Jackdaw couldn't help but grimace, but it was at herself, not Varus. She'd gone strutting about and forgot her place, the captain was right to point her out. She'd have plenty of time to scorn the newcomer later if the opportunity arose, but for now, they were getting ready to set off, and the last thing she wanted to do was delay them.

With a straightening of her posture and a salute, she nodded to him, and then made her way back inside the ship, making a B-line for her quarters. Best to make sure all of her things were in tact and in place before the took off.

Dresden allowed a wave to the lot before matching Jackdaw's action--more snark in the cock of the eyebrows than any words, and that mostly hidden behind the darkened glasses, but still. She shuffled back to her own quarters, dropping whatever she had in her pockets onto her little bed--few loose coins, wallet, nothing too terribly exciting.

He soon finished the sharpening of his dagger and put it away. With that done though he packed his gear in one of the vacant lockers and went back to his quarters, taking a pass by some of the other's quarters for a quick assessment. It was nothing serious but just a cursory glance to notice any errors, though of course it was all while he was moving and no part of his body ever crossed the doorway. Regretfully he saw Max's access ID and password were posted on his desk. Part of him also figured Jackdaw to be the type to keep a copy of any necessary documents on hand though well hidden. Considering a good deal of the soldiers he worked with had to write down any password that wasn't their birthday, this was a good change of pace since it was only one person who had this issue. The tourist act did give him some insight into how well the group handled unexpected situations but had left a bad impression with some members of the crew. He would of course touch on that but for the most part he was just working on the ship's security until it came time to hack or kill something.

Dresden dropped her shit off quick enough--not much to do, after all, and though she considered dropping in for a nap or something, going and pestering Jackdaw was always a more fun activity, and really she hadn't had enough of that on shore leave. She strolled out of the room, and then stopped. The new guy--Remy? Something with an R--was poking his head into other people's quarters. Frankly, Dresden really couldn't care less if they wanted to keep their doors open, everybody's business was their own business, but the dude was clearly not just glancing in checking if they were home.

"Hey," she barked, "get in your own damn room or get out of the quarters wing--we wanted you getting up in our shit, we'd tell ya." She pushed her glasses up on her head, not quite threatening in posture but clearly not happy with the situation.

Rennac had finished taking another few notes down on his datapad when Dresden shouted at him, turning to face the engineer. Despite the attitude he was getting he tried to remain cheery and disarming. "Hey, Dresden was it? Never got your name before. Anyway, just running an assessment of the security measures for the ship for my report to Varus. Checking camera positions, finding blindspots, etc. Command wanted an analysis for any potential weakpoints so they can be patched up, both physical and digital. Logically that includes the quarters wing so I have to do an assessment here as well. I of course give as much leeway as I can to keep tempers to a minimum. No one likes having the security guy poking around but I'm the guy stuck with the job." In all honesty he was still doing his assessment and was under orders from command to fix any issues. Of course it would likely go beyond finding blind spots and installing new security features. If Dresden still had issue with him being there then more than likely it would need to be sent up as part of the report. Typically when someone takes offense to a security guy poking around it means they either have something personal to hide, or they are hiding something far more critical. Considering the consequences for letting it slide on the latter, it would likely at least get looked into.

She let out a huff, and shifted an appraising glare over his form, but one hand lifted up and dropped the shades back over her eyes. "Stay outta my shit. And tell Varus to let us know when some newbie on the boat thinks he's got the right to be poking around."

She stepped past him, slightly into Jackdaw's room, her tail following her and coiling on the floor but for the tip, which lightly tapped the other girl just on the outside of her ear, a strange little greeting but on the Demon liked.

Varus made his final checks and pressed the big red button... Causing a loud whine of gears and cogs to come to life, clunking and whirring as dust and dirt that had settled on the hanger's door shook as it rose slowly into place, sealing the outside world away and locking the ship into an airtight, flying hulk.

He let out a content sigh. While that noise would most likely be annoying to anybody else, to him it was bliss. After taking a brief moment to drink it in he turned and began heading towards the Command Deck. The CD was a flurry of activity, the flight crew making the final preparations to the launch sequence. Computers lined the walls and experienced people of several different races actively clacked away the the board to control them. Monitors showing numbers, trajectories, and other technological mumbo-jumbo. A pleasing sight.

