Well no, I mean I'd expand on the other members of the family and play them as well, but the only one I've given a lot of thought to is this one bastard. I'll get started on a preliminary draft.

Got'cha. =) Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I got one!

Alright, so I was weighing between Qorgyle and House Osgrey, but I noticed that House Osgrey's membership as of 209 is detailed in The Sworn Sword. I notice we're using canon figures in the RP but I was curious if I were necessarily beholden to creating Eustace Osgrey and so on rather than creating my own.

I can make that choice very simple for you!

Osgrey and Webber, because we're right at the spot in time when that went down, are unavailable. Why? We've never been fond of stepping on Martin's toes, and taking either of those Houses would be downright dancing on the poor man's feet.

Why does it matter, though, it'd end up being an AU no matter how we slice it.

After giving it some more thought I feel as though a house from the Iron Islands might suit my ideas better, so I've switched over to drafting House Saltcliffe. I'll drop by the chat room once I have access to my laptop and toss a few ideas around before I finalize it.

I'm not quite sure how to word the introductory sentence of this post, though I would like to state my regret and apologies for my thus far unexplained absence these past couple of weeks. One would think the beginning of summer would cause life to slow down, but oddly enough it has been just the opposite for me as I've come into new, very time consuming commitments, and I'm afraid I'll have to essentially drop off the face of the internet for a fair amount of time RP wise. I've no one to blame but myself for not bothering to inform anyone until now and would understand if it seems like I all but abandoned this along with the token other RPs I was involved in. While I'd love to actually find time to write out everyone's favorite Pirate Vikings, I fear I won't have the time necessary to have it live up to the standards of writing I've thus far seen from everyone.

I hear House Greyjoy just opened up.

My penultimate cheeky comment aside, I wish you all the best of luck with the RP and hope to at least remain a lurker. I'm sorry for effectively holding the Iron Islands back from actually doing anything with my absence and hope someone will pick them up for a go, since clearly I'm not cut out for running an entire Kingdom's storyline, or any storyline, for that matter. I'm not going to ask for forgiveness or anything, as I know I don't deserve it, but good job so far and I look forward to excellent writing from everyone in the future. (If I can manage to sneak on and read, that is.)

I'll go and remove that eyesore of a WIP now.

House Velaryon

History:

House Velaryon has been close to the ruling Targaryens since before the doom, having relocated West alongside their Valyrian brethren due to the prophecy of Daenys the Dreamer. Taking up lordship of Driftmark, the largest island off the coast of the future Crownlands, Velaryon remained strong supporters of the Targaryens. Aegon's mother was a Velaryon and when he invaded Westeros his master of ships to hailed from the household. Since that day, three Targaryen Princes have taken Velaryon women for wives.

Throughout the years, the Velaryons have upheld the laws and diktats of the Targaryens, siding with the Blacks during the Dance of the Dragons and providing the largest fleet directly available to their royal overlords. Curiously, the House was suprisingly inactive during the Blackfyre rebellions. Unlike conflicts, the Velaryons had blood on both side of the conflict, their lineage entwined with both Targaryen and Blackfyre lines. To some extent, this has earned them the ire of the current generation of Targaryens, but they were not so quiet on the matter as to be deemed traitors. The previous head of the household, the bumbling fool Viserys Velaryon has recently died, having failed in his general duties as Master of Ships. While choking on a capon bone, there are some muttering that his younger sister may have had a hand or two in the matter, as the now de facto ruler of the House.

I put a post up, just to accelerate things in the Gulltown Tournament to a stage where they can actually happen: the Tyrells, Redwynes (Emmon, Arron, Halmon), Rory Reyne and anyone else from The Reach (or elsewhere) who traveled to KL with the party from Highgarden and caught a ride on The Arbor's ships are now at Gulltown.

I tried to avoid directly talking about people's characters as much as possible: if you didn't like how I portrayed the few which I did talk about, feel free to let me know!

Sorry to see you go, Sloth! :c

Does anyone have any feedback for my House Royce?

“We were reavers once, kings of salt and rock. Now we kneel to dragons without dragons and follow a man whose body and mind are no longer his. Surely we can aspire to more than this.”

House Greyjoy and its lords were powerful reavers in the days before Aegon’s Landing. When Aegon the Conqueror first stepped foot on the mainland of Westeros, the Ironborn controlled the Iron Islands, the Riverlands, and Harrenhal under the leadership of Harren the Black. House Hoare ruled as kings, but they could not stand against dragons. Dragonfire brought the Ironborn to heel, and once House Hoare was extinguished Vickon Greyjoy was chosen to lead the ironmen in kneeling before the Iron Throne.

With the deaths of the dragons during the reign of Aegon III Targaryen, called the Dragonbane, the Ironborn may have risen against their conquerors. House Greyjoy was formidable enough to command the respect and fealty of their vassals, but they have been plagued by unambitious lords, content to reave in the far corners of the world, if at all, in cooperation with the Targaryen sanctions on Ironborn raiding. After remaining aloof from the Blackfyre Rebellion, the Greyjoys had an incredible opportunity before them. The realm was defenseless, having splintered their armies against each other, while the Iron Islands were at full strength. Lord Maron Greyjoy, however, was no reaver, no conqueror, and certainly no king.

He is, however, possessed of great longevity, much to the annoyance of the heirs he managed to outlive. At 76 years of age, only now are his mind and body failing, and upon his passing he will leave his seat at Pyke to his grandson, Vickon Greyjoy, the eldest son of his late heir, Balon. There is a clear line of succession. Vickon and his wife, Alannys, have a son together, named Balon in honor of his father, but nothing can be truly certain. The krakens are gathering from all corners of the known world, and they are a treacherous lot. The astute claimant to Maron Greyjoy's seat would be wise to keep a wine taster on hand and a blade at his bedside.

We begin this tale of succession, intrigue, and conspiracy with our eyes turned not to Pyke, but to Tyrosh, where a long errant son of House Greyjoy plans his return home.

I think it's looking well, but let's wait for Vanqsie to cast her lovely eye at it :).

I like the old lord thing, people waiting for him to just die. An Essosi flavoured Ironborn is interesting, and he will have trouble commanding the respect of his kinsmen.

The Greystark though? That clashes with canon. We know the Greystarks were the last to command the Wolf's Den and White Harbor, but that was a 1,000 years ago before the Manderlys (ousted from the Reach around that time) took up residence in the North with sanction of Lord Stark. The Greystarks are extinct.

However, it does not clash with canon too hard, I find, to diregard the character. A forgotten son, last of his damned line? I think it's juicy. Have you checked with the Stark player?

I'm glad you like it!

The primary thrust of Brandon Greystark is that it's much more likely that he's just a descendant of some northern bastard son who wanted a name for himself. After all, sellswords in Essos can take just about any name they like. The question his potential story asks is how much that actually matters when the chips are down and swords are drawn. He's betting on "not much," but we'll see.

I'll drop the Stark player a line. I can pretty easily make him a Mudd, Teague, or Gardener, depending on who's okay with this guy's existence.
