[OOC] The Collector

I’m sorry you had to wake up like this, sleeping on the cold ground isn’t very comfortable. You’re probably wondering where you are though and why you’re here. Well that’s simple; you’re in my mansion which will probably be your home sooner or later. It doesn’t have to be though. If you can escape you’re free to go, don’t just try to break out through brute force though. My house doesn’t take that kindly and I don’t want damaged collectibles. Oh that reminds me, if you can’t escape you become mine, that is why I chose you. I wanted another special thing to add to my collection.

The Collector.

A group of special individuals, people or creatures with unique abilities, all find themselves trapped in the basement. They have no idea where they are or why they are there. On the door at the top of the basement stairs they find this letter and their confusion and worry spreads. The door is surprisingly unlocked. A key out of the mansion is hidden somewhere, guarded by dangers and fierce creatures/monsters. They aren’t the only monsters there however, seeing as a few of the kidnapped individuals are not human themselves. No-one can just jump out a broken window either, the house is enchanted to repair itself quick enough that trying to escape from said window would result in losing a limb or more. These individuals have to team up to face the challenges of the mansion and find the key to freedom, seeing as the front door is locked from the outside.

In this we’ll all mostly be playing the individuals who were taken, but they aren’t average people either. Each one of them have an ability, though some are inhuman, that caused this Collector to become interested in them. If anyone wants to play a previous collection though please ask, these are the creatures/ people around the mansion who now unwillingly work for The collector.

I’m cutting it off after I get 7 characters. I tried this before with more people on the oldguild and with more than 8 in total (The eighth character is reserved for myself.) and it became hard to follow.

The Collector is a non-playable character, at the beginning he is just a letter but when he eventually comes in I’ll be working him. This is due to the fact that he shows up too far in for me to make someone wait for; he’s not even in the mansion until that point.

Name: Alexandra Valentino

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Species: Shape-shifter

Appearance: Alexandra The dragon in the background is one of her many forms.

Personality: Alexandra almost seems mentally unstable, her mood changing easily and often being heard talking to herself. This is just the side-effects of her ability, the ones that never fully faded like the rest. Even so she keeps an optimistic outlook on everything. Alex has the heart of a lion, not one to show fear around others. She’s also extremely calculating, and thinks about things in the big picture. Sadly however her mental status often causes her to have bouts of anger or depression and when she’s in these states it’s best to not talk to her.

Fear(s): Completely going insane, tight enclosed spaces, being buried alive, and loosing who she is.

Ability: By mimicking another species or individual she picks up on their speech patterns and abilities, being able to use them for herself. The rest of her kind however can only mimic the appearance and speech of an existing being, while she can become one of their species and not a copy of someone else. This however can have serious side effects. If she remains as an existing being for too long their mind and personality melds with hers and eventually can destroy who she believes she is or drive her crazy.

Short History: Alexandra was born into a closed community of Shape-shifters and that’s where she grew up. Due to her strange abilities she was treated oddly and she grew to hate the attention. When she turned 18 however she overheard the elders of her community talking about her. They had planned on using her to destroy their enemies and make their later generations stronger, even if it meant using some sort of spell to bind her will to theirs. She left that night, heading into the human world and never looking back.

Name: Mr.Teddy, Mr.T

Species: imaginary friend/ ghost thing.

Appearance: he looks like a normal standard dark brown Teddy bear with a few stitches where he had gotten torn from wear and tear over the years. He has no fingers or anything but still is some how able to pick things up. His eyes are white and plastic with moving black pupils. He also has a tag on his elbow which says Dexter.

Personality: He is very scared a lot of the time and is timid. He would rather run from a fight rather than actually fight anything. While he is very scared a lot of the time he is usually happy the rest of the time.Fear(s): The dark, monsters, a whole ton of stuff.

Ability: Mr.Teddy has the ability to run really fast. Not super human fast but still really fast. He doesn't feel pain due to being a stuffed animal and can thus survive a lot of things that living breathing things can not but he also won't heal naturally and is very susceptible to sharp attacks. He can also store stuff inside of him through a little hole under his arm.

