Shiranui disembarked, wondering what Kalos is like.

Liam went East to train his Pokemon some. He focused on the ones that were not weak to Electricity.

Shiranui however went straight for the gym, confident his Pokémon were strong enough.

"Well, looky here; another baby has come to challenge me!" stated Lt. Surge. Shiranui was gobsmacked at how tall the gym leader was. "The name's Lt. Surge and if you can beat my Raichu, you'll win my badge."
"I'm not afraid of you!" rebutted Shiranui, "Bring it on!"
"If you insist, baby; go Raichu!" Lt. Surge was unmoved at Shiranui's rebuttal, keeping his smug attitude as he let his Raichu out.
"Raichu, the Mouse Pokémon and the evolved form of Pikachu. It can loose 100,000-volt bursts of electricity, instantly downing foes several times its size."
"Jean, it's showtime!" Shiranui released his Alakazam into battle and felt his mind get linked with Jean's. Lt. Surge was not expecting to face an Alakazam.
"You may have evolved your Pokémon like I have, but can you handle it? Raichu, Thunderbolt!"
"Jean, time to use that new move I taught you! Psyshock!" The Alakazam was faster as she slashed the air with her spoons and launched an X-shaped psychic wave at Raichu. Raichu tried to counter with a Thunderbolt, but the attack was not strong enough to block the Psyshock and the electric mouse was hit with major damage.
"Raichu, Quick Attack!"
"Jean, Confusion!" Raichu ran at Jean and struck her with a tackle before getting caught in a psychic grip and hurled up at the ceiling and then down to the ground, leaving Raichu dazed and confused.
"Raichu, Thunderbolt!"
"Jean, Psyshock!" The Alakazam launched the same X-shaped attack from before and Raichu got struck another heavy blow. Raichu tried to launch a devastating Thunderbolt, but tripped over and hurt itself in confusion. Raichu was knocked out and Lt. Surge returned it, saying, "You have beaten me fair and square and for that, you have earned the Thunder Badge and my respect."
"Thank you, lieutenant," replied Shiranui as he left the gym with the badge and Jean followed him out.

At the Pokémon Centre, Shiranui left Jean to heal and noticed a lot of trainers waiting for their Pokémon to heal. Having faced Lt. Surge, he knew how strong his Raichu was and figured the other trainers' Pokémon had been beaten.

Liam used a few potions and other such items to make his trained pokemon fighting fit, a piece of advice his mother had given him a few days before he started his journey. He entered Surge's gym. Surge immediately called him a 'baby' and called on Raichu. Liam scanned Raichu with his pokedex. (since it was just typed I am not going to post it.) Liam called on Phanpy. The small blue pokemon gave a happy cry when it emerged. Surge scoffed. "You think that baby blue joke of a pokemon will beat my Raichu? I just stomped another trainer today that had the same thought. "Raichu, Iron Tail." Surge called.
"Defense Curl!" Liam called. Phanphy curled up into a ball to increase its defense.
" That little punk is going to use Rollout next, what a predictable strategy perfectly suited to a baby." Surge thought to himself.
"Now ,Attract!" Liam called. Phanphy uncurled and winked at Raichu, who fell in love. Raichu used Iron Tail and hit critically.
"Defense Curl!" Liam called.
Raichu was immoblized with love and unable to use Iron Tail again while Phanphy began Rollout. Raichu was to lovestruck to make another move and was KO'd quickly. Surge gave Liam the Thunder Badge. Liam thanked him and went to the center where he saw Shirauni. "Hey, guess who just won the Thunder Badge!" He said with a smile.

"That makes two of us," replied Shiranui as he showed Liam his Thunder Badge.

"Well I guess that means we just need to wait on Chuck to get the badge." Liam said as he handed over his Pokemon for healing.

"Say you want to go check out Diglett Cave while we wait on him?" Liam asked as his pokemon were returned to him.

"Sure," answered Shiranui, "From what I read, the cave is a shortcut dug out by Diglett."

Liam went to the cave to try and train his pokemon.

Shiranui trained at the cave to prepare himself for the trek to the next gym.

[Azure Flame]

After his intense training, both Diglett and Sandshrew evolved into Dugtrio and Sandslash respectively. He then took on the gym, and with Dugtrio managed to beat Lt. Surge, earning his third badge.

Liam did some hard training in the cave.

Diglett, the Mole Pokemon,Lives about one yard underground where it feeds on plant roots. It sometimes appears above ground. Its skin is very thin. If it is exposed to light, its blood heats up, causing it to grow weak.

Dugtrio, the Mole Pokemon and the evolved form of Diglett. In battle, it digs through the ground and strikes the unsuspecting foe from an unexpected direction.They are extremely powerful, and they can dig through even the hardest ground to a depth of over 60 miles.

After training Liam returned to the Pokemon Center to heal up.

Siranui followed Liam back to the Pokémon Centre and healed his Pokémon.

[Azure Flame]

Chuck healed his team at the Pokémon Center, waiting for the guys.

Liam saw Chuck. "Got the badge?"

[Azure Flame]

"Yeah." he said. "My Pokémon did great!"

"I'm glad to hear it," replied Shiranui, "We have a long trek ahead of us."

[Azure Flame]

"Yeah." he said. "First we have to travel to Cerulean City, since I heard the path directly to Lavender Town is blocked by a sleeping Snorlax, and there seems to be no way to wake him."

"What if we try my Clefairy's wake up slap?" Liam pitched. "Or better yet, just throw a Pokeball? If it is sleeping it should, in theory by easier to catch."

[Azure Flame]

"I heard people tried, but it wouldn't wake up, and it kept avoiding capture." he said. "The only way to wake it up is a PokeFlute."
