IAN
Koshmar’s ThemeIan’s ThemeSocial Status: Ian is not a huge socialite and doesn’t run in popular circles in the academy as he is focused on his studies and running missions the academy gives him. While he is not the academy’s greatest student he is also not the worst. Socially Ian just exists more than anything else as opposed to being part of a social hierarchy
Relations: Ian has few if any friends as his two personalities tend to cause problems with anyone he becomes close to.
General Activity: Ian can be found most nights playing in an Irish pub close by to the academy, any night he is not playing there he can be found at a number of other bars or taverns. Ians daylight hours are devoted to his studies which largely consist of musical and practical subjects. On the nights that Ian is forced to sleep and when he dreams, Koshmar can be found frequenting the favorite hangouts of the more social students of the academy mixing with people Ian would consider well above his social status.
Abilities:
Filipino Stick Fighting- Ian carries a pair of Asps (collapsable police batons) which he is an expert in using in tandem during a fight. As a child of two parents who were never home and a trust fund child Ian had to find ways to entertain himself one of which was learning martial arts which included Filipino stick fighting as well as the sword art behind the stick fighting.
Bok Fu Do- Growing up on the west coast of america meant Ian had access to a form of Western martial arts known as Bok Fu Do which takes the best of several different martial arts and Incorporates them into one effective aggressive martial art originally developed by Richard Lee a student of the Tracey Kenpo system.
Fidrieon is a two piece nickel plated flute giving it a dark black sheen however due to the fact that its a Fragment it also functions and a makeshift escrima stick which is often what Ian is forced to use when combating the supernatural as shifting from playing Fidrieon to fighting with his batons is usually difficult.
Fragment Abilities
Chromatic Fall: By overblowing through a full chromatic fall Ian can force individuals and objects around him away from him. The louder the fall the harder the push. The greater the range the longer the push lasts
Space chord: Ian plays a series of notes which Fidrieon holds, the notes are purposefully dissonant and resound off of each other cause extreme pain in individuals hearing them.
Sharp: Ian invests essence in Fidrieon and the melodies he plays can physically cut his opponents via directed essence expended from Fidrieon
Circular Breathing: By playing a single sustained note Ian can hold an individual in place so long as he continues to play the note.
Growl: By playing a melody and then humming a different set of notes while playing the melody Ian can strike fear into the hearts of those around him causing them to feel the overwhelming need to run from him and the sound of Fidrieon
Fragment Personality: Fidrieon’s personality goes by the name Koshmar and is a (mostly) functioning secondary personality with likes and dislikes. However Koshmar suffers from a moderate form of Sociopathy and Ian suspects that he is responsible for more than a few murders. Koshmar does not normally speak to Ian. When he’s awake.
Equipment: Aside from Fidrieon Ian carries a pair of collapsible metal police batons on his lower back, a .45 caliber Springfield SXD Sub Compact Double stacked handgun. An antiquated weapon in this day and age but very few argue with its agressive nature when it’s in their face
Ian also owns a .300 Winchester Magnum rifle with a 22-inch barrel, for those hard to get to individuals.
Personality: Ian suffers from a phobia known as Oneirophobia or the fear of dreams. Fidrieon’s personality, Koshmar, manifests in Ian’s nightmares. While Koshmar does not have an actual form it takes the form of whatever nightmare Ian is having (Ian never dreams he only has nightmares). While Ian is trapped in this nightmare or the deep sleep that occurs after the nightmare Koshmar is free for the next eight to twelve hours to take control of Ian’s body. While this makes most think Ian suffers from multiple personality disorder this isn’t actually the case. Koshmar is not a part of Ian’s personality it is actually a separate entity.
Ian is an unsocial, generous ,generally happy, and caring person who focuses on his studies and missions for the academy typically at the exclusion of his social life. The one exception to this rule is Ian’s frequence of Irish Pubs where he plays in the evenings since he typically only sleeps every 24-72 hours for fear of having a nightmare. Ian tends to become less and less social as his time awake comes to an end as his fear of sleeping and dreaming makes him frustrated and angry which causes him to lash out at those around him lending to his status as a bit of a social outcast.
Koshmar is a socially graceful, predatory individual that loves tormenting Ian psychologically. Many of the Academy students have met Koshmar at one point or another and been stunned at Ian sudden change in demeanor and confidence. Often students while get to know and like Koshmar only to interact with Ian and wonder why he doesn’t seem to know them and why he is back to being a less confident socially awkward individual. Koshmar also delights in ruining Ian’s relationships whenever Ian tries to cultivate them. Ian wasn’t always a social outcast but since taking on the power of Fidrieon he has become one as Koshmar drove away or hurt Ian’s friends and loved one as Koshmar never Identifies himself as anyone other than Ian.
Biography: Ian is a rich American kid who grew up as an only child in a family where both his parents worked and generally left him to his own devices. Ian never attended High school though as his parents pulled him from school after junior high as they had lost faith in the education system. Ian was privately educated all through highschool and since his parents generally only directed the core curriculum. As a result Ian took up music and Martial Arts to fill his spare time. Up until this point Ian had been a bit of a spoiled brat but when he started training in his martial arts that was quickly beaten out of him and his current set of character traits started to develope as his martial skills started to do the same. After six years of training every single day for between three and five hours Ian had achieved his second degree in Bok Fu Do. Ian’s rise through the ranks was unprecedented, especially given that in tandem he had been studying street survival techniques and Filipino stick fighting. When he turned 18 his parents were ready to ship him off to a private college to get a degree in some buisness useful subject however Ian refused and instead was admitted to the Academy where he has been studying for the last year.
