Vegas huh? Maybe it was the same conference.
Though I doubt it. Our conference only had about 93 people registered or so - quite a few of which didn't show up until late due to weather back east (if they showed up).
*Shudder* Tutoring in English. I disliked that. When I tutored a few years ago I mainly did Math and Statistics. However, I did get one or two English.
But it's good to know other people love to do English. Less work for me.
Charging isn't that hard - depends on location - $10/hour might work. Also depends on who you are tutoring. Friends might not appreciate being charged. *nods*

That's a cool class. They should be teaching those in high school instead of some other junk that gets taught.... Oh well. But awesome.
Yeah I've known for some time I was going to get my MBA in Business. At five I was trying to sell stuff to my family and neighbors (though my mom stopped me going from door to door). I've narrowed my focus once in the university but still...
But true, many people don't know. My older sister changed her degree 3 times before finally graduating (of course - she had to quickly graduate so I wouldn't beat her through college. )

Oh money follows - just how much depending on how many hours you work, how much taxes there are, and what job you have. :)

O_o 2:30? That's late. But cool, it's up.
It looked good. Hopefully, I'll have a response in a day or two.

As for being okay, well....I'm alive.

Maybe it was, which would have been funny. ^^;

It's a good thing I don't consider anyone in class to be my friend. XD Cha-ching for me. Naaah, I did give one nice girl my number in case she needed help studying over the weekend since she seemed to be struggling with missing a day of class. I felt bad for her.

Oh I just found out my old bff from middle school (who I caught up with the other day) just graduated with a degree in business but she doesn't really like it and can't find a job. I'd hate to be in her shoes. Classes and working for major and possible minor or emphasis takes work and money, probably more money than logic should allow. I hope to get my degree before my older brother does (though he's in the Navy) so I can rub it in his face. Haha! Gotta love sibling rivalry.

And hurray. I'd love a post soon whenever ya can. As long as you're alive and all. ^^;

That would have been funny. But doubtful.

What? No friends in class? Oh - and tutoring individuals in the same class isn't the same. You can't charge them. That's just wrong. :(
You both are trying to push your way through it. You have to help them succeed. Now if you have finished the class and are tutoring - then you can charge.

Doesn't like business????? That is wrong! That is insane! No one should dislike business....
Well...now that I got that over with - actually some people are not good at business or don't like it. That's alright. We need plenty of other members of society - Doctors, lawyers (well....), artists.... *sigh*
The good news is - less competition for me. What is she going back for?

Yes, sibling rivalry. Works wonders in motivating individuals.

Alright - I'll see if I can get something up today. I have a few things to put out as well as other things to wrap up but hopefully....

Update: Post is up. Let me know if you desire changes. Poor Jen. She gets to see the Doctor for who he really is.... Mwuahaahaaa! I mean... :(

It's safer to tutor in something lower, but sometimes teachers do make you help those in class, which I guess could be awkward or problematic down the line. Ya never know.

I don't know if she's going back, I think she's just going to try and find someplace to hire her, though it's not like your major dictates your exact career so hopefully she's happy somewhere. :/ I could never put myself through a major I didn't love, especially with tons of math and businesses stuff.

Oh yay a post! I should get something up tomorrow, it's too late for me to focus and I just finished my midterm. >___>

Your post was fine with me, I'll have Jen touch le Dalek in my post and then skip to it going all psycho heheh. Though probably before that, Jen will want to have a word with mister sassy pants. And I'll have Ten deal with the death and then get a room with Summer at the local inn, and one last word from Shakespeare for the night?

That it is. Tutoring someone in a class you have already completed enables you to better assist them. However, I've been in several classes where sometimes helping each other out can get you past that little block that is stopping you from your homework. Combined with the fact that many students are afraid to talk to their instructors (no idea why - I was constantly bugging my math teachers), it works.

True. Many jobs just require a bachelors in something. Once you have a degree they will hire you. But yeah - if one can, one should follow what they enjoy to do. Making extra money on something you despise doing is not worth it. There are only so many days in a lifetime. Why ruin them? But then again, one does need to make money to survive and sadly some jobs just aren't profitable. :(

Yup. Posted. I'm glad it worked with you. I was hammering it out yesterday trying to get it finished.
Mister sassy pants? Him? Noooooo.
That works. As for Ten/Summer - I have no problems with that plan.

How did your midterm go?

