I think I'm going to make a second character! A skinwalker to be exact...hehehe.
Interesting, I could roll with that. The skinwalkers from my novel have some stuff added on to them from the mythology, though. You don't have to make yours like mine, obviously, but here's some points about my species just because I feel like elaborating on it:
-If it's going to be a pureblood, they have a virus that's going to make them start rotting and falling apart when they become adults, eventually turning them into zombies. Conner doesn't have this because he's mixed and humans are immune to the virus, but a fair number of his relatives do. A lot of skinwalkers choose to marry humans or other races deliberately to spare their children that agony, though, so there are a LOT of mixed breeds running around. I even have some characters that are half selkie.
-They only get to shapeshift into one animal, and the type of animal is passed down from the father. Usually it's larger/more fierce then normal specimens. (Most of Conner's family are various types of bird, although his grandmother is a wolf.)
-They're more aggressive as children but otherwise the young ones aren't distinguishable from humans until adolescence, apart from having eyeshines. Purebloods can live to be around 250 years old, for human hybrids it's more like 200 depending on how mixed they are. Both stop aging naturally after 30 or so.
-They have a distinct family hierarchy, with clans lead by an alpha couple (which is more in charge just depends on their personality). The alpha male grows antlers at puberty if he's born into it or whenever he takes charge if not. The females all get fangs and claws for their part, though. There's also a beta couple as well who have some power and influence; the beta male doesn't grow antlers but he sometimes wears a deer skull on his head to show authority. There's a lot of drama and in-fighting in clans because purebloods are so inherently hostile even to each other. It can get really nasty, to the point that you have things like meeker individuals being ostracized for not being strong enough to defend themselves, and maiming/killing the children of rival families to eliminate competition. Generally, they're not a very hospitable species.
Conner's uncle is the alpha male of his clan, but because of how the hierarchy works half of his family would have to drop dead before he had a shot, hence what he said in the RP. Plus, he's way too docile to survive because of being raised in human society.
