For me it's just a matter of whether I have someone I collab with. For olderish people I prefer to have a partner to collab with, but for the younger people I just seem to handle it so much easier, and I tend to enjoy it more as well. Though I still like collabing a lot with them, but it's just easier for the singular areas for me since that's actually my weakest area in RP.

Hmm.. Nero is 50, aye that is pretty old, as far as this RP's history goes :P I think Rusty was in his fifties, and Dmitry was oldish.. Not many others though

My next Second character is likely to be 36/37 hopefully come in down the line once ( I hope.) Katrina gets approved, A 50 year old is still able in this kind of world, especially if they had a active lifestyle before hand.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely not saying a 50+ character is useless (i mean, look at Dale or Hershel from the show!), however it is interesting to note how not many actually have older characters. Personally, I find myself most comfortable playing characters about 10 or so years older than I am, though I wouldn't mind trying to write as an older character at some point.

I approve all of the aforeposted applications.
One note though, throwing knives don't tend to work very well, especially on zombies (unless you just stab them in the eye like a regular knife)
The one hit insta-kill from video game lore is fictitious, someone hit with a throwing knife would still take five minutes or so to bleed to death, just like if you'd stabbed them with a regular knife (only thing is throwing knives usually aren't long enough to puncture into the heart/lungs so you have to rely solely on them bleeding out)
That said, they still would hurt like a bitch if you got stuck with one.

I prefer older character because they are more likely to have more of a wisdom sort of view, of course not all older character will have the trait but giving a 20 year old tons of wisdom seems a bit more unrealistic to me. Just my opinion though.

There are some 20 year olds and below that have some wisdom, not many, but they exist

I prefer them too because they have more life experience and their background can be more detailed.
For example my character:
Been in school: Basic knowlege.
Been in USSR Army: Basic weapon knowledge, survival skills.
Been in university: Technological knowledge, social skills.
Worked in a bank: Technological knowledge, social skills.
Worked as a teacher: Ultra social skills.
Did range shooting: Better weapon knowledge.
Lived in post-apocalypse Woodbury, GA.: knowledge about Lurkers.

For the throwing knife bit I already knew that lol. I kinda wanted them to start out barely surviving with what they have, and she's not really the kill them type, just wound people to survive, thus she's lost three. Also I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a place to intro my characters in at. I don't know Washington at all so I'm heavily going to be relying on a map for this RP for now XD Also I take awhile to read due to an eyesight problem of mine so I probably won't finish catching up fully for another little while. (Started yesterday in school and have been reading as much as possible in the time allowed and I'm still on the first page (One more post for it though :D))

Hmm, well if your goal is to make it to Cougar Rock (since I'm not really sure where the other guys are :P), it seems like Ashford is the closest town. It's a small town of about 300, southwest of Cougar Rock - Jack's headed there as he heard that the smaller towns in the area may have fared better, but I figure he'll probably be stopped at Cougar Rock by finding some other character, yours, Shan or Shelton, before even making it there.

Just a thought though :)

Alright. That gives me a chance to get one item that wouldn't be all that hard to find in any house normally that I wished I'd started them with...(No it's not a weapon or food or any supply. Just a fun little thing that I like ^_^) And probably should give them something besides breakfast cereal eventually...(Yeah I totally spaced on a couple of things...Oh well I'll just have to be patient and make it realistic.) And every time I hear the name Ashford I think of an anime I love so much cause it's a school in there lol. Thanks again though for the place! Now to google earth :p

No problem! It's not like I actually know the area, i just google earth extensively and then follow up with wiki searches ;)

Also, random question to either AnnaBeth or Shelton (since I didn't see it in the recap), did the two groups from the last RP (the Desmond group and the Shelton group) ever meet up like they were trying to? Or was the last time they saw eachother at the the School before the horde attack? Because according to NewGuild Desmond Williams Lore, he left the group to have some time away from being leader and built a safehouse inside an abandoned apartment building for a couple weeks. After surviving on his own, he got bitten somehow and locked himself in the room, writing his last words and advice in his notebook before shooting himself in the head to avoid turning (which I suppose he did with an automatic rifle, because.. Jamie kinda stole his Beretta. And then gave it away to Shelton. How rude! :P)

Anywho, my question is, would Desmond have seen Shelton and the others and know they were alive prior to leaving? Or did the two groups never find eachother?

