Bios: Pseudo-Mage
Name: Parwan Moroi
Age: 19
Appearance: Moroi is half Japanese/half Romanian. His facial features mostly suit that of a young Japanese male, his mother's influence is strong in his genetics, but his darker skin and blue eyes show off his greek heritage. He wears dark, baggy clothes to hide the scars he has put on himself. Black and deep purple are his favorites colors to wear. He also wears a lot of jewelry: two earrings in each ear, rings through his nose and eyebrows, and a long, silver necklace. His favorite article, though, is the obsidian ring he was given about a year ago.
Personality: Moroi is rebellious, and fanatical about Japanese culture. He loves the mythology and the stories of samurai, and the way they strive towards their goals, single mindedly. He is working on developing a sense of humor, a trait his family did not prize as he was growing up.
Abilities: Moroi wasn't born with his abilities. Magic doesn't run through his blood, like it does in other mages. However, he was given a ring that allows him to use magic. Its affinity is shadow with a lean towards illusions, hiding, and mimicry. His weakest spells use only a short word or phrase. These allow him to make shapes appear out of the corner of the eye or in shadows or to make sounds come out of nowhere, like ventriloquism. However, the illusions only last for a second and disappear if the target focuses on them too much. A longer incantation allows his to fill a room with darkness to hide himself. However, this is a rather obvious tactic. The second level of his magic requires writing a bit of the spell on the target. In this way, he can make people or objects completely invisible. This ability also works in reverse. With a long, repetitive chant, he make make illusion disappear. Each cycle of the chant makes the target spell weaken and fade a little bit. In this way, weak illusions can be dispelled quickly, but strong ones may go unnoticed for hours before they are finally affected. His last ability of mimicry is his only means of offense. After seeing a spell be performed, he can do it himself. However, the mimicked spell is significantly weaker than the real thing. Also, he can only commit a spell to memory for so long. The stronger and more complex the spell, the shorter the time frame in which he can replicate it. He has always compared this power to being able to do something with the directions in front of you, but not knowing where to start without them.
Weapons/Equipment: As a rebellious youth in a strict house and later petty criminal, Moroi has a talent for picking locks. He can spring open nearly any kind of ordinary lockbox or door or safe he can get his hands on, and he always carries a set of lockpics and jimmies on his person.
Brief Backstory: As the son of a Greek ambassador to the island country of Japan, Parwan Moroi was constantly moving back and forth between the two nations, and he hated it. He hated having to pack his things every couple of weeks. Mostly, he hated being treated like luggage. Most parents in this position would have sent their kids to a boarding school to avoid this, but Moroi had to stay around his arrogant father constantly. As he got older, he began acting out. He had nearly his entire face pierced and he began hanging around the kind of teenagers his dad hated the most, the japanese gangs. He constantly sneak out and join up with the mischievous kids, and when locks were put on his doors, he learned to pick them. The last straw was when he landed himself in a japanese jail. No longer wanting to soil his reputation, Mr. Parwan refused to bail his son out and left for Greece without him. It took most of Moroi's pocket money to get him out of that predicament, and he didn't have much left for food or shelter. He took up room in a ghetto hotel and ate crappy fast food for nearly a week. Then, he put his breaking and entering skills to more liberal use, using his plunders to fund himself. After a couple months, he was caught. He lost them for a few minutes by hiding out in an alley sewer, but they were still looking. With nothing left to do, he had begun to accept his fate that he would spend the next few years in prison. That's when it showed up. A small, blue, horned creatured came out of the darkness. It offered him a way out of his situation and gave him a ring and a phrase that became his first spell. He carved the spell into his skin and became invisible, sneaking past the cops. Every once in a while, a request or spell to practice would come to him from the little oni, named Jet, the latest one being to join up with a supernatural detective agency, and he has just succeeded in acquiring the job.
