BIOThe legendary Musashi Miyamoto himself. But before he was Musashi, before he became the greatest swordsman in Japan, he was Takezo Shinmen, the violent, yet intelligent, son of a demon raised under the samurai Munisai Shinmen. As a child, Takezo's life wasn't very enjoyable. His 'father' divorced his biological mother not long after he was born, most likely resulting from the knowledge that she had a child that wasn't his own, and forced the child to learn the art of the sword and their family art of jutte. He absolutely hated his father, who would take his anger out on the boy during their rigorous bouts of training. Additionally, his own vicious attitude earned him notoriety as a 'demon child', which all things considered, wasn't that far from the truth.
Fortunately, this didn't last too long as the young Musashi was taken in by a notable monk at a temple outside Edo, Japan, who was responsible for educating him in religion and teaching him basic skills like reading, writing, and being a decent human being after his father died when he was 7. It was also around this time that he began to train himself further in the art of swordfighting, using what he already knew from his father's harsh lessons and taking it up to 11 with his infamous dual-wielding swordstyle, Niten Ichi-ryu - Two Heavens as One.
At the age of 13, Takezo won his first duel by beating a samurai to death with a wooden sword. At the age of 16, he packed his bags and decided to travel Japan on a musha shugyo, a type of pilgramage where a warrior, called a shugyōsha, would wander the land practicing and honing his skills in various manners such as duels, leaving the rest of his possessions other than his two bokken with his sister and her husband. At age 17, an old friend of his from his village asked if he wanted to go along and fight for the Toyotomi clan against the Tokugawas at the Battle of Sekigahara. Unfortunately, if you've read a Japanese history book and/or if the term 'Tokugawa Shogunate' means anything to you, Takezo found himself on the losing side and took a bullet to the leg.
After the battle, Takezo would disappear from the records for a time, which is where all the fun begins...
