Where ever you read that has some rather extreme religious views. Most sources agree that Belial came after, but it is your character. Fundamental differences and all.

But the difference in A-S I believe is a HUGE step. Also Masters should be incredibly difficult to verse.
Most of them will be B-C with the odd A thrown in.
