Arcana (Featuring Ajala, Jack, Dagr, Fiona)
'Wasn't I right to defend the plants? Did I screw things up so soon?' Arcana stood in front of the glass chamber that held the snapping dragon tangler with her arms at her sides, hands balled into fists. Her cheeks were flush with anger and tears glistened at the corner of her narrowed eyes. From outside, she could hear the voices of the two boys, inviting the Gardening Club members to come with them. Her gaze softened and her hands uncurled from their fists. Arcana pressed her hand against the glass chamber that held the snapping dragon tangler, watching it's vines twine up lazily near the mound it rested in, content from eating.
She stayed there a moment watching the plant, before pushing herself away and blinking the tears out of her eyes. "Stay s-safe, I'll b-be back soon." She murmured fondly. She quirked her lips up in a too-perky smile, and walked out of the greenhouse door, bending to pick up a vented beetle-container from a wheelbarrow on her way. "He-hey. The Tr-Tree s-sounds gr-great. Lets go after we finish feeding the li-little ones!" Her voice came out slightly shaky at first, becoming more chipper as she continued talking.
Following her words, she started preparing the plants to feed, and, making sure the beetles couldn't get out of the area, opened the containers, shaking the beetles out so the plants could have them. Every plant seemed to spark to life, hunting the prey in their own ways. Some plants lashed out tiny tendrils out to grab the unsuspecting beetles, while others opened their flowers up invitingly, closing on any beetle that decided to rest there. Still, others dangled lures to attract the beetles and then struck with suddenly open maws.
She backed out of the fenced area, letting Fiona and Ajala do what they needed to, and turned to Dagr and Jack. "I-I'm Arca-cana, um... th-thank you. For w-worrying." She gave them a shy smile, lowering her gaze to the ground.
