Kaden had a few days off work. The underground bar called the Underground he worked at had a good number of fighters at the moment. It gave him some time to heal with the bruises that covered his body. Two nights ago he had been in a fight with another fighter, they ended in a tie, but it was all good. They had been friends when he was still hunting. He had a nice shiner on his left with a little cut right under it, his lower lip was slightly swollen still, a little cut on it as well. His knuckles on both hands were a little banged up, but other than that the rest were covered by clothing.

Having just left the Starbucks in town and now driving around, Kaden was wondering what to do. Kaden didn’t have much of a life outside the cage, and it was far too early to go drinking. He didn’t want to go home, it’d be too far depressing on this nice day of late spring. So he did what he always did when he was bored. Drive his amazing car until he found something to do. It wasn’t until about twenty minutes later that he passed a boat rental place. It was a stupid idea, Kaden never went in the water because he knew what lurked under the surface, but it wasn’t swimming right? He could get to some of the islands and act like a boy again. Climb some trees maybe find that hidden treasure.

Laughing softly to himself as he pulled into the parking lot he locked the car, making sure to have his gun on him along with a few other things he could use for hunting. After all he didn’t know what else he could run into besides the merfolk. He didn’t really hate them as much as the land dwellers, but he still hated them. Evil little things, with looks of the gods. Could fool even the smartest of hunters at times. With that thought in mind he almost hesitated when he went to pay for the kayak. Slipping the life-jacket on over his t-shirt he looked at the waters. He was being paranoid, but he had good reasons to be. He just had to act like they weren’t there and everything would be fine? Ha, yeah right.

Slipping his jean covered legs into the long kayak, he wiggled his body a little before it slipped from the sand and slowly started to drift into the open water. He couldn’t help but glance around in the water, just waiting for something to come up and attack him, but after a good minute, he finally started to paddle along. Another twenty minutes passed before he pulled up along the shore of an Island if he remembered right it was Gray Island or something like that.

He didn’t think anything bad should happen but he pulled the kayak high out of the water and tied it to a tree with a hunter’s knot. Once happy that it wouldn’t be taken on him or something he slipped his life-jacket off and placed it in the opening before pushing his hands deep into his pockets, feeling the cool metal of his gun along his finger tips and palm. It wasn’t long when he crossed some of the Island. He wasn’t sure how much of it, but he was at the water again. Standing along the edge of the rocks and tree line he looked down the coast. It was really nice out here. Taking in a deep breath, only to see a slight sparkle in the corner of his eye. Quickly his gun was out, as he pointed at the lone mermaid on the shore. Her long tail still touching the water.

“Your either one dumb bitch or your thinking I’m some stupid human.” He almost growled hating that he was acting like this and dealing with this in a manor he knew better. He should have just turned and left, but there was always the chance that she had been watching him the whole way to the Island, he wouldn’t be able to get back to land easily if she was tracking him. The hunter in him could never fully go away.

"This is not the time or the place, Dahlia."

Across the large round table in the council room, the silver haired man spoke, firmly, to a rather young looking, beautiful brunette woman. Her deep sapphire eyes shot towards him. The council of witches was having yet another meeting, and Sable, the elder wizard, was notoriously difficult for dark witches to get through to, but Dahlia was determined. She was among the oldest there, older than Sable even, but her mind was set and very little stopped her then.

"When is the time then?" She inquired, her candy red lips moved in well contemplated thoughts. "Once it has begun? You know the war is inevitable, so why not just take the world by storm? It is ours for the taking after all."

"No." He firmly stated, his grey eyes locking with hers. Leave it to a pacifistic white wizard, Dahlia thought. "The war is avoidable, and this ball coming up should prove that much."

"Or it may prove disastrous. Think about it, wars have been raging between the races for years, just looking at the vampires and lycanthropes should prove that much." She countered. Sable was getting irritated, and the whole council could see it.

"I don't see why you are so set on this." A witch to Dahlia's right spoke, and she shot a look.