The worst thing would be teaching someone something that you thought was correct but then it ended up being wrong and then you'd both be fucked...

My other friend's dad wants her to get into micro biology but she doesn't really like it but since he's paying she feels like she can't have much of an opinion on the matter. I hope she can figure out what she likes. I know my parents never nudged me toward a certain job even with them paying for everything. It's hard to remember how lucky one's own situation is.

Yeah okay, coolio. I'll get something up tonight. I think. :3

I think I did okay. The pretest I took a few times was much harder than the real one (mostly because the content was more scattered and some of the pretest info wasn't even what we covered) and I managed a 75 in it after four attempts. So the real test was much easier for me and it covered pretty much one or two topics, and not the eight or nine I was expecting. There was only one question that I really struggled with and my teacher was grading right next so me so I felt the pressure. Overall, I think I did good but usually my feelings end up being vastly different from reality. So I'll find out tomorrow I think...>___>

How's work been treating you?

And that's when having a teacher to help is good. Yeah, trying to help someone when you aren't so sure is a bit difficult. You don't want to accidentally lead another student astray.

That's a bummer. I don't know. I understand some parents want their children to be "successful" or do things that they had wanted to do. But honestly, if I was a parent, sure I would want my kids to go into business (it's the best field. ) but not everyone is cut out for it. And sometimes you got to let someone do the career they want to do (especially as they are adults). However, if I'm paying I do expect that you aren't just blowing your classes, taking whatever is easiest and switching degrees every three semesters.
I'm glad my Mom doesn't push me. Then again, everyone in my family knew I was going into business since I was young. So...not sure the best example.

I hate that. You think you did well and then it turns out so differently. Well I hope you did well. Got to keep that bar high :D
Does that mean school is now settling down again, at least for a few more weeks?

Work hasn't killed me...yet.
Actually it isn't bad. I'm glad I have the internship and I'm learning some awesome stuff. However, it is different then my University job or my classes. I have several projects running right now and my boss wants me to quickly wrap one up so I can start another. It's different but good. I'm glad I have it and the experience is great

Gosh, you really <3 business. XD I guess that's good though, you found a passion and you're good at it. Sometimes people have a passion but suck at it. That would be awful. But I think to be truly passionate, you should have some skill with it, which may help it grow and such. I'd never force my kids in one direction, however if they picked a route I had reservations about, I'd probably speak up about it. But I don't want kids so I doubt it'll ever be an issue. Some parents can be super overbearing though.

Last time, I thought I did so-so and ended up doing really well. So it's usually the opposite of how I feel I did, is how I really did. I hate being asked how I thought a test went, it's just so a foggy question. School should be settling down, I have one more 'section' left and it's graph theory which is like connecting the dots on an empty plane (w/o actual X-Y lines) so it shouldn't be bad. Then the final and that's it. *cheers* No more math forever! Granted I pass this time but I think I will~

It seems like the internship is helping you stay fresh and interested. I know my friend loved his but he couldn't cope with a job plus school plus an internship so he had to drop the job which was really good. Hopefully you don't overwork yourself. And hopefully the internship can turn into something more, down the line, granted they know you're a student and can understand time management issues.

And I'm working on my post.

Me? Love business
Maybe just a little
But yes. I was trying to sell paper items to my family when I was five. I wanted to go door to door but my mom said no (Thankfully... the products were a bit sad...)
Business is fun for me. But I know many people who should not do business and should stick at what they do best. I have an artist friend whose drawings are pretty cool. She hates numbers and will never go into business. However, her talent is art she should stick to it. It would be a waste for her to go elsewhere. Just like it would be a waste for me to go into the art program. :)

Yeah, some parents can be overbearing. However, some can be to loose. I've seen some kids without any discipline and it isn't pretty. It's a balance. Hopefully if I ever have any I will find that balance.

No more math???? Ever??? WHY?
Math is so awesome. You shouldn't stop. Keep going. ;)

Yeah...A job, internship, classes, and everything else... Good news is only ten or so weeks and then school will be finished, my one job over (which is actually a big bummer) and possibly a full time position with the company I'm interning at. We'll see. But it is busy. So far I've managed to handle it. We'll see...

No rush. I'm not sure I'll have a response up until Friday/Saturday so don't feel like you need to get it out on my account.

See, you loved it as a kid. Everyone has a knack. :3 Everyone also has some form of kryptonite.

