I think I would like to take a last tally of who is still here before starting the attack. I'm thinking I'll open an interest check for new members. Since we have an undefined number of crew members, new members could already be a part of the crew.

Certainly. At the time this is taking place, the Dark Brotherhood has (almost) been destroyed, but it was more of a recent thing, so your character could have been one of the assassins that survived its downfall, as was mine.

At the present point in the story, we are just about to seize our ship, so there won't be a chance to recruit new crew members for quite some time. However, we currently have an undefined number of unnamed recruits for the job. You could say that your character is simply one of the people Sharee's thieves guild contact recruited. Essentially, you would just say your character is already a part of the crew.