Taking his place at the Captain's Console he pressed a few buttons and saying a few commands. Being patched into the ship's PA system he addressed the crew, "Attention crew of the Argent Dawn, the flight sequence has been initiated. Prepare to take off." Cutting the broadcast he then got in contact with the ground crews, "This is the Argent Dawn, requesting permission to take off."

"This is Flight Control, permission granted. Good luck out there."

Varus cut the connection to the ground and pressed the last few buttons and game the command to the flight crew, "Let's head up, lads."

All around them the ship was relatively steady, some light shaking, but nothing to bother anyone as the engines roared to life, slowly lifting the ship up, then the aft thrusters were next, powering up and sending the ship forward, quickly gaining speed until it was traveling several thousand miles per hour, breaking into space and settling to a relaxing pace as they drifted off to find something to do.

Jackdaw looked over curiously when Dresden entered the room. She'd heard Dresden and Rennac talking -or rather Dresden yelling and Rennac defending- but figured she'd stay out of it. It didn't concern her, she cared very little about what the new guy did around the ship, to be fair she wasn't a technical wizard, so she more than likely wouldn't understand a lot of it. She knew the workings of her armor inside out and backwards, but the ship? Different beast. At least to her.

She began to reply, but the ship began to rise, and she paused. A grin tugged at her lips, she felt relieved to be moving onward, and hoped they had a mission soon. She didn't want to be antsy in the middle of space.

"Hey," she said absently, rolling the legs of her pants up past her knees. Of course there was no legitimate reason she would have to armor up on the ship, but it was something to do, and if she did, she'd save a pair of pants from being shredded. "Finally off the ground. Was afraid I was going to lose my air-legs."

She didn't usher Dresden to follow her -not her place really- but she headed out of the room. She needed to be walking, moving. Maybe she'd grab a drink, she wasn't sure. Regardless, she continued to talk, heading out into the hall. "Wonder if the Captain has anything set for us."

Dresden didn't need to be told to follow, she did anyone. Jackdaw was ... interesting. Dresden's kind of person, friendly enough to make a little chat but not friendly enough to really expect any kind of friendship out of it. Far too many people took basic manners as an invitation into a life, which just wasn't how the Demon operated. Jackdaw took things as they really were.

"Maybe the Fed's got a new mission for us--go kill a buncha bad guys, save a buncha princesses, maybe get smoothies after," she quipped lightly, half serious. The tailed girl wasn't much for missions--or, at least was ambivalent to them. Sometimes worried a bit over the ship, been patching her up long enough to be a smidge attached, but usual the Dawn didn't need to go near the action, so she didn't need to worry over it much.

Were she a better person, she'd at least lie long enough to say she'd be sorry if someone on this boat got hurt--and maybe she would be, just a bit. They weren't bad people, after all, at least not for the most part, and Dresden does think that everyone (maybe even Jack sometimes) has to feel at least some bit of sorrow when a life is lost. It's a precious thing, after all, and Dresden, though she didn't have a real religion, was a decently spiritual person. She wasn't one to go around preaching the sanctity of life, wasn't going to start a hippie rally against violence, but most everyone has something to offer, did something with their time or had the potential to. No life should be lost without at least a drop of sorrow being tossed out there to mourn it.

"Never been one for knights," she mused, her on jab at humor. She couldn't hold a candle to the level of snark people like Dresden and Varus tended to throw around, but she liked to dabble every now and then.

As she walked on, her focus moved more to her own joints. She moved her shoulders around, bent her arms out and in. There were creaks and pops, nothing out of the usual, but she was growing tired of just stretching to get her exercise. For the briefest moment the skin around her neck shuddered a darker hue, traveling in a wave down past her shirt, and vanishing beneath her clothes until it passed along her feet.

"I'm gonna wear if we don't do something soon. It's been two weeks since I've shifted, gonna need oil at this rate," she grumbled. An over exaggeration, but it didn't mean much.

Dresden let her eyes wander over Jack, tilting her head a bit to look over the nodes. "We-ell, joke as I will, you need any help with that thing you can come to me with it. Personally I wouldn't trust any of the other lackies around here not to muck something up in there, but then I suppose I'm biased." It wasn't unfounded cockiness--she was good at her work, though technically rather low on the official totem pole--that was more from her own lack of ambition, however. Talented, yes, good at her work, quick to solve problems and then quick to implement what needs to be done to fix it, but perfectly content sitting exactly where she is, lest she start to have to actually interact with others to get her business done.