I didn't join until the middle of TWD Northwards, so I can only relate what I saw. Basically, there was a group that formed in some of the north-western states that migrated around a lot, gained and lost characters and did cool stuff much like the show's cast. They holed up in a school for a while and my character Matt (whom my username is based off of) a US Army Captain, arrived during this period. He remained with the group for six months, acting as a head of Security and organizing a small and effective militia to defend the group, occasionally butting heads with the more pacifist members of the group. A zombie horde of a little over a thousand rolled into town without warning one day and the Captain, aided by several militiamen, evacuated the women and children while his Lieutenant and the rest of the group led the defense of the school. Hundreds upon hundreds of Walkers were slain but in the end there were too many and the school as overrun, killing most of the group of 40+ including Shelton's Lieutenant who died (along with several comrades) leveling the school to distract and trap some of the walkers while a few others escaped into the wild. Over the next few months, Matt became the leader of his own group made up of several militiamen and the old group's women and children as well as a young woman, Shan, whom he formed a romantic relationship with. Unbeknownst to this group, the rest of the main cast had also survived and formed their own group further away, in (of all places) a different school. These two groups came close to meeting and reuniting on a few occasions but fate always stepped in and prevented their interaction. Jackson, a hardened criminal and ex-security contractor arrived in the area of Matt's group with a band of raiders towards the end of the RP. Shan, the Captain's aforementioned girlfriend, left on her own to find the school group or at least evidence of their survival and was captured by a roving patrol of Jackson's who beat and attempted to rape her. Shan narrowly escaped for a brief period but was quickly discovered again by the same patrol, now short one member (By her doing) and looking for revenge. The Captain arrived then, having tracked her to the bank where the ambush took place and expertly beat down and crippled one of her surviving assailants, chasing the other into an alley and feeding him to a pack of Walkers. The Captain then (to the dual horror and satisfaction of Shan) tortured the surviving Raider for information on his group and leader, then hanged him from a light post with an American flag patch stabbed into his chest as a message/calling card. He and Shan then made their escape to a secluded area of the town just as Jackson and his raiders showed up to answer the patrol's distress call. They found the corpses of their comrades and were briefly distracted by Matt setting off some .50 caliber machine gun rounds as a diversion. The couple shortly thereafter made their escape and returned home safely with Jackson and Matthew swearing revenge/declaring war on each other. The roleplay then died. Unless the roleplayer controlling Jackson and Jamie (one of the militiamen in Matt's group) decides to join the RP (and the new guild for that matter) it will be mentioned in passing that both died over the course of the roleplay, prior to the group moving deeper into Washington were they now reside. Any old RPers from Northwards, feel free to correct me.

IIRC, the story started with a traffic-jam. Shamblers gaining from the rear, some ditched their cars and ran, other went off-road, a few tried shunting the abandoned lunks of steel out of the way. I know how my first post started-up...

The cast first really meets-up at a gas-station, to wipe bloodstains off their windshields and fuel-up. Names were swapped and a place to stay was offered. Sounded safe enough... Heck, they even found a survivor holed-up in the stroreroom...

Then along comes a cop... the shoot first sort out the paperwork when I get home sort... Well, a mild commotion started, a survivor got bit... and then shots were fired... then it became a bit of an ambulance-ride from hell to a deserted cabin where a makeshift ER was made to amputate a poor girl's arm.

The noise had gained the attention of a sprinter from the traffic-jam, who also happened to lead the horde upon them... we lost the police officer in the skirmish... He knew he wasn't well-liked...

