, Bradley had decided that maybe he needed to put the game down for a bit. It had taken up a lot of his free time during the writing process. But even though he tried his best to stay away he couldn't. Bradley had become hooked on an MMO, like so many other foolish people before him. While he was able to find a near perfect balance of social life, work life, and game life. He had realize that Second Frontier was the topi that flashed through his mind over and over again. Whenever he had time to think for himself, he was thinking about Second Life and how he was going to level even more characters. He wanted to be the best at it. He wanted Second Frontier to be his actual life. While life outside the game was perfect; he was well liked, making money, and had a successful future ahead of him. The excitement brought on by playing the game was no match for anything else.

Then Bradley finally got his wish and he truly became Basilthorn.

Real Name: James Robinson
Age: 15
Gender: Male

In-Game Name: Jay Rayne
Race: Elf
Class: Dualist
Subclass: Criminal (Player-killer)

About: Offline, James is funny, happy, and always relaxed. He's smart enough and popular with most everyone. He enjoys playing soccer just about as much as he enjoys reading a good book. James' online persona, Jay, is the exact opposite. James enjoys playing the villain in games because he thinks that they's more interesting to play as, and in SFO, Jay is about as bad as a player can be. He is a player-killer, someone who actively hunts other players for their items and weapons. Jay farms noobs for free levels and assassinates higher-leveled players for gear. Some might call it cheating, but James, through Jay, calls it "playing the game".

Jay acts friendly and nice, but the second you let your guard down he'll have slipped a dagger between your computerized ribs. He's gone by the time you've respawned. Experienced players aren't so easy to take advantage of, but a few quests is usually enough to earn their trust. Once that happens, they fall no different than the noobs. Well, slightly different than the noobs: they give better gear. James knows that not every player will fall for his act, and Jay is a very capable battler. Attack and defense? Useless. Health and magic? Boring. Jay is a glass cannon fully invested in one thing: speed. Dual-wielding twin silver rapiers with daggers as backup and for throwing, Jay is a blur on the battlefield. A huge sword or a magical nuke will do a whole lot of good if your character is dead before they can attack. This is usually when Jay's real attitude gets to come out and play. He's an arrogant, cocky, apathetic A-hole. Jay is about the closest thing SFO has to a serial killer.

James bought SFO simply because all of his friends were getting it. He'd never been big into online games, preferring single-player RPGs. Due to a backorder problem, James' copy or SFO didn't arrive until a week after the game was released. He'd planned on playing with all of his friends from the first day and leveling up with them, but that didn't exactly work out. Once he started playing, James was surprised at how much more he like playing online with people he didn't know. As just another nameless person, he could be anyone and do anything. His friends had expected him to play a human warrior class at first since it was his first time really playing this type of game, but he decided to go with something more creative. Since he'd never experienced any other class, he never noticed whether or not it was harder or easier to learn. A few days after James got his copy of SFO, Jay had surpassed James' friends' characters in levels. Who knew that he was so good at MMOs?

Real Name: Alexander Gervais St. Croix
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Appearance:

Personality:
Outside the world of Second Frontier, Alex usually isn’t much of an enthusiast. He likes to take life easy and doesn’t often venture into the world of risk or intrigue. Inside Second Frontier, however, this is all a very different story. Within the game he feels free to express his more lacksidasical side, rarely taking things seriously, though keeping a bit of the good-natured laziness. As a function of being stuck inside the game for so long and having a relatively steady income he’s also become dangerously addicted to gambling in all its various forms.

Backstroy: In the real world, Alex is often constrained by the nature of his work, which involves running an off-shoot branch of a popular and successful computer hard-ware company. He originally joined then world of Second Frontier as a way of escaping the responsibilities of the real world and expressing his often suppressed emotions and feelings. However, as a byproduct of his business know-how he’s become relatively rich in game, something that seems to happen almost naturally (though most of these proceeds are often lost to his gambling addiction).

In addition to his usual escapades and adventures, he also works as a Lore-Master, a sort of dungeon adviser that, for a very small monetary investment, divulges known information about dungeons, areas, loot, monsters, and pretty much anything else a player might wish to know. Not all of this information is 100% accurate, but for most decently leveled groups the advantage of familiarity with a particular dungeon or boss is more than worth the meager investment of a couple of coins.

Caim’s first leveling party was in a grassland area known as the Urik plains, an area which he became very familiar with. This was also the first area about which he began providing information, leading to people giving him the somewhat humorous title of ‘Count of Urik’, which is essentially the countship of nothing.

In-Game Name: Caim Caerleon, Count of Urik
Race: Human.
Class: Necromancer.
Subclass: Lore-Master

Name: Dutch Solan
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Appearance: Dutch is pretty normal, though he doesn't really care about his appearance all that much. He is fairly active, so he isn't fat but he is far from muscular. He has pretty long dirty blonde hair just because he hasn't felt like going to the barbers in awhile. He really wears what ever is clean. Normally it is a t-shirt and some long pants. Most of his t-shirts don't even have designs on them.

He is out in the sun quite a bit, so he isn't pale, but he is very white. He is also quite a slender figure though he isn't anorexic or anything like that. Other than that, his appearance really is unremarkable.

Personality: In the real world, Dutch isn't very out-going or social, and this is mostly true in-game as well. He likes to help people when he can, but is often distance, though when he befriends a person, he normally gets really close with them. Also, in the real-world, he can be a bit more reserved but in game, he tends to be slightly more talkative, for better and for worst.

Dutch is an animal-person, he loves them. At any given time, he almost always had one animal or another, normally several at a time. This is reflected in his play style. He tends to like to summon several animal companions to do must of the fighting while he support spells to help his animals. His favorite kinds of companions are of course canines, though foxes and eagles are along his favorites, but he also likes to use a variety.