"Because, look at our history. We always get thrown into wars, and the weaker minded of us are helpless to stand up, so they get manipulated. Of all of the races, if all of the witches banded together, nothing could stop us. We harness powers that others couldn't even dream of, so its our turn to show the world, or we destroy it trying." She quipped, her eyes darkening slightly.

A sigh escaped Sable who looked to Dahlia once more. "You and I will discuss more later, we have other issues to discuss."

Dahlia knew that wasn't good, but then again, Sable didn't threaten her any, no one in the council did. Sable continued though, "As we all know, the ball is days away, and all of us are expected.to be in attendance, and our history with vampires and lycanthropes is just as murky as their history with each other, so I remind youto be on your best behavior."

"We aren't children." Dahlia hissed, her already dark eyes darkening again. Her forte was dark magic, so no one should have been alarmed, but her emotions were quite hectic when her powers were so unstable. She may have learned stability, but some times it still got the best of her.

"I move.for a five minute recess." Another wizard said. "We've been here for hours, perhaps some fresh air will help."

Before the motion was carried, Dahlia walked outside the room and into the courtyard. The coven had a beautiful set of land, but now she was waiting. Oh, the council would see what she meant, just they wait.

The breeze from the fan felt nice, it was divine, but clearly it wasn't all that he wanted. Dark eyes fixated at the drained blood bag near his feet, Elijah barely registered anything else. It was hard, especially with the coven preparing for the ball ahead. Frankly, Elijah could care.pess between war and peace, he had seen so much that he knew both were oddly symbiotic. In order to have peace war was necessary, and in order for war to begin peace must be wanted. In his eyes, the war was just looming, and he would be glad once it started.

Not because he was for it, but because the anticipation made his coven on edge, knowing just how hard it would be for them if something they did started the war. With a sigh, he stood, grabbing a jacket from the coat rack and heading out the door. It was overcast, which was nice, but what made it better was the fact it wasn't burning him. Sure, prolonged exposuremcould severely injure him or kill him, but the clouds made that much less likely to occur.

He needed more blood, fresh blood, and that was perhaps the only good thing about that would come of a new war. No one would regulate how many vampires were out looking for fresh blood.

It wasn't long before he entered a bar, and he sat there, looking to the brunette bartender. It was fairly empty, and he gave a charming smile when she walked over. "What could I get for you?"

"Bourbon, and a shot of you." He answered, his pupils dialating slightly as he spoke, and once the alcohol was placed before him, he watched.her offer him her wrist, and he looked a moment before he took his knige and cut her palm and watched as it dripped.into his glass and he took a sip. It was going to be a good night, that was certain.

It seemed that Tatum wasn’t quite the only one that thought the mere idea of this was a mistake, in her group. The idea of both the mermaids and sirens trying to make peace before this so called party, was one of the stupidest things she had ever heard. Such things had been tried in the past, back then it had not only lead to deaths of the other race, but also humans that unknowingly got caught in the cross hairs, which would lead only to more wars. It was only logical to believe such would happen yet again. However, the leaders were stupid like humans and sought to have peace that would never be there.

Though because she sadly wasn’t one of Undine, Tatum had no say in the matter and was forced to swim along quietly with the many others that followed behind in order to protect the leaders. Their trip had of course been unsuccessful, as she would have liked to point out three days ago when they started the journey in the first place, arriving home in the very early hours of the morning. The gates to the town creaked open loudly as they came to them, a light blonde mermaid floating just inside the entrance looking completely disappointed in the group, her arms crossed against her body.

“I would assume that by your return, things do not go in the way which I wanted.” Neema spoke almost harshly as she glared out towards them. Having been born into the role of the leader of the Undine she was of course used to getting as she wished. Making her in Tatum’s mind, stupider than the rest. “I assume there is a reason that things didn’t go smoothly?” She asked eyes pointedly looking at Tatum, already blaming the one person from the one family she didn’t like.

