[OOC] Jurassic Park: The Return

It was over a decade ago that the UN and Costa Rican government blockaded Las Cinco Muertes. Noone can sail near, fly over, or otherwise get within two miles of the island chain that now is home to an ecosystem of dinosaurs.

Of course there was no way that would last forever. Dinosaurs, a potential fortune, that is only out of reach due to a few under-crewed battleships. It was only a matter of time before some rich businessman would try and get his hands on the same Pandora's Box InGen opened all those years ago.

Enter Benjamin Statler, the Founder, and CEO of Statler Biotechnology. Armed with billions of dollars, and a desire to make more, he has set his eyes on Isla Sorna, her sister islands, and the wealth of genetic marvels they contain. Statler has a plan to get to the island, all he needs is a team to do the work. Enter you.

You will be playing as a member of the team hired by Statler to get on the island, retrieve "samples", document, and research the islands, you will fill one of the following eight archetypes:

Paleontologist

A dinosaur expert, if a group is gonna survive on an island chain full of dinosaurs for an extended period of time your knowledge will become invaluable. The opportunity to see living fossils was too much for you to pass on.

Survival/Wildlife Expert

You may not have the same specific expertise with dinosaurs, but you know animals and wilderness like the back of your hand. Your ideal home would be a crashed 747 in the middle of the Amazon.

Security

A mercenary to put it simply, you were hired for one reason, you're good at protecting people, and killing others. You have the training to get people out of just about any situation, and the firepower to kill anything that gets in your way.

Hunter

Much like the security you were hired because you are good at killing things, except in your case it isn't armed insurgents or assassins, but lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! You don't rely on your weapons as much as you do your own abilities, you may not know what plants are edible like the survival expert, or the fire rate of an M249 like the security, but you do know when you're the hunter, and when you're being hunted.

Tech Expert

If there is one place you don't belong it is on a bunch of islands full of dinosaurs, but the money was too good, and InGen left alot of data on those computers, regardless of how ancient they are. If any of it is still somehow salvageable you're the person that can get it.

Thief

There are gonna be times that brute force just won't cut it against a bunch of dinosaurs. That is why you're here, it might not be possible to sneak past the senses of a velociraptor, but if there is anyone that can do it. It's you.

Photographer

Someone needs to document this expedition, it may be illegal, and dangerous, but it is also the first time people have seen dinosaurs in nature in years. This may be the only chance anyone gets this century, plus if the group needs some recon, they have you.

Doc

While it isn't the plan, there is a definite chance that someone will get hurt during this expedition. That is why you are here, You know how to patch people up like noone else.

History: Kabir Singh grew up in rural India, in an isolated nothing town that was remarkable only as a jumping off point for foreign hunters. Most of the men in the village made their living as guides or porters for Americans or Britons looking to nab a sloth bear or leopard to hang over the fireplace. Kabir was under no illusions, however, the local men did most of the work. The tracking, the cornering, everything except actually pulling the trigger. While he followed the men of the village into the profession, he also used his own free time to hunt various game, gaining a great deal of experience and recognition. However, in recent years, big-game hunting has fallen out of favor as the wealthy in America and Europe begin to pursue more environmentally friendly pastimes. Kabir is married and has three children to put through school, and the big expeditions are becoming few and far between in his village. His finances have started to suffer, but Kabir is unwilling to look for other work- hunting is the only thing he knows.

His luck changed recently, however, with the receipt of a letter from an old client, a Staler executive who had taken a hunting junket some years earlier and recommended Kabir for the job. The pay was good, and even though it was unfamiliar territory, the man must provide for his family.

She was hired by Statler because she is known for pushing the limits to get the shot she wants... and she doesn't ask questions.

Other: She was in the same photography course as Nick Van Owen and even sat in on a lecture by Ian Malcolm entitled "Life at the Edge of Chaos" about the Chaos Theory, something she is interested in and supports.

As security would it be understandable that my character isn't just an everyday uniform wearing club bouncer, but rather something like an ex-US Green Beret or US Ranger or from any other special forces division?

Also, since this seems to be an expedition endorsed by an influential person with a deep pocket, would it be safe to assume that my character would have access to weaponry otherwise difficult to obtain for an average mercenary. On the likelihood that my assumption is true, my character will likely be equipped with a regular special forces load out; including some personal med supplies (Morphine, Epi, Bandage Kits).

Yeah, just about anything that can be obtained by a private citizen whether legal or not is fair game, and a former special forces soldier is fine. Only the best get to risk being eaten by dinosaurs.

Pretty much everything you'd expect, scissors, tape, gauze, cotton, prep pads, morphine, burn gel, bandages, gloves, antibiotic ointment. What you'd find on a good hiking or camping first aid kit. Sorry for the late reply btw, weekends get a bit hectic for me sometimes.