Short History: Mr.T was the best friend of a three year old human child on earth. Mr.T and the child named Dexter were the best of friends even though he Mr.T wasn't actually alive but Dexter sheer will and belief that Mr.T was alive brought him to life thanks to the help of mystical entity bestowing life on the stuffed animal. Mr.T and Dexters fun ended soon after that as Mr.Teddy was taken away from Dexter by the collector soon after gaining sentience.

Other: his goal is to get back to his best pal Dexter

Name: Xerolo'kk Hirnacht'k (Pronounced X-ero-loo-k H-ir-na-ch for those wondering. Nickname him Xerc.)

True Age: 1201

Appearance Age: Although hard to make out, he's about 6 in dog years.

Gender: Believed to be male.

Species: Barghest Link!
Appearance: He has the eight eyes of a spider and the size of a bear. He is a wolf in form, but the supposed shadows that surround him flick and blur his image. He has the teeth of a shark and long, deathly sharp claws. The area around him naturally darkens. His eyes do glow red if it's that dark.

Personality: Surprisingly, Xerc is actually quite calm and passive towards others. He does have the surprisingly deep and human voice, but that and his image is all that makes him scary. When he's pissed, he wouldn't mind ripping off a few heads. Most of the time, he keeps his cool though. He isn't easily angered and you would have to find something that really bugged him to make him that mad.

Fear(s): - Too much light in a room makes him whimper either exit it as soon as possible, or sit in a corner and try to make it darker.
- The noise of bells makes him wail in pain and scratch at his ears. He doesn't mind looking at them.
- Any enclosed spaces would make him stiff and whimper, because he fears he would be too large to get out.
- If he sees the sun directly, he retreats to the nearest shadow and stays there, sulking and shaking.

Ability: If a human insults him and gazes at him, then their lifespan will be cut in half until they apologize. This doesn't work on other supernatural beings.
Short History: Xerc used to live in a large forest where the sunlight would never get through the leaves of the large trees. Spending his time as guardian of the forest, life was simple. The area was cold, which he loved and it was dark. He felt protected and often lazed around or played with the little animals that wandered around with him. One day, while looking at the clouds outside of the forest from it's barrier, he had fallen asleep to now find himself in a cold basement that was dark. Honestly, it felt just like home, but with less of the nature.

Other: He has a sweet tooth. That is all.

Name: Bea (short for Beatrice)

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Species: Bumble bee fairy

Appearance:

Bea has two forms. Her first is her more human form that stands at 5' 5" and lacks poisonous stingers. Her wings are still present and are adorably small, though powerful.
Her second form is her full fairy form that stands at a measly 3.5 inches. The stingers extend from her elbows and they are her major form of defense when in a squeeze.

Personality: Bea is a very adventurous and curious fairy, as most tend to be. She is a mainly happy-go-lucky girl and that can sometimes get on the nerves of those around her. When faced with a challenge, Bea will persevere until she eventually succeeds or can no longer go on. She is a stubborn fairy, but has a strong sense of empathy for those she cares about.

Fears:
- Fire - it burns!
- Water - if she gets her wings wet, she can't fly
- Birds - they have a tendency try eating her
- Tight spaces - a little ironic, but she has claustrophobia

Ability: She can survive completely off of flowers in her tiny form, plus she can deliver a very painful sting from her elbow stingers that can, in some cases, paralyze small animals and large insects.

Short History: WIP

Other: Unlike honey bees, bumble bee stingers do not have barbs. This means that Bea will not die after stinging a foe.

Name: Daniel Day Dalton

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Personality: Friendly, cocky, joking mood, doesn't back down easily.

Fear(s): Spiders, cobwebs, darkness.

Ability: Fire dominance (basically fire manipulation but much better, like forming fire constructs, changing properties of fire like from hot to ice cold, even absorbing fire to heal himself).