Dutch has always hated guides, and tends to just do what ever he wants that feels right. He also likes to use things creatively. He will often use his companions for supporting him even outside of battle. So he made a character with very little defenses, and offensives but plenty of points into summoning, animal handling and supporting and healing. He has also toy'ed around with the idea of shape-shifting, though it is mostly utility based shape shifts for mobility or maybe some special effect that is really helpful.

Back-story: His life was pretty boring. He just went to high school and did boring stuff. He mostly liked to take walks in the park or the forest. He got into the game just by off chance quite awhile back actually. He has played the game for quite awhile now, but really hadn't many friends in game as he keeps to himself.

Race: Cane (Dog-Like)

I'll betcha' all thought I had left didn't you? Nahhh... Been waiting until theres a good few cs sheets up so I can see what gaps are left to fill. I like doing that.

I will likely be putting up my cs tomorrow. In the meantime I am open to suggestion. What classes/jobs do you guys think the group could do with?

I'm thinking warrior. Probably great knight after looking through whats here. We have no warrior class characters thus far although paragons could almost certainly do the tanking well and theres plenty of damage dealers. Something of a glass cannon without a tank to take the aggro though.

@Izaka Sazaka: As of right now it's only one character per person. It could change though.

@Hailfire: It's totally up to you. I still haven't made a character either yet so I might fill something too. Also we have a 5:1 boy-to-girl ratio xD. I mean, most MMO's are filled with boys so that makes some sense.

Lol yeah I noticed the ratio. The avatar ratio is a little more balanced though. That is unless lynx is indeed male... Sorry. Couldn't tell from the pic and I don't think it is specified. We also have no cat people. I will probably play as a cat person. I'm afraid I likely won't be playing a female. I have lots of female characters on the run at the moment and wanna make a male character. I will probably go great knight. I have a couple of questions though.

Firstly. Seeing as it is meant to be a video mmo game setting should we be listing the skills/abilities our characters have and their levels? The rest is basically weapon elaborations for the warrior classes. What is meant by the limited melee weapons for the champion for example and what weapons are the defenders not allowed to use?

I was thinking skills be created IC as we go because classes each have their own. I think it would make things more creatively fun and free if we did that. And as for levels, I had a thing for levels in the profile skeleton but took it out, I'll be doing something with levels later. And as for limited weapons for certain classes, it is meant to say that champions are more like brawlers and fist-fighters. They are able to use weapons more like bludgeoning weapons ie. maces, flails and NOT swords and whatnot, even though they are of the Warrior class.
It is also my wording that doesn't really specify that they are of a brawler and more fist-fighting class but I just thought people would get it.

Real Name: Aeisha Harding
Age: 19
Gender: Female.

Personality:
Outside of the game Aeisha is down to business with life outside of home often too fast paced to be otherwise. Social time has to be booked ahead of time along with just about any other event she or any other person wants her to participate in. What social time Aeisha does get she tends to over-compensate for the time she's missed, acting overly friendly and getting herself labeled weird. It is perhaps another pointer to who she is that she considers weird to be a compliment. We all aspire to be different, unique and exceptional right? Weird just happens to be a synonym of these things as far as she is concerned. Just to prove her investment in this belief I'll have you know she once thanked somebody for calling her eccentric.

The game is where Aeisha goes to relax as a form of escapism from the stresses of life and, on a bad day, from herself. As such she isn't too goal orientated in game instead preferring to just explore and take things at a casual pace. She sometimes indulges in the roleplay aspects of her character like purring, meowing or hissing to deepen her immersion in the game. If she were to get trapped in the game though one might see more aspects of her personality in real life come through.

Backstory:
Aeisha lives a busy lifestyle, almost living from her small, bright red fiat punto as she travels the country daily to perform sales pitches for her employers curtain lines. What time she does have reserved off work (such as weekends) is largely booked up by recurring club activities such as the latest martial art she has tried or by her rather demanding parents who insist she visit or help with this that and the other. As a result of this the only time in the week Aeisha has that one would really call free time are the few hours before she settles down to bed. It is usually in these hours Aeisha gets in some time on videogames.

Second Frontier is the first game of its genre Aeisha has particularly engaged with. She was inspired to try the game by her desire for a more socially orientated game than the somewhat self orientated experiences she found most tactical shooters or fps games offered and so, encouraged by some of her friends, she purchased the game and her character Felicity was born.

Felicity's race (Aerulus) was picked almost entirely on a whim, Aeisha barely looked at the other races before deciding she wanted the "cute, fluffy cat person" as her in game avatar. The name was picked simply due to its similarity to the word feline and the class (great knight) selected to fill a gap in the party her friends had. Her subclass (dancer) was again picked on a whim although it has proved useful by granting her increased dodge values, higher combo rates and increased receptivity to bard buffs (and debuffs).

These day's Felicity rarely equips heavy armour, instead preferring light armour to grant her an increased carrying capacity for weapons. How many weapons does she need you ask? Not many. It just happens that one of them is an enormous great sword that occupies most of the inventory for things she can carry. The other weapon set she carries is a one handed sword (specifically a wakasashi) and a shield. The reasoning behind this unusual selection of equipment lies in her choice of specialisations within her class tree; taunts and area denial/effect moves. Great swords are reach weapons with immense raw attack power and a sizeable knock-back effect beaten only by certain classes of blunt weapons or some spells. It's hugely wide blade is moderately effective in defending against ranged attacks and a single sweep can hit and knock back multiple enemies in its area. Felicity relies upon this knock back effect and range to avoid taking excessive damage in combat. The sword and shield are back-up weapons for use where such a sweeping weapon might be impractical or mobility is required with the shield taking on the protecting role.

Race: Aerulus
Class: Great Knight.
Subclass: Dancer.
