Damn, shame on me for not seeing this earlier, but I'm a little confused by this. If they don't regulate their media at all, wouldn't there be a lot of defamation, lies, outside influence and dissent screaming over the airwaves? I mean, I understand the average sovereignty citizen's mindset being on a generally uniform wavelength, but wouldn't it cause trouble if someone decided to say something like 'the government are breaking their own laws,' for instance? Surely there would be enough people in the sovereignty that believe whatever is said that it would cause an issue.

My character's backstory might be on the line with this. I'm a little worried.

Also, minor correction from what you said earlier. Shiva is technically still serving her sentence. She's still a convict.

The thing about it is is that they can change the law if they want. You have to remember that they were on their own in the galaxy until quite recently. They have been dealing with rebels since well before first contact aswell. The thing that keeps the general populace in line is the culture the captiluim has shaped over thousands of years. It also helps when you don't feel anything for races that arnt your own. Another thing to keep in mind is yes it is influenced just it is influenced my by the cult of personality surrounding the sovereignty's exsistanse. And yes rebels have always been a problem which they consider worth the price.
