Good!

Okay, so... this is an NPC to some extent. An ancient power of a sort which I'm assuming Chall's power wakened. I'm thinking that Wren may have some untapped magical potential which might be utilized to trap them together all the more, so here is a possible impetus. Or, maybe he's just aware that they're about to embark on a journey. :) However you want it.

Hmmm, thanks for the info. . . .I think I may have missed something here, but is the "Snake" suppose to represent Chall' natural magic, or something else entirely?

I had initially meant it to be Chall's natural magic, but if it suits something else, feel free to make it that. That is the great thing about working with someone else, sometimes one's ideas get turned on their heads. :) He might be going after a spell someone put on him, or perhaps he's capturing Chall's actual essence, or ... who knows? I see him as very ancient and very powerful and luckily, not overly interested in people. Kind of like maybe this pond had been a druidic sacrificial hollow complete with stone alter or something. Or maybe he's just the embodiment of the old magics and there's been enough care taken in this town that it remains strong enough to actually gain a body when the spirits of the pond over-drain Chall.

I am really quite open to any way you wish to interpret it all. If I'd had a very set idea, I'd have told you so you could work around it, but I rarely get too set in my ideas when RPing because I've had that shifted under me often enough that I find it somewhat naive to try and direct everything when I'm co-creating as opposed to GMing or some such.

Heck, I've even had the story shifted out from under me while in complete control of the story line, so I REALLY don't do more than have some semblance of an idea which can morph at any time.

At present, the only driving idea I have is that this area is far more magical than it ought to be and that Wren has been under the magic's wandering eye for some while. In some way or another, the ancient magic of the area has wanted Wren and if that is to fulfill Chall's destiny or to help the area out or make a change in the country or... whatever - there is an intelligence of sorts which is keenly interested in the pair of them. :)

I like asking, not assuming, just in case my partner has a great idea, and one which I would love to see realized, so often times, even if something is left open, like the case in point, I like to see if there is any particular idea behind it. Not only to see what my partner intended, if anything, but also so I can get a feel for them better. In this case, you intended it as Chall's magic, and followed that with a list of ideas. Being able to read the ideas better allows me to reply in a way that will avoid conflicting with my partner, and make for a more fun and entertaining RP :P

I too have had an RP ripped in a direction I did not see coming, however more often than not, when it comes across entirely unexpected, it has almost always been to the detriment of my and my partner's enjoyment. Then again, I am stubborn in some things that my partner does not know of until they rub it the wrong way, and quite often with many partners I have upset them by trying to put and RP back into some semblance of order after a rather rude upset. I do not accuse you of these things, you should know, however I hope you do not mind me asking, often, of some motivations you may have for one thing or another.

It is good to know how open you are on these things, and from now on I will try and relax a bit. Oh, I have not mentioned it before, but I am a stanch believer in fully sharing all NPCs, no matter who came up with them originally. This does not mean I disagree with raising an objection should I use and NPC you created in a way you do not see them acting. I believe coming up with personalities and patterns for reoccurring NPCs is a good thing and allows for free use between player. I only bring this up because you called the spirit. . ."an NPC to some extent." I need to know if this means you would not like me to use him/her(May look like Wren, but I do not assume gender based on what form a spirit decides to take least it be stated at their own form).

Sharing NPCs is just fine. :) Please feel free to make him/her/it/them do whatever you wish.

It's funny, I've definitely thrown a wrench in the works at times, completely by accident, merely because the character's driving force insisted they respond to something in one way while my partner wanted a different response. Then again, I've played to others' hopes and intentions and ended up losing the character completely (it happens in particular when I've got to get a character to fall for another's without good cause - turns everything two dimensional). Therefore, I suppose I'm a firm proponent for following your own sense of story. We'll thread things together and make a new weaving which neither of us knew was possible. Some of the greatest shifts have come from that. Do let me know if something I do mucks up plans you had or pushes your characters in places they don't want to go. I can always, always pull back and redo a post to make it easier for the both of us.

As for everything else, I find myself writing out bare bones with a lot of flexibility so that my partner can co-create. Much like improvisational theater, provided we build on what the other has set out, we're going in a good direction.

And please continue to question whenever you'd like to. I'll be as honest as I can be, so that you can choose. Unless I'm in direct control of an action (in which case I'd write it out in post) I'm pretty flexible, I hope. Heh. So even if I'm throwing out ideas, do know that they are mostly just brainstorming or trying to put words to a somewhat tenuous idea which may or may not be something else entirely given what you'd like to see happen. I suspected you had something of a plan for them to be stuck together and thought you might utilize an NPC to make it happen if necessary. Either way, it was FUN to put a face to the magic of the pond. ;)

I think the important part is to have fun, and that is what I intend to keep doing. I'm glad you seem to be having fun too :P Thanks for the clarification on the NPC, and as to the flexibility, I like remaining flexible too. However one must always remember, thought a willow may sway in the strong breeze, if it's roots do not remain strong, then the wind will take the tree away, and one is left with nothing. . . .(Silly little proverb I made up :P)

Thank you for poking me!

So I am realizing that this year, work is NOT going to let up. Generally I can stumble along but I've had a work partner change shift and as she won't be replaced, I'm now doing much more than before. There is little I do which can be given to someone else, unfortunately - without hiring someone with the same qualifications as myself and as that won't be happening ever, I'm going to be hit or miss much more like a shot at two hundred yards with a water pistol. Heh.

That means that I'll be still here AND I'd not expect me to kick it up any notches. Please let me know if this doesn't work for you. I would understand. Otherwise, I'll keep plugging away when I get opportunity to do so. And as tonight is the only night I have without extra duties for a good week again, I shall endeavor to get you a response in hopes your "Poke, still alive?" poke means you can keep up the moss growth pace. ;)

I am fine. I understand that RL takes precedent, and I am in no hurry. I can wait as long as it takes :P I just poke everyone every month or so just to make sure I am not forgotten :P I am happy with our RP, and it's worth the wait.

Random status check: Are you enjoying the RP thus far? Anything you'd like to see more of? Less of? Ideas for future events?

I am enjoying it very much.. though now I'm wondering if I totally did that post too quickly. I can redo it easily, just let me know. Its very likely he went home and made himself some tea... was stuck between the two extremes and I feel like I may be too tired to really have a sense of what fits the story. I'll bow to your opinion.

I, have no idea what happened there. Did Wren insult the land and I miss it? *Wide eyes* What's going on!? :P

Kidding. I am confused and would like to know what's wrong with him so I can work it into my post, but I like idea of something happeneing right here.

It's good to see you back!

It's good to be back. It's a tenuous back, but I'm really hoping it sticks.

As for what happened... I have no idea. I'm throwing something out there... which made me second guess having done it in the first place. Heh.

I was going for a secondary response to Chall's interaction with the spirit. But I suspect I just hijacked the whole thing. GIve me a mo' to fix it.

Actually.. it might make sense - I'm assuming Wren hasn't done anything wrong. It is Marge's interpretation that he's offended the spirits. In truth, I think the spirit may have just cast a nice lil' leash about his neck to keep him bound to Chall?

Sound okay? Otherwise, I really CAN go and have him get to tea, leave the tether in Chall's POV, which would be a neat way of approaching things as well.
