Because its scaled to your pokemon due to the fact after about level 20, you level up quite quickly.

It gets a whole lot better after the first gym. Keep it small.

That's usually my rule when I play Pokemon. I always find it fun when trying to find new members for my team. It kinda reminds me of One Piece a bit with how slowly Luffy forms his crew.

I now I realize that my team could die against Lt. Surge since he has electric types. I'm going to have to think about this.

The AFK system in PRO is really short...I was away for fifteen minutes and I have to log back in.
