[IC] Fractions: A New Age

Nessie awkwardly stepped back, away from the two. She didn't know what to do, Alex seemed to be having a breakdown of some sort, and it was clear the two knew each other.

She felt out of place, and blushed, looking down, trying to stay hidden, and as if she wasn't intruding. She looked to James and Mason, thinking they should leave, but she didn't know how to do so without making is seem like they were leaving ebcause of the situation. Mostly though, she wanted to comfort and figure out what had happened, what was going on, and try to make things okay.

Forest turned and went back to her seat as she picked at the rest of her food and soon threw it away. As she looked around she started to wonder what they were doing today.

Alex moved to push her away, but broke down before he did. "You should hate me." He said through his tears. "You should yell at me and curse me and run far far away like everybody else. How can you possibly forgive me?" He leaned his head back against the wall, glad that the bubble around them was mostly opaque. "How am I supposed to handle forgiveness?"

"Because I promised you forgiveness! I promise that I would always be here. DO NOT put up this wall against me, because I do not deserve it, Alexander. I kept my promise, I came back. I am sorry it was not as soon as you hoped but I have traveled farther than your life span could comprehend." She pushed away and placed herself on the other side of the bubble, staring at him in disbelief. "I don't care who you think you are, because you don't know who you are so do not tell me you can't take forgiveness." She sobbed so hard that she had to grab her chest to not lose consciousness. "I came all this way, to find you like this.." It then hit her. "Did I do this?" She practically whispered before scooting closer so he could not break eye contact. "Did I do this? she asked once more.

Alex tried to move backwards, but just pressed harder against the wall. "No," He whispered, trying to convince himself. "You couldn't have. Nothing so dark could be your fault. I did it, the blame is mine. It... It..." Alex tried to avert his gaze, but couldn't look away. In an almost inaudible voice, he said "It started when you left. I ran away a month later. You can't be blamed though, it's not your fault. You're the only reason it didn't happen sooner. Nyx, please..." He pleaded with his eyes. "Don't blame yourself. I can live with being a monster, but if you thought it was because of you I... I'd..." He couldn't finish the sentence, choking on the words.

She put her hand up as the tears fell harder down her face, it was her fault and she knew how hard it was to admit it. She felt as if she was going to throw up, but swallowed hard. She didn't know she would be gone this long, she didn't know how heartbroken he would be. She only left because she had to, and he knew she had to. She was dying, and if she didn't sustain the life of a fallen star she soon would have perished. She sobbed for a moment as she placed her hand over her mouth. "Just.. put me in one of your sweaters, and play with my hair till I fall asleep. I am exhausted.. Please." Her last word cracked hard as the little girl became visible in the alley way where he had found her, cold and unwanted.

Alex nodded wordlessly and stood up, putting his arms around her. He didn't really want to deal with the students right now, but he didn't want to risk making Nyx any more upset, so he collapsed the bubble and tried to move towards his quarters. Once he got there, he locked the door and used his power to freeze it shut with special ice. Not even Z would get through that without blowing half the building away. He walked Nyx over to the bed and sat her down, walking over to the closet. Reaching into the back, he pulled out what looked like a full skirt dress made of black wool. "Every time I get a new sweatshirt I do this. It might have been the only thing to keep me sane." He handed it to her and turned around, walking to the other side of the room.

She didn't look at anyone as he carried her to his room, the silence being more deafening then their recent talk. Her sniffles continued as he placed her on the bed and iced the door shut, yet she was confused on what he was exactly keeping out. But she was too tired to question, or fight, or do anything for that fact. She kicked off her shoes and began to slide the dress off her body as he handed her the sweater already tied to fit her form which only made her want to cry more. she didn't bother caring with him in the room, he was never the type to peak at her or to be a pervert like the other boys they had grown up with which were their bullies to be exact. She slid herself in to the warm wool and climbed up to the top of his bed and curled up, watching him as if seeing if he would lay with her, her old tears stained down her cheeks and her eyes puffy.

Once he knew she was done, he turned back around and walked over to the bed. As she curled up, he sat on the side next to her and stroked her hair. He started humming a lullaby like he used to when she couldn't sleep, and they were back at his house with a lightning storm outside. He closed his eyes, and like when they were children he started falling asleep himself slowly. Eventually he was lying next to her peacefully, still humming softly as he drifted into oblivion.

Her mind went blank after a few minutes, but she could still hear him humming along with his fingers playing with her hair. What a long day she had had, but as long as she ended up here, she would be fine in the morning. She shifted to fit the curve of his torso before falling in to the deep sleep she needed.

Nessie still wasn't quite sure what was going on. She hadn't been able to hear much, or see anything as the two were engulfed by the bubble. She glanced at the boys to see their reactions, then frowned. She moved out the way as Alex, and Nyx came out the bubble, and decided not to intervene.

She turned to the guys, and said, "I'm g-g-g-g-going to see a-a-about g-g-eting a dorm r-r-room with some others. I'll s-s-see you l-later" And because they had been good friends to her, she hugged Mason and James both, "L-l-lets h-have l-lunch" and then she was gone, thinking she might find Caroline and see if her room had a spare bed. She started to look through dorms when she didn't find her in any of the common areas. She knocked until she found carolines dorm.

