Well, I don't agree with most of his theology, but I admire him in some ways. I hope he's fine too, but I heard he has only one lung.

I don't want him to die now, as I believe that he might not like where he ends up after dying.

In my version of Christianity, you can't get to Heaven by being a nice guy, you need to accept Jesus.

Good thing that there's multiple sects of Christianity that entirely disagree with you. Thinking that you know someone's ultimate fate is just hubris and arrogance, plain and simple.

Since I don't accept Jesus, I guess I'm burning in hell. Oh well, I'll probably see you there because you are probably doing several things that another sect that God probably prefers more finds atrocious.

Piety is not the requirement for salvation. Also, saying that I am a dick for having unpopular beliefs is ignorant and arrogant. Also, look throughout history. Although I'm sure there were some Pontiffs that may have been saved, it doesn't mean that there weren't a whole lot of them who weren't adulterers, nepotists, murderers and torturers. I was fine with Benedict, you know. I wasn't convinced he was going to Heaven but hey, he might have been.

Francis, probably not so much. It doesn't mean he won't be in Heaven if he doesn't believe in Jesus right now, or even a fraction of a second when he closes his eyes for the last time. Thing is, that when you close your eyes for the last time, you can't tell anyone else what you believe anymore. Maybe his "Piety" as you put it, won't get in the way of him finally accepting the Lord as the way to Heaven when he breathes his last breath, but you know, when the VATICAN, which agrees with quite a lot of what the Archbishop of Rome has said for hundreds of years, argues with you about Athiests making it to Heaven as long as they try, as Francis put it, you know that something's off-kilter even for the Catholic Church.

No. In fact, I'm glad the Pope is just fine. I don't want anything to happen to him. I believe his theology is giving people an excuse to combine the Church, both Catholicism and also all other denominations into the rest of the world's religions. I am concerned for his well being, since he seems, at least, to have a sweet spirit of humility and precious compassion.

Neither of which gets him into Heaven. Even a man who can be more ethical than Oskar (spelling?) Schindler, more Saintly than Florence Nightengale, and morally wise as Confucius can't get into Heaven in and of themselves. God is needed, directly.

Which is why I"m elated to hear Francis is doing well. God could use a man like him, with his generosity and moral sincerity, he could do what no other Pontiff in most of Catholic history has done, Christianize the Catholic Church. Totally.

In other words, put back in the Fourth Commandment into the Ten Commandments.
Abolish Marianism. ((Pope John Paul II trusted in Mary to get to Heaven, but he was Saved genuinely prior to his statement in Mary getting him there, so he's Saved if that's true).
Uh. . . and maybe change the Mass, the Eucharist into being a real Communion. Mass, is presented as cannibalism as it is done and believed in right now for the Roman Catholic Church. The whole body and blood of Jesus thing is metaphorical. He is not advocating Zombie-ism for the Human race.
