- Little Feather -
Little Feather had been toying with the idea of seeking out a companion to explore with the prospect of being around another person was strangely...exciting at this moment. Her only issue was every time she tried to decide on who to ask, her own suspicious thoughts talked her out of it. “Dragonfly, who to ask?” She murmured to the spirit animal as he flittered around in front of her casting his light on the grass beneath her feet. She shivered involuntarily as she felt something brush against her neck, beneath her hair, she barely had time to process this however as something slammed into her shoulders sending her forward onto her knees without warning. Dragonfly flashed in alert whirling over to her side he spun circles around her head, until she got back to her feet. “What was that?” She asked him, turning around to see what had pushed her.
She barely had time to register her surroundings before an invisible weight fell on her shoulders she gasped in surprise, bowing her head as something flicked her forehead she swung her hand up trying to swat away whatever was there.
She missed of course, shivering a second time as another unpleasant sensation tickled the back of her neck. She was completely thrown by the entire ordeal, her suspicious instantly jumping to the conclusion that malevolent spirits were after her. She hadn’t been expecting the side swept kick it literally took her feet out from under her, causing her to fall back onto the ground with a heavy thump and small exclamation of pain. Dragonfly flashed again, his color shifting to that of a warning red as he fluttered by Little feather’s side. “I’m OK” She wheezed at the concerned animal, pulling herself upright as fear rose up inside of her threatening to override her unnatural excitement but feeding her suspicion. “...maybe we should go back inside” She suggested to the dragonfly as he buzzed beside her, she reached round to rub her back.
Before the Lakota could retreat from the trickster pair however she was suddenly set upon by a mob of crows, she released a high pitched scream lifting her arms to cover her head as she crouched low to the ground feeling their claws graze her skin as they spiraled around her cawing at her. Her fear truly piqued as Dragonfly fled the birds heading for the safety of the cabins and leaving the young woman to the mercy of the darkness...she hated the darkness, by now all traces of excitement had been beaten out of her. Once the crows had gone she stood up shakily hugging herself tightly, she looked in the direction Dragonfly had gone and back at the door leading into the lounge. She had just taken a step towards the lounge when a raccoon carcass was thrust in front of her pulling another girlish scream from her lips, feeling a strange flood of warm air by her ear she flinched away from it spinning on the spot as the carcass hit the floor she blindly bolted from the clearing diving into the woods in an attempt to escape what she suspected to be evil spirits.
She couldn’t see a thing in the darkness as she stumbled between the trees encased in a bubble of fear without the aid of the trickster pairing her mind gave shape to the shadows surrounding her, monsters that weren’t really there clawed at her as she ran, clawed hands scraped at her skin as she passed by the trees when in reality she had passed to close to the shrubbery surrounding them. She only stopped running when she eventually looped her foot under a tree root which wasn’t cliche at all she broke her fall with her arms barely stopping herself from going down face first, she scraped her elbows on the hard roots of one of the trees. Her breath left her in ragged gasps as she sat back up pushing her long hair off of her face. She stayed where she was, the weight of her fear glued her to the spot. Before she hit full blown panic her trusty light source zipped his way through the trees coming to rest beside her sheepishly, she breathed a sigh of relief lifting a shaking hand to her head...her next problem was now she was pretty sure she was lost and she couldn’t be sure she’d outrun those troublesome spirits.
- Mercy -
Mercy felt her stomach sink as Zivon tried to stop himself from crying, she was struggling to resist the urge to comfort him she was generally good at that kind of thing with the right words on her lips and a gentle attitude. However her instincts told her it wouldn’t be as simple with the boy before her, he seemed so nervous one wrong move could crumple whatever confidence he already had. Her forehead had creased with concern as she settled her dark blue eyes on him, careful to avoid his eye if he willed it. She felt a wave of sympathy pass through her as Zivon gave her a weak and broken smile, it really tugged at her heart strings as if they weren’t damaged enough.
She smiled warmly at Zivon her eyes taking in his appearance he clearly wasn’t ok. “Don’t take this the wrong way but you really don’t look OK honey” She murmured, amusement briefly entering her expression as she heard the young boys stomach rumble at her suggestion about getting some food. “Well that answers that you simply must come with us to grab something to eat” She smiled at Zivon the concern leaving her expression as she got to her feet and turned to Darwin.
Mercy was relieved to see Darwin’s grin return, it was unsettling how much she had grown accustomed to his jovial disposition. She tilted her head to the side as he looked down at his sneakers the happy glow having left his face again, a look of concern crossed her face she was starting to worry about him now. She offered him an encouraging smile as he turned to her. “Trust me there will be” She assured him before he turned to the blonde girl beside him, she ran her fingers into her hair idly waiting for Darwin to make a decision though she rolled her eyes as he grumbled about Seven. “Darwin...Seven hasn’t really done anything bad enough to warrant that reaction, remember he didn’t know who had the numbers he picked” She gently chastised the unicorn, reaching over to poke him in the side playfully. “It’s not bad at all, come on cheer up. You’re still as awesome as you were before” She winked at him, smiling encouragingly before she turned back to the others.
“I think we can get some food from-“ Before she could finish however Zivons ankle gave out on him, Mercy inhaled sharply as she lurched towards him crouching in front of him as he landed with a soft thump. Before she could ask him anything she noticed the blonde girl was crawling towards Zivon, she raised an eyebrow at her as she gave him a gentle smile and greeted him wondering what she was up to. “I’m just going to take a look at your ankle ok Zivon” She murmured gently to the boy reaching over she moved his hand away from the swollen ankle, taking a quick look at it before she lifted her gaze to scan the room in search of Little Feather. She was aware of the Lakota’s ability to heal...she felt a little disappointed that she wasn’t still in the room it left her one option. She blinked as the blonde girl passed her a first aid kit, she took it gratefully placing it beside her...she was going to need that in a minute without a doubt. “Thank you” She smiled at the girl, she really needed to learn her name.
“OK, I can fix this just relax, I promise you this won’t hurt a bit” She assured Zivon holding her hands above his wounded ankle they begun to glow dimly with a soft white light, a slight tinkling noise filled the air as Zivon’s pain seemed to fade away, literally draining from his body even his weariness would have ebbed away replaced with a sense of refreshment. Mercy managed to stop herself from wincing as she transferred over his injuries she had luckily got down on her knees as she felt pain course through her ankle, she smiled reassuringly at the boy as the light in her hands faded away and she sat back, the slightest bit of tension rising in her spine. “All done, how so you feel?” She asked him, resting her hands in her lap. “If you’re feeling better how about you three go ahead to the restaurant, I just need to put this first aid kit back and I’ll follow you” She suggested looking at the holographic girl, the blonde one and Zivon as she gripped the first aid kit tightly in her hands giving them no reason to believe she was in any pain, though she had deliberately not looked at Darwin. She half expected the unicorn to bounce off with the others if they went, though a part of her hoped he’d wait...she wasn’t sure she was going to be able to get up on her own.