“Yes! Because this whole damn idea was so stupid that even the sirens could see that it would never fucking worked!” Tatum snapped at Neema, her tired mind not even really thinking of the rebuttal of her words. Not even seeing the consequences that her actions would have, but the insult that was pointed towards her. Turning away Tatum left the others in order to not only calm down but to get away from the one person she would likely ever feel hatred for. Swimming towards the Island closest to the city, she sat in the sand until her skin finally dried out enough to be able to walk on two legs like the humans do. Even though she hadn’t been on Grey Island very much lately, she very often came here to get away from the others. Most of the others didn’t like to be out of the water more than they had to be, however, for her it made the perfect place to get away. She closed her eyes lying on the soft grass.

The sound of a boat being pulled to shore wake Tatum, making her peek through the bushes, on the land near the beach. She most had fallen asleep here, and she couldn’t help but be surprised that someone else was here. It was not a common site for others to be here, let alone humans. They always seemed to stay busy in front of their little boxes, and little time with nature. She watched the human closely as he started walking the other way, before heading quickly back to the water, jumping in. Normally she would rather stay away from humans, they were dirty beings, and often threw their trash into the water.

Still the fact he was here did peek her interest enough to follow him from the water around the Island to see what he was doing here. If he tried to bump something in the water, then it would only be fair to lull him into the water for what he had done. The longer that he walked without doing so, the more curious and totally careless she got. Not even realizing that he had seen her until there was a gun pointed at her. Tatum's eyes widened in shock of the rash reaction from the human, looking back at the water. She could easily get away, just dive under the water, likely before the trigger to that gun was pulled. Get the others and come back to attack the human as he was now with her. However, he would probably be gone by then. His words brought her glaze back to him, eyes narrowing.

"Who is the stupidest? The one watching, or the one that pulls out the gun?" She yelled up at him, tone almost matching his, finding it rude that he thought she would lull him away into the water for the hell of it, like a siren. "I was here first you annoying little human. If anyone should leave its you!" She added keeping to the harshness that he had started out with.

The whole council room was clearly on edge listening and watching Sable and the young witch fight argue with the young brunette. Tobias sat watching the exchange between the two quietly, however, the only thing he could think of was the fact that, though he agreed with the witch. She was ruining everything he had been planning since hearing about the upcoming party. Of course his plan had nothing to do with the others, he already knew that they wouldn’t help. Sable had such a tight hold on most of the others, that even though Dahlia was making a good point, they would never agree, as Sable would never agree. His reasoning only proved right as Sable tried to say the war was avoidable. If it wasn’t them that started the war, it would be another race that started it. If they started it, however, that would give them all of the power. They would be the ones in control of the war, instead of pawns in it.

However, none of the things the witch was putting out on the table to the others would help him. Now they would be watching to make sure that the coven behaved, he was older then Sable of course and had been working for years to get the man to trust him. So that the annoying man was out of the way. Now it would be all ruined! Tobias couldn’t help but glare at the woman, letting his mind get clouded with the thoughts of others around the table thinking she had lost her mind.

He waited until the motion was carried before getting up and headed to the door, only for a skinny little redheaded witch, Eliza to step in front of him smiling. “Are we going to have lunch together again today, Tobias?” She asked tone hopeful, face red from blushing. His coal gray eyes lingered on her face for a moment, a amused smile on his lips before shaking his head.

“I have something else to attend too today Eliza.” He muttered moving past her. Truth was he had gotten most of the things and information that he had needed from her. She was weak and foolish, but he kept her around, hanging on a thread, just in case.

Tobias headed out towards the courtyard following her using the loudest of her thoughts. It was amusing how cocky she seemed to be inside, yet she ran out at the first chance she had. “You are aware of the fact, that you won’t get anywhere like that. Aren’t you?” He asked her loudly from a little ways behind her, leaning his body on one of the poles holding the roof above the benches. “The best way to get around Sable is stroking the fools ego. While you go about your way stabbing him in the back, and undermining him when he goes a way you don’t like.” He added much more quietly. Of course what he was saying was much easier for him. His magic being mind magic, he could read the ideas from Sables mind, change the old man’s thoughts to make Sable no longer believe what others had seen Tobias doing.
