His question had left Lia realizing that she was speaking so much more to him, letting him see more into her world than she ever let anyone. Whether or not it was his angelic presence or something else, she knew that this was potentially problematic, but... he was answering all of the questions she wanted to know about what her life could have been like if she had flopped. She stopped her thinking before getting back to him. "No need to apologize. I know it sounds odd, but Lucifer, he doesn't survive well in this plain. His hosts often can't handle him, and he vowed after his last trip topside to only return again when the summoned began coming out in large numbers."
Most demons didn't have the privilege of speaking to Lucifer, however, it was something Lia had been allowed for a long time. Just as Lilith had before she became a summoned. She had simply assumed Zephaniah's curiosity ended there, but she could see something in his eyes. It was beautiful, but tortured, and she never looked so deeply into another's eyes. It was as he spoke of his home, but she could see other things. She was only brought back when he asked her about hell. Of course she had been there, she had been branded there when she was younger, but remwmberong it was difficult for her.
"It is actually lighter here than down there. But hell... it's unimaginably plain for demons. It's full of dead things, and depending on where you are it's either in flames, in ruin, or you're on the dead river. But the screams of the human souls... it's horrible." She recalled, her eyes beginning to darken again. She hated hell for that reason, it tortured her angel half and made it hard to control. It was trying to shield her memories at the moment, but she visibly winced at the memory.
"I recall walking past the river, this has been long ago, and this girl was just screaming, trying to fight off her torturers." She paused. It was the first time she had broken one of the laws of hell. It was why she hadn't returned in a while. "Needless to say, I couldn't take it and I fought them off for her. Found out she had been a demonic witch, and the demons had been followers of her master."
She stopped talking, and she heard the music change again, but she couldn't bring herself.to move. "Be glad your home is paradise. To be honest, I am glad I haven't been back in a while." She sighed, and finally brought herself to move from him. "Walk with me. And I believe a change of topic is in order."
As she took his hand in hers, she felt a rather hard bump against her shoulder and when she looked up she saw Arik. "My father will hear about what you did." He growled. Lia moved her hand from Zephaniah and crossed her arms. "Siding with one.of them. You know better."
How did he know what she had done? Unless her father had reached him too. "Well, your father scares me about as much as a wet kitten, and besides he can't do anything, remember? His darling little slave offed herself last year."
Now Arik looked surprised. Lia turned to Zephaniah. "Come on, let's go for that walk."
"And now you're hanging with the angel crowd? Odd for a demon and an angel to get along as well as the two of you appear to be." He scoffed.
"Well, unlike you, Zephaniah here is actually quite a conversationalist." She said before walking off, and when Arik began to follow Lily showed herself. It kept him at bay and Lia looked back to Z again. "Sorry about that, Arik tends to be... well, an ass." She apologized. "He hangs around because our fathers know each other, and it gets kind of annoying after a while."
