There is actually a chain of stuff stolen in that line! WoW was actually supposed to be a Warhammer Fantasy game, but Games Workshop pulled out and then forced Blizzard to slightly alter the design and then making a huge gaming franchise out of it. Now skip to Warcraft 3, and the original DOTA was merely a mod for the game, but this mod got hella crazy popular similar to DAYZ. For some strange reason, Blizzard didn't trademark DOTA and then Valve came out of nowhere and swiped it from them! Theeeeeennnnnn, Riot games was developed from two DOTA fans and they obviously stole some ideas from the game, but made it much more noob-friendly and easier to play. And then everyone knows the spree of MOBA games that would come out after that.
WCIII came before WoW.
DOTA was just the first popular Moba game, which was, yes, a mod from WCIII, but the idea had existed previously. I'm just too lazy to look up examples (Mostly because they'd be hard to find under the pile of modern MOBAs.)
Also, just because two Dota fans made LoL, doesn't mean they "Stole ideas from the game", they just used the basic principal, which is NOT stealing. (Or, like, Doom or CoD would be the only FPS around.) All the non-mechanical elements of league are purely unique.
Actually... I'm mostly objecting to how you suggested WoW came before WCIII, because it didn't.
