Setting: Welcome to Arts Academy in the Woods! Where creative minds meld in a free spirited environment, for better or worse. It's the first day of the new year at Arts Academy. Students will be moving in and getting aquatinted with teachers and peers, and first impressions are everything. Students are allowed to pick their own room mate, if they choose, provided they are of the same gender. Students are encouraged to explore the courtyard grounds and the beach, as well as visit the coffee shop or cafe to pick up an application. Class schedules will be available between 9 am and 5 pm in the main office, as well as Student Council applications. Tonight there is a welcome back meet-and-greet dance, starting at 8 and ending at 11.

Klaus Kalogeropoulos. Boy, were the students going to have fun with that name. The new teacher grinned a bit at the thought as a student worker handed him his iced coffee. "Efharistó," he said to express his thanks before turning to wander the grounds, the transition lenses of his glasses darkened by the sun. He was given the tour over the summer and introduced to a few teachers, so he had a...vague idea of where he was going. Soon enough, Klaus found himself right where he wanted to be: the beach. He approached the water, though didn't get close enough for it to wade over his shoes, and gaze out at the horizon. After a moment, he slowly sat himself down as to not spill his coffee. Settled down, the Greek sighed and sipped at his beverage, finding nostalgia and comfort in the rumble of waves crashing against the shore.

Anderson
Anderson's palms sweat heavily in the leftover summer heat of September, trapped in a car filled with Channel no. 9 and his mothers endless chatter. She was probably just as nervous as he, movements jerky a she navigated the four hour drive up to Northern California and through the mountains. The rising and falling sensation made him nauseous. The whole experience was exciting, but the machine gun of names she began throwing at him was where the doubt began.

"If someone asks you if you want to meet Molly, Lucy, or Mary Jane you call me young man." She said, her pointy fingers gripping the wheel as they hugged the side of the mountain and her gaze on him.
Eyes locked on the road, all Anderson could respond with was "Who?" Before she began again, and continued until they pulled into the luxurious, old style Academy.
"Do you need me to walk you in?"
"Bye, mom. I'll call you."

A large green duffle bag, a nylon string guitar, and a rolling suitcase
came with the giddy newcomer. Anderson was all too aware of himself as naive compared to most of the kids here, and the thought social embarrassment was gut wrenching. At any rate, who was Mary Jane? Anderson had only ever kissed a girl once in his life, and wasn't much concerned with them. Questions reeled in his head as he entered the boys dorms, dropping his bags in the first empty room he could find. First floor, room 4a, just off of the courtyard entrance. Perfect. Slipping out of the room into the morning sun, he stared unsure into the court yard. This was going to be harder then he had previously thought.

Jean
Jean sat with a graceful stillness reserved for dancers, large amber eyes examining the excitement and commotion around her. Such a contrast. Rising slowly she grasped her sweating plastic cup of ice tea, ice sloshing as she glided down the steps leading from the class hall, south of the court yard. There had been an influx of new teachers, and although she wouldn't consider herself to have been there long , the free spirited culture shock was always new the first year. The meet and great dance that night had been partially her idea, and Jean was excited to meet her new students in a less then formal environment. Finding herself an abandoned corner of the court yard the dance instructor began her usual morning yoga, savoring the momentary quiet corner.

((Sorry everyone. Not very good at starters >~<))

~Matt~
Matt chewed on the sleeve of his sweater nervously as he stood around awkwardly in a corner. He started walking slowly through the hall a little lost...okay not just a little lost. He was a LOT lost. He had neglected to ask before he left the front desk, where the welcoming dance was going to be. This had left him wandering here for a long time hoping someone who notice his distress.

Lea and Terri had flown into the closest airport to the school on one of their father's private planes, and he had arranged for one of his associates to pick them up. Their dad had wanted them to take a limo, but the girls had begged for something less showy so a Mercedes Benz pulled up in front of the school instead. The girls got out of the back seat, and the driver handed them their bags out of the trunk. Each girl had a globe trotter brand rolling suitcase, a Coach purse, and a laptop bag. The girls thanked the driver and headed into the school. Terri lead Lea to the front office where they picked up their class schedules before going to find their dorm. When they reached the courtyard Lea grabbed Terri's arm to hold onto. In the halls she had simply been following her by ear, but outside she had to hold on to Terri to stay with her. They walked across the yard to the girls dorms where they dropped off their luggage and other bags in their room.