And the offer was genuine--partly kindness to one of the few on this boat she actually managed to get on with, partly her own curiosity to the workings of the armor that the other girl wore. It was a fascinating little gadget, after all.

"Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. I think once I get a chance to be back in my skin again it'll fix most of the stuff. Just...ugh, I feel naked, frail."

She continued on, making her way to the closest area she could grab a drink, and did so. She wasn't exactly a heavy drinker, -in fact she was something of a lightweight when it came to alcohol- but she could enjoy one or two every now and then.

So she took a seat. It wasn't so bad when she had something to occupy her, she focused on the drink more than the action, and it distracted her.

Varus stood his watch, making sure everything was ready and when it was and they were drifting, he gave the order to fly away from the planet, just to get to open space with all haste.

Yet now his job has just begun, so he made his way behind his through the double doors a small hallway and them another set, opening into a room that seemed empty, just a big white room with a few lights on the ceiling. When he entered though, a scan was issued and when it was done, a bing sounded and the floor in the center, a rectangle about 8 foot by 6 foot raised up, lighting on the top to reveal and display a 3-d view of the ship. For no reason he reached out and grabbed the nose of it, his fingers not feeling anything, but when he spun it to the right, it rapid spun to the right.

Content with his childish moment, he pressed a lit up button on the table, and over the PA system, "Tearys, Jackdaw, Teeth, Dresden, Maximillian, Ryder, Claire, and Rennac to the War Room."

While they were on their way, he opened up the icon labeled, "new" that was shaped like a envelope. Opening a list of files all sent from command. Each one coded a new way, in a new form to signify a new mission. He quickly browsed each one, knowing he would have a true change to go over them with the rest of the "council." Unfortunately a few of them were rather distressing. "Looks liek this is going to be an eventful week", He thought to himself.

Rennac nodded and tried to be placating with Dresden, deciding to just leave the rather than get into a fight with one of the crew. At this rate he was looking forward more to killing something than hacking into a computer. Despite the others considering him to be some newbie fresh out of the academy, he had learned long ago to deal with the usual guilt an emotions that came with killing people. It was a necessity with how many times he needed to slit someone's throat or run his dagger through another's heart while with the black ops division. Sure, the Argent Dawn and other flagships got most of the prestige, but it was typically teams like the one he was transferred from that did the really dirty work. He saw things that would create a shit storm for the alliance, did things that most would call him a monster for. And here he was, dealing with a crew who would be more likely to shoot him than work with him. He couldn't help but chuckle at the thought. "Suppose I would deserve it given the things I've done." His ears perked up when he heard his name over the intercom, finalizing the work on his datapad for his presentation about the new security protocols. He also recalled one of the equipment upgrades for ground teams, something that made him happy considering the tech involved in making it. The new model was still in the field testing stage but knew the lab tests showed no issues and great potential. Making a quick swing by the armory to grab one of the new helmets from the crate alongside his he soon arrived at the war room, taking a seat out of the way from the others. He was on the war council sure, but he knew to everyone else they would be more likely to shove him out of the airlock than listen to anything he would contribute.

Jackdaw grinned when the intercom came on before she could even hear Varus's voice. It was a sound she'd come to associate with excitement, and purpose. She finished her drink and started for the war room while Varus was still calling names, heedless to whether or not Dresden followed. Why wouldn't she? This was another step towards their next mission.

When she entered the room she paid no mind to anyone else present. She didn't sit, she didn't pace, she stood still as stone and kept her focus on Varus. The others didn't matter, at least not yet. She caught a glimpse of the new guy, and if she'd cared to say anything, might have been impressed that he was there so quickly. But no, his presence wasn't important when they were about to receive their purpose.

Was it just Dresden or was this becoming a thing? She couldn't help but smirk a bit, trailing after the warrior again. In a small measure of professionalism, she pulled the dark glasses off her head and tucked one arm into her shirt collar, letting it hang onto her chest and then shoving her hands into her pockets. Upon reaching Varus, she dropped her back casually against a wall and lifted a hand in a wave. "Who we killin'?"

Teeth arrived shortly after, and took his own seat, paws placed gently in front of him. Wasn't a fan of this room (granted that mostly came from the name) but he was the Head Medic, and knew he'd always go where he was needed on board. No patients at the moment anyway, after all.