Short History: Daniel lived in an orphanage ever since he was 5, ever since his parents disowned him after they learned what he could do. Other kids originally picked on him for being different, but Daniel learned to fight back. Eventually the other kids left him alone, and Daniel did things his way, practicing his ability in places where he believed himself to be alone and private.

Personality:
Having always been treated differently by others due to her "talents", Sasha is jaded and cynical in most, if not all situations. And yet despite her sarcastic demeanor, she doesn't think of herself as a bad person. Sure she gets annoyed easily, and sure she can be a bit of a hot head, but make no mistake. Sasha would gladly defend those few who can be called friends with a burning loyalty mostly reminiscent of a hunter's hound.

Fears:
Sasha has an immense fear of spiders, crabs, shrimp, bees, and really just any sort of creature that even remotely resembles a creepy crawley. Further more, she will freak out in thunderstorms and has a great paranoia of being shocked by electricity or tasered.

Abilities:
Despite being human, Sasha actually possesses a variety of animal like characteristics, despite not being a full blooded creature of the supernatural world. One can actually liken her powers to that of a human gone into a feral state, similar to an almost wild-man like nature. Her strength, speed, and reflexes are above that of an average human, and her sense of smell and sight are also vastly superior. She also dons serrated fangs that she keeps hidden from plain sight, further emphasizing that she is more beast than man.

History:
From an early age, Sasha knew that she was different. She would always practice in different activities than all the other kids and loved to spend a great deal of her time outdoors. As time went on though, she found herself drifting away from both her peers and her parents until she finally quit school in the tenth grade and ran away. Ever since, she's been living off mostly on odd jobs or helping hunters catch wild game for illegal profit.

Other:
-Hates being called an animal.
-Earned the nickname "Scruffy."
-Her favorite food are chicken wings of any flavor or variety.
-Hates being near any electrical outlets or tasers in general.

Tack the Cobbler

Name: Lars Kearny

Age: 21

Gender: Male



Personality: Amiable, cooperative, and honest, but impatient, he's a smart boy who goes to lengths to conceal his abilities and regulate his emotions. He learned how to mute any wishy-washy feelings years ago and he doesn't get attached to others easily--still, he loses his temper often and stumbles when trying to cap it again.

Fear(s): Isolophobia, (fear of being alone,) nelophobia, (fear of glass, specifically shattered,) being restrained, chaos.

Ability: Telekinesis, governed by emotions and not by coherent command. He does have some mental reign over it, having learned to keep it in check when he needs to and let go when it's appropriate, yet he doesn't know how to conduct it in a linear, useful way. Usually, things just break around him or go flying, or his hair stands on end ghibli-esque.

Short History: Being born a week early in the back of a van headed to Seattle isn't the most conventional way to enter the world, but that's the way Lars came in. He'd learn in a few years that what's conventional isn't always what you get.
He was a fairly happy child, though his young parents thought their new home in Washington was haunted by a poltergeist during tantrums; it wasn't until he started school and sent a first-grader soaring into a briar bush at recess that they realized he was a bit different. They tried to be understanding, but as he grew into a young man, Lars learned to deal with his problems on his own.
He was studying Law and working as a barista before "collection."

The Collector is knowledgeable in magic so the beings in his mansion were like our characters once but after losing to his challenge their wills were bound to follow his orders. They no longer have free will.

Well, he had us all subdued and then transported to his mansion where he locked us in his basement. The actual specifics depended on the case of who was being subdued. For instance my character was merely drugged but something larger and more dangerous might have to have been shot with some sort of tranquilizer.
The Collector himself though doesn't take part in the actual kidnapping, he merely controls the henchmen who do.

It's up to the person writing. If they want to include how they were taken then they can but otherwise we should all be waking up in the basement by the end of our first post.
I personally am going to include a bit of how she got there but it's mostly going to be the confusion and panic of what's going on when she realizes she's in a basement with people/ things she's never met before.