A slightly muffled voice from behind the door said "Hold on!" Followed by a loud crash and what sounded like swearing. A second later the door opened and Caroline poked her head out. "Oh,hi Nessie. What's up? You wanna come in?" As she stepped back from the door Nessie could see past her into the living area. Most of the room was cluttered with what looked like various stone formations, and several things that looked like altars with stones floating above them. "Sorry about the mess," she said, pushing aside one of the formations and taking one ofthe the larger ones apart. "I couldn't sleep last night, I was too busy experimenting with my new skill."

"Its f-f-fine" Nessie said, looking about, "i d-d-didn't s-sleep last night e-either. I g-g-got t-talking with J-J-James" She said, "a-a-and I d-d-d-decided I d-d-didn't w-want to sleep in a r-r-room b-by myself. I'm t-the o-only one in my d-d-d-dorm"

Nessie felt guilty because she hadn't done anything else with her powers since the training session the day before. She tried to form a flame, but couldn't and didn't want to seem like she was a freak staring at her fingers willing a flame to form. She would never get the hang of this wretched power, she thought.

James had to get out of there, His head was killing him, he took off walking with Hope, "Come on girl lets look for a good hallway." James laughed at himself before wincing in pain, James leaned against the wall as his head started throbbing badly, he could see Nessie down the hall and tried to call out to her as He reached out. He felt himself falling to meet the ground. Hope got over top of him and started licking his face attempting to rouse him.

James was in his house...his house with his parents. He was standing in his kitchen all alone and the house was still intact. James walked into the living room to see himself but much younger and his father standing there arguing with his mother, the two of them were fighting and cussing while James and Jacob...Jacob...Suddenly all the memories of his brother returned like a wave, Jacob was James's brother and best friend and the two of them were inseparable till that fateful day. James dad smacked his mom hard and sent her to her knees Jacob ran into the bedroom as James watched in horror as his mom was beaten by his dad. After a few seconds Jacob came into the room with his fathers pistol and pointed it at him. James watched in horror as the younger form of him reached out his hand trying to scream stop and a bolt of lightning arced out and fried his brother. Jacob dropped dead instantly and their father turned to look into the eyes of James who had started floating. Wind began spinning around James in a fury, As the wind spun electricity started crackling in the air, James's father's screams for him to stop were deafened by the gale and after a few seconds it was like a bomb went off Jame's wind exploded outward destroying the entire house and throwing his mother into a wall killing her on contact and tossing his father into the second floor before dropping rubble on him and killing him as well. The tornado coming off of James lasted for a few minutes before he simply passed out and dropped to the floor. Older James stood in stunned silence as tears began rolling down his face and he relived the four hours of trying to wake them.

Caroline moved enough of the stones to clear the couch and waved that she should sit down, before taking a seat herself. "Well, I'm all alone here too, but that might be a good thing considering the mess I made. I would have roomed with Celia but I caouldn't find her last night." Suddenly hit with an idea, she turned to Nessie. "Hey, why don't you move in here? It's really no fun living by yourself, and I promise to be more orginized."

Nessie sat down, and surprised herself by laughing, "I d-don't k-know, I c-can be p-pretty diso-o-organised, yet I kn-kn-know where everything is" She said with a smile, "I d-d-don't m-mind mess as l-long as the f-f-floor c-c-can be seen" She said.

She thought on the offer, and nodded, "I'd l-like to room with y-you" She said, "A-at l-least you have s-started to t-t-train with Phorrus, I'm g-g-getting no w-where with v-v-viper" She said looking around at all the stones, "I s-s-s-seem to b-be only a-able to c-create it w-when I'm m-m-mad"

Caroline smiled, picking up two of the stones. "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get it eventually. I've been training for years, and I'm only just understanding the way I use Phorros." Setting one of the rocks down, she looked at it for a moment, and it wobbled a bit. "When I try to move the stone itself, it doesn't move," she explained. Moving the other stone closer, she continued. "But when I bring these two together..." as she brought them close together, the one on the table slid a bit then flew off. "I can do that. It's because I don't move the rocks, but I can magnitize them. What I'm saying is that everybody has a different method, and you should just keep trying new things until you find yours."

Nessie listened and nodded, "I s-s-s-suppose, b-but n-nothing s-seems to work" She said and sighed heavily. She then shrugged, "W-well, I g-g-uess I'll learn one d-d-d-day" But whether it would be soon enough to survive here or not, she had no idea. "I'll g-g-g-go g-g-get my t-things" She stood and went to head out

Kai's tears of happiness.. became tears of mourning as he left the mess hall.. he was gonna find away.. to stop it.. he was gonna use his powers.. that's what he'd do.

He found a shaft that led to the top roof of the rec room.. he sat on the edge, just thinking on what to do, his tears where searing hot from viper that was inside him.. he missed his sister so much, what could he do.