Orders were orders...As much as she was uncomfortable with being ordered around a lot, Taerys recognised that going against the captain's orders was never going to help with anything. Besides, it'd probably be best just to collect herself up here for a while at least. Meditation maybe. It'd be a quick way to pass the time, at least. In all honesty, she wasn't looking forward to whatever shit Jackdaw was going to throw at her when she came back down. There was no chance of her forgetting about it either. If there was ever an antonym for the word 'Jackdaw' it'd be forgetfulness. And, uh...and a lot of other things come to think of it. Things that were probably not worth saying, but yeah, meditation sounded like the best option.

She wasn't entirely sure how much time had passed, but it was clearly not long enough, thankfully, for anyone to start worrying about her. Or get pissed off with her, for that matter. It was the unmistakable voice over the PA system that brought Taerys back into full consciousness. She regained her senses in quickly enough to hear everyone's names getting called out by Varus. She'd been on this ship long enough to know what it was about, though. Hell, she didn't even think that she really needed to PA system; they'd left the planet which always meant that Varus wanted to see the crew about missions and all that. She made her way down to the war room with haste.

The Varyx had noticed that she'd not seen anyone else coming to the war room but she'd hoped that she wasn't going to be hugely late or anything. Jackdaw wouldn't let her forget it, especially after her little, uh...incident. Regrettably, as she entered the room she saw that there were already quite a few people there. Taerys hated being the centre of attention with a passion. That was likely part of the reason why she was in the infiltrator team. She just hoped that there wouldn't be many eyes on her and stood there silently at the back, arms crossed.

The group waited a few minutes for the last three people to show up, mostly in silence. The lights on the board seemed to flicker and move like waves in the ocean, almost in a soothing way, but Varus knew what it meant, the ship was ready to reveal mission plans, and stars, and adventures.

Claire showed up soon enough, the slender creature looked like a female manikin, almost formless and and a pale shade of white, but her skin was almost living in it's own right, moving with pulses of blue, and red, and yellow, and green, and purple, and pink, and cyan. All just flowing over her skin. A face like her's had no features, it was just empty, but when she talked, "Sorry I'm late Captain, There was a communication error I had to correct." The part where a human's mouth would be glowed a bright light, brighter with the higher pitched notes in each word and softer with each lower note. Her voice almost silky smooth and soft, almost flowing through the air on waves of sound.

Varus nodded with a smile. Not matter what Claire did, he could never be made at her. She was invaluable as the ship's Long Range Communications Officer, she was the only person to make sure they got their mail and reports done right. For lack of a better analogy, she is the best damn secretary in the universe.

After another minute, loud clangs could be heard from down the hall, *thud* *Thud*. And as they got closer, they got louder, and not 5 seconds later the sliding doors opened to reveal an enormous reptilian man, about 12 feet tall, he actually had to duck to make in under the door. His chest was bare, but he at least had pants on. Although a hole was made in the back for his hulking tail. Once inside he let out a bassy and low grunt towards the whole group and dragged his tail in, the large bony mass on the end scraping against the floor.

Jackdaw continued to stand at attention, waiting with an induced obliviousness to the others around her save for the captain. She was faintly aware of Claire's entrance, and though she didn't really care about the secretary, she could understand why Varus would want her there. Again then, there was silence, and nothing, and in the absence she bounced on her heels, clicked her tongue behind her teeth, anything to pass the time.

Then there was Ryder, accompanied by the loud echoes of his steps. The giant of a man broke her concentration for only a moment, and in that moment she was reminded of her competitive tendencies. He was something else when it came to strength, even if a bit dull, he presented a fair bit of challenge.

After a moment of course, her attention returned to the captain, and she once again tuned out the other distractions.

Teeth offered a small wave to each of the newly entered ship-members, a friendly thing in place of the smile he would've worn if he could. Being Teeth, he liked literally everyone who was there--granted he was still getting to know them, but still, he could tell they weren't really bad people. Just who he was.

Dresden, on the other hand, simply curled her tail closer to herself around her feet--didn't want the big thing stepping on it, after all. In contrast to Teeth, she didn't care much for anyone there--most of them weren't actively disliked, but still. Just who she was, as well.

"This everybody, right? We gonna get started?" she queried, cocking a brow at Varus.
