So, um, this is a bit of a collaborative thing between my good friend Rin and myself, and, um, well... here it goes!
Jewelmancers: Powerful magic users drawing on the ability of magical gemstones in order to attain incredible amounts of power. The forms they attain using these gems in conjunction with a special item, the Jewelry Box, are called Regalia. The more Regalia a Jewelmancer possesses, the more powerful they become.
But it's silly to assume that anyone in Hiyokuna City believes in such things. No, the city is perhaps one of the most normal, average places in the whole of Japan. To truly believe in magic is simply ridiculous. No matter what rumors of strange creatures and odd happenings at night may spread. But the truth of the matter is that something has targeted this city. Queen Diamond seeks to subjugate the world for her own ends. And there is only one thing that can keep it safe:
Magical Girls. Jewelmancers, using the power of gems, are the only ones who can protect this city from darkness and evil. Brave warriors of justice who can defeat any monster sent to threaten Hiyokuna City.
But this world has no Jewelmancers.
Who will protect it?
So, um... basically, as stated, our world has no magical girls, and yet magical girls are the only ones who can defend it. There's only one solution:
The RP opens with the girls receiving their jewelry boxes(or in some cases shortly after gaining them). They can appear anywhere, perhaps on a table in a girl's home, or on her route home from school, complete with their first Regalia. In their dormant state, Regalia simply appear as a gem. Any kind of gem, ruby, sapphire, emerald, opal... But when placed into a Jewelry Box, they activate. While Jewelmancers have a dull, black and grey basic form, using a Regalia gives them power. It colors and alters their outfit, and even changes the color of their hair.
And the girls granted these Regalia will gain information, a push in the right direction... but not all of them will decide to use their new power to protect the world. Some may attempt to use it simply for their own gain.
So, um, not all magical girls need to seek to save the world! They might have their own agendas and choices.
Also, for some further clarification...:
Jewelmancer Base form: An initial form, which simply overwrites a Jewelmancer's clothing with a leotard, boots, and gloves. It has no real power to speak of, and is only there to serve as a base for the Regalia to overlay.
Regalia: Upon using a gem, the base form transforms into a Regalia. This Regalia has various changes and additions to the base form, as well as coloring it. It also changes the Jewelmancer's hair color. This is where a Jewelmancer has power. When a Regalia is fully activated, it declares itself with a title. For example, Ruby Regalia is "The Flames of Passion!" Regalia can also be partially activated. This means that a Jewelmancer's hair color will change, and they will gain a power or weapon depending on the Regalia, but they will not gain the outfit that comes along with it.