Then we happened across a nifty ghost-town... I forget its name (I think it had 'nighthawk' in its name), but we had that shit plotted on Google-Earth down to the crap-shacks... Here things settled down as we happened across a stranded group of 'special' students on a field-trip. Some uneasy friendships were quickly formed mostly out of necessity, but as things seemed less desprate, they continued to stay together.

Well... 'Ol Demitri had the idea to gather some better guns from an abandoned military-base... turns-out it wasn't so abandoned... and they don't take too kindly to looters...
-A bunch of characters died, old 'D got bit in the shin by his new zombie-girlfriend, and they ran to Shan's school somewhere in the process of de-taching D's leg.
-Meanshile, the police-officer waltzed back into everyone's lives, much to D's ire... but a student put him out of his misery, so no more loose witnesses...

Aye, that's definitely the most detailed description of the first half of the RP i've heard yet!

The second half was more or less a political version musical chairs, with power shifting from Emily (the group's doctor and really reluctant leader) to Minori (some badass biker chick), to Desmond (a lawyer) who had Shelton as his 2nd in Command. Meanwhile, a guy named Elias (who for whatever reason I wanna say was a stripper - Foster, correct me if I'm wrong) had his own control over a section of the camp, and followed the general rules while also just doing his own thing.

Then the school was attacked by a huge horde, and Desmond asked Shelton to escort all of the non-fighters and children to a train station a mile down the road that was safe. Meanwhile, the rest of the group made a last stand on the roof of the school. However when it became clear that they were to be overwhelmed, Desmond ordered an evacuation, getting just over half of the group to safety, while some of Shelton's soldiers stayed on the roof and blew it up or something.

Everything after that has pretty much been covered by Shelton, as by then he was quite firmly in the RP. Though I suppose I could give a few seconds for each character from the old RP that may be referenced by some of the alums, so that the newbies aren't lost.

Emily: Doctor, two children and a dog. Pretty sure the dog got eaten. Basically one of the leaders of the group, even though she didn't want to be.
Demitri: Foster's character - he can go into more detail about him lol
Elias: same as above
Laurel: Psychiatrist.. Or therapist.. Or something. I feel like I should remember that. Anywho, she was another survivor and ended up dating Desmond. She had two adopted children, Olive and Anwell. More on them later.
Minori: Cool biker chick. Was dating Elias. Got pregnant and handed the torch over to Desmond.
Rusty: science teacher at the high school the group lived in and fortified. Basically the "Dale" of the group. Played some mean guitar.
Izzy: ImmortalComplex's character - he can elaborate more if he wants :P
Phillip: An actor, generally pretty influential within the group and advised all the leaders, but never actually took power.
Jamie: Young soldier, ended up working under Shelton a lot. Originally stayed at the school to fight, but had to leave when he found a young girl still inside, and escorted her to Shelton's group.
Jackson: Leader of a large group of outlaws who at some point came across a large stash of military weaponry. Generally a major douche and primary antagonist toward the end of the series.
Olive: 13-ish year old girl, semi-insane (she went through some major shit post-outbreak), good with a gun.
Anwell: 8-ish year old boy, dual personality.

I finally have a Saturday off tomorrow :)

That means:
1) I shall get a post up.
2) I shall work on the OOC (posting accepted characters in the first page, giving some credit, and posting the summaries in the first page).
3) I will hopefully be able to get with all those who were former GMs of the RP on Oldguild and get their advice and possibly appoint lower mods to help Shelton and I keep this place clean (He had military crap to do and I'm full time in both work and college). So, be looking for a PM.
4)Creating a chat room for us all that will be up and running at all times. We can get to know each other better and hash ideas, as well as coach those who are a little weak in some places. I might post a tentative schedule for when I will be online.

I love you guys :) You should all fight Shelton to the death for my hand for valentines day *evil giggle*

I will be back online tonight after work. <3
