Name: Tai Yang

Alias: Has not earned one, feel free to create one if you’re impressed.
---
Age: 21 years
---
Species: Human ???

Personality: Tai Yang is in many ways, reminiscent of a boy, granted one of stature, strength, vigor, and discipline. Tai Yang loves to fight and play, and certainly to combine the two. Any physical activity, he will jump in, especially if it involves the whole body heavily. The world of the supernatural as well as that of technology is fresh and strange to him, yet he accepts it with innocent naivety. He does not hesitate to play games with tricksters, try to meditate with the mentalists, or wrestle with monsters. Tai Yang always seeks out new people and new encounters to improve himself in spirit and body. His intense morning physical training, for example, is a daily ritual that most humans could not survive, much less use as a warm up to greet the day. Tai Yang has a kind heart and will not hesitate to help others, with one notable exception. Tai Yang’s most adult trait is his concept of the honorable warrior. If he believes that someone’s battle is not just for victory, but for their pride, he will not intervene unless called for. Note that Tai Yang’s concept of a “battle” ranges from duels to the death, to spirited volleyball matches, to cupcake baking contests. Also, for all his enthusiasm and vigor, he isn’t the smartest, though he can be clever in his field of expertise (fighting).

History: Tai Yang grew up in a monastery, and then proceeded to surprise everyone when his physical training seemed to take him to inhuman levels. There was seemingly no explanation for the fact that his training and meditation granted him strength beyond mortal possibility. Sure, he trained harder than any other initiates of the monastery, and he took the lessons more to heart, always willing to lend a hand and pay no heed to the needs of self. But they truly weren’t expecting this reward! Tai Yang was of such prodigious strength that he often came to the rescue of nearby villages, capable of rescuing cattle from drowning in a river flooded by a broken dam, or blow out a spreading barn fire with merely the shout of his Kiai. Eventually, his spiritual and physical strength reached such heights that local spirits came to him for their own problems. While surprised, Tai Yang treated them with kindness and all the consideration he gave all living things.
One fateful day, Tai Yang was directed to a desolate valley. Everything that set foot in that valley died. No plants but the most briar filled thorns took root. The very stones blazed with fire, burning the eyes of those who looked upon it. And a fell wind blew from this place, a dying breath that spread the sickness of this desolate valley and had claimed Tai Yang’s master from the monastery and many of his friends among the locals and the spirits of the land. Tai Yang gazed upon it. It was bright, but no brighter than the good sun which beamed down from the sky. Tai Yang smiled at the challenge, and stepped forward. Tai Yang breathed in deeply. It was sick, but no sicker than the breath of those he had comforted as they were dying of plague, and their last words he would never trade away. Tai Yang smiled at the challenge, and stepped forward. Tai Yang’s steps passed through the briars. They were sharp thorns, but no sharper than the teeth of the mountain his monastery was built on. Tai Yang smiled at the challenge, and stepped forward.
At last, he found the source of the corruption. The form of a great dragon lay around a pillar, barely stirring. Its breath was the only motion. The great jewels of its eyes and scales, which should shine like the stars, were as cheap stone slathered with mud. It was a dying dragon of the land. No malice lay in its heart, but with its death came the death of this land. No longer could it sustain this hidden land away from the rest of the world. Tai Yang swept his hands across the pillar, revealing that this land had been sealed away from the rest of the world during the war between mankind and supernatural by the dragon who did not wish to fight like the rest of his kin. But even for a dragon, the mighty enchantment such as this could not be maintained forever alongside its duties to sustain this land.
Tai Yang spoke to the dragon, hands on the dragon’s scales, not sure if it could hear him. Tai Yang said he would defend the land against whatever was outside. The dragon could rest easy that Tai Yang would defend the land, if he would only still breath the land full of life. The dragon disappeared in a great flash, taking rest inside Tai Yang’s mighty body and spirit, and Tai Yang’s little slice of ancient times dropped back into the real world with no small amount of fanfare and a quick bout of map editing. But times had changed, since the time the dragon sealed away this part of the world. Hikari Ryodan Academy now guarded the balance of the world, and to keep his promise, Tai Yang headed there.