A lot of kids these days get away without punishments and rules and good habits. My and my friend were discussing how to actually raise kids to have respect for parents and to actually try food and not be little shits like most of the kids today who end up cursing out their parents or never heard the word no.

I feel old.

If you want me to keep taking math, that means you want me to kill myself. T______T

Sounds like you've got a good plan or an idea anyway so that's good~ And I don't have much to do, save for one or two other posts so I'd rather get yours up now and maybe one other tonight, then I can rest and let the lull of rain put me to sleep.

EDIT - Posted~!

True. Kryptonite? Me? No...

Yeah, that annoys me. Discipline and structure should take care of that. Parents need to show their kids that certain things are not acceptable. I can't go in and start cussing my boss because I didn't like what she told me to do (or he for my University job). Children shouldn't cuss their parents and throw tantrums because they aren't getting their way.
Parents have to realize they are raising future adults and therefore train them as they want them to be in adulthood (while remembering that children will be children and that some instances are expected for that age)... Of course... I'm afraid I'm more strict. A good balance is always needed. Discipline but lots of grace and understanding. Being firm while loving... Yeah.

Old? Old? I highly doubt you are old. Considering you are just graduated (so you said - no I'm not stalking) you probably are still in your late teens (not that I'm good at guessing ages either...). Old is 70s, 80s, 90s years of age. Not anything near your age. *nods*
- I hope that didn't come off wrong....-

No. We don't want to do that. And I understand many people hate math. I actually disliked it in high school. It was only in college that I became a fan. But even then I didn't do many math classes...Though I did think about becoming a mathematician for a short time until I realized I would have to go back and redo some math courses as I had taken the business versions...Besides, Business was my thing. If I can split into two people maybe, but one - business all the way. :D

Rain? What is this word? I am unfamiliar with this concept (I live in an area that is just above desert - we don't get a lot of rain. :D)

Posted? Awesome I'll have to go read it. However, I doubt I'll get anything up. I'm slowly working on another one, going back and forth on a shorter one, watching a TV episode and then going to turn in. Hopefully by Saturday night (maybe earlier) I'll have something up.

I'm 23, halfway to 24 actually.

I'm the other way around. I loved math in high school but it became a pain in college. *hisses*

I love rain...I hate hot and dry weather and we're in a drought, so we need all the water we can get. >_>

And okay. ^^;

That's not bad. I just turned 24 recently as well. So when you claim you are old you are insulting me. Though I can sell you a walker if you really think you need one.

Good Genkai. Calm down. Retract claws. Don't take it out on me. Especially as I am such a nice person.

Completely understand. The smell of rain is awesome and we can always use the moisture. As long as it doesn't cause flash floods or destroy the agriculture community's crops

That's a pretty sick walker ya got there (oh I just thought about Walking Dead whoops). I'd take it and use it as a weapon and no one would suspect someone so innocent...heheh.

lol you're nice when I'm not looking right? XP

Actually i think we are getting floods, well not me. But whatever. That's not my problem. ^^;

Thank you. I don't need it personally but I can sell it to you for a couple hundred.
Though if can add little swords in the legs that will give you an even better weapon. Mwuuahahaaa! Someone wants to rob you? Bye bye robber. :D

Me? I'm nice all the time.
Though... ask a few of my siblings and you might get another answer.... :D

:( Floods are not good. Someone needs to set it up where the flooding areas send the extra water to the dry areas. That way the states in the southwest can have extra water to aid in the droughts.

I'd turbo charge it, add some guns, maybe some painted flames. Then it'd be badass.

Never count on siblings to gave ya a shining recommendation, at any age. Why be nice when you can mess with them instead?

I'm sure Britain would be happy to give us some water, they get so much of it, it seems.

And yay a post!

Well - add all that stuff and you take away the element of surprise. In that case it might be better just to have this

True. Very true. But that's what siblings are for.

Ahh but that would be more expensive to get it here. I was thinking a lot of North/Midwest states that flood can send their water toward the southwest region. :)

Really? Where???? Where did that post come from?

Screw south CA, north CA is the one who has to give them water to begin with. :/

Ahhh!!! Everyone run. Genkai is going crazy!

Well.... they do have their uses.

I was thinking about CA. CA gets water from Northern CA and from the Colorado river. I'm thinking of AZ, NM, NV. Those are the states that could use the water.

Pish posh. It's not magic. It has to be something else. Time Travel. :D
