Mikota in classMikota listened to her history lesson about the village and the tale of the hearts.
Fueled by Love, Hate, Lust, Envy, Rage and other powerful emotions these jewels tapped into arcane energies and imparted them to a Neko companion. These energies varied from person to person and were a reflection of the human's deep emotional state.
This caused Mikota to wonder about herself as she'd manifested a jewel heart several weeks ago and it frightened her.
She'd named it Firestorm because when she first looked into it she'd seen what looked like the surface of the sun.
Was she internally angry; or was it something else?
It was puzzling and she knew she should likely talk to someone older an more knowledgeable but she was embarrassed.
What if it weren't anger but seamier emotions? She didn't feel as if she were a wanton desiring without limits the more primal nature of physical contact.
"What else could fire symbolize?"
Such thoughts and their distracting nature was the reason her instructor pegged her on top of the head as she stared out the schoolroom window.
"Miss Tanaka you are the last student I'd suspect of having spring fever, please try and refrain from daydreaming till after class if you would" says the instructor as she walks back to the front of the classm
Mikota turns a deep scarlet and wishes she could crawl into the top of her desk an hide as the class stares at her some laughing.