Terri pulled her laptop out of her bag. "I'm going back outside. There were a few others out there. I might talk to them, or I might work on some sculpture concepts. Do you want to come?" She asked as she headed back towards the door.

"No thanks." Said Lea as she pulled a collapsible cane out of her bag. "I kind of want to explore, and try to learn my way around this place."

The girls headed back outside together, but once they were out of the dorm Terri headed out into the courtyard after turning Lea in the direction of one of the other buildings. Lea headed for the building Terri had directed her to, and after a few minutes of wandering the halls she heard footsteps approaching her. "Hello?" She called as she stopped walking not wanting to bump into the other person.

Rozu got out of her car and grabbed her clarinet case, flute case, guitar case, and her suitcase out of her trunk. She turned her strawberry blonde hair swishing over her shoulders. She was nervous for her first day back after vacation. She had spent almost all of her vacation learning more English but she was still far behind on her studies of the language. That's why she enjoyed the Academy. Her music was her voice and her art her words.
Aida got out of her fathers car. She quickly grabbed her bags and waved goodbye to her father as she turned around and looked up at the school. It was her third year at the school and she was excited, as always considering her ADHD making her even more hyper than she was at that moment (she may have ate some Pixie Sticks for breakfast). Her short bright orange hair made her stick out in the crowd heading towards the dorms. She broke away and went into the cafe to escape the insanity outside.

Samantha&Jesse
Samantha floored the gas pedal as she and her brother sped down the winding road to the academy. "SAMMMMMY!!! Don't go so fast!!" Jesse cried from the passenger seat. She laughed, "I know what I'm doing, I've been practicing!" The car approached the school at a break neck pace only for Samantha to break and turn so that the car spun quite stunningly into three spots, the car was unfortunately sideways. Jesse practically launched himself out of the car, "Next time I drive.." He grumbled as he unpacked some bags out of the trunk. "You drive way to slowly, I cut down our arrival time by two whole hours. If I let you drive it would take us YEARS to get here. Plus our parents wouldn't have bought us such a nice car if they didn't want us to show off a bit. And I believe our theme for this year is rich snobs, we gotta act the part." She helped with the unpacking. "Freshman year was unawareness, sophomore year we were geeks, I thought we were doing the 'cool cats' act this year. Hell, I even brought cool sunglasses." Jesse carefully slung his bass over his back. "Cool kids it is! Get settled in your room and meet me in the courtyard." Samantha patted his shoulder for good luck as she walked away she called, "Don't piss off any seniors this year, I wont let you use my dorm as a hide out this year!" Jesse waved as she walked away, what a jerk Sammy could be sometimes.

Berri sat silently in the car, head leaning against the cool glass window. Her mother and father sat in the front seats, but as usual, were utterly silent. Berri liked it better that way, however. Their strained and awkward conversations were better left unspoken. Not that they were bad parents; Berri was very grateful that they payed for her tuition and other expenses. They just felt more like weird robot caregivers than parents... Just as Berri's dad was was about to start saying something- to both her and her mother's obvious dismay- the school came into view. Her mother breathed a sigh of relief, manicured hands folded neatly across her lap.

As they pulled up and parked, her father began to unload her suitcases from the trunk.

"Ah, Susan, can you help me? I have a huge strain in my back." said her father to her mother.

'Almost as strained as your marriage...' Berri thought while hugging her parents goodbye. She let out a huge breath, releasing all the built-up tension that had probably accumulated from the six-hour car ride. Then, she began to walk to the office, picking up her schedule. Unsurprisingly, nearly her entire sheet was filled with drawing classes. Intimidated by the large amount of people meandering around outside, she decided to head to a quiet area by the beach. She sat on a pier overlooking the ocean, legs dangling above the sandy surf. Her hand gradually drifted to the sketchbook in her backpack.

She spotted a lone figure on the beach, sipping from a cup that appeared to be from the local coffee shop. "A student, perhaps?" Berri wondered. He looked mysterious, gazing off into the distance. She couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking, who he was thinking about. Before she realized what she was doing, a rough sketch of the man had already planted itself firmly on her paper. Berry laughed; the spontaneous nature of the whole situation caught her off guard, and she couldn't help but feel like a creep, even though he hadn't seen her. So, she hastily put back her sketchbook and reclined on the pier, taking in the sight of waves rippling across her view.
