So let's talk relations. I'd like some relations please : )

I'd just like to make it very clear, then, that the Goblin Territories should be considered "open season" by all civilized nations, as was my original intent. Invade them and murder them at your leisure, for the sake of plot! That is the summary of my race relations, unless anyone is playing a nation desperate enough to parley with Goblins.

Actually, as odd as this may seem I was wondering if my nation could have at least okay relations with the Goblins, you will understand more when my sheet is finished and up but secretly my nation wants a buffer nation to the south. A huge swamp and boggy area, inhabited by an irrepressible people who I imagine will be great at guerrilla warfare make an excellent shield against the rest of the world. No real threat of invasion by the Goblins but a fantastic buffer. So my nation would offer the following. They would guarantee the independence of the Goblin nation, protecting them in wars if need be and even offering to held them expand their borders coast to coast. In return the Goblins would be asked to resist any hostile armies marching to my nation from the south. Also their may be trade, less for industrial reasons but more for science as far as my nation is concerned. They may want to experiment with swamp gasses and the various other unpleasant elements of the swamp. In return my nation could provide an array of things, your choice Meeky.

As a side note their may be some cultural sympathy between our nations, you will see when I post it.

I'll have to see your nation's completed form before I say "Yes," but that would work for the goblins, so long as they felt they wouldn't be betrayed. They are guerrilla warfare specialists, basically, and they actually are hoping to expand coast-to-coast so as to be able to muscle their way into the global scene of diplomacy by controlling inland trade. It could work.

I put up the WIP of my nation for you Meeky, and everyone else of course. It's not finished yet but it should give you an idea of where I'm going with it.

Hm... Relations between the Goblins and the Azera would be interesting to say the least. I would not be surprised if the Azera waged war on the Goblins as well in the olden times, given their once warlike nature, so there could possibly be some bad blood between them (but there's bad blood with just about everyone and the Goblins). Then again, the present date offers two cultures with some distinct similarities, yes: a focus on the group rather than the individual; isolationism; having bad relations with most nations in the world. Their religious differences wouldn't be a sour point, really, since Goblins would just adapt whatever they liked from the Azera to fit their own culture... Though the Azera might not like it if the Goblins started trying to bargain with the Trickster God as they do with all deities...

It could work. Trade would be possible; the Goblins would probably take a large variety of things in trade, especially good tools. Big Brigga, being a warlord, would probably make use of the Goblin-Azera alliance to conquer whatever land she could for her people before she died, and probably employ their help in establishing permanent defenses in non-swampy territories that the goblins could use.

Do you want to say they've already made a mutual defense pact and have begun trading (which will, of course, still be a dangerous endeavor what with goblin clans having the rivalry they do and the likelihood of rival clans raiding trade caravans heading to their enemies' villages)?
