I didn't mean to imply you were unable to do the stats. But you're trying to impose a very different system from what most of us are used to, after having played 1861. I'd much rather you get help and keep the system as it is, but I understand your concern with "people getting in the way". Still, I'm not really liking the way this new system sounds. I do agree rewarding IC post quality would be cool though.

Nation tiers. Where you stand is decided not alone by how powerful your country actually is, but also by much of a footprint you leave in international relations and how capable your country is of projecting power, by land or by sea. Tier V is reserved for the uncivilised that aren't the Chinese beast and countries that do not control their foreign affairs.

Tier I: Britain, France, Germany, Russia.
Tier II: US, Austria, Italy, Japan.
Tier III: Spain, Brazil, China, Netherlands.
Tier IV: Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Ottoman Empire, Portugal, Romania, Serbia.
Tier V: Afghanistan, Canada, Persia, South Africa.

Tier I gets two NFs, two normal orders, four war orders, and a treaty order.
Tier II gets an NF, three normal orders, and four war orders.
Tier III gets an NF, two normal orders, and three war orders.
Tier IV gets an NF, a normal order, and two war orders.
Tier V gets two normal orders and two war orders.

Eh, not sure how I feel about it, but I'll roll with it if it's implemented. I kind of like the idea, but I'm not sure it's fair to cut back on people's orders just because they're a small, unimportant country. How are they supposed to ever become relevant when they have to do so one order at a time? Hell, even two orders is pretty crippling.

But like I said, I'll roll with it.

You should probably get a chat with stein going so we can get all these rules on the front page of OOC i.e Nation Tiers and who we send orders to.

I second this.

If we're getting these rules implemented, then let's get them where everyone sees them ASAP.

That was the plan, but I'm 6/8 of the way sure he'll accept it.

@Dutch. for the sake of fairness, can we change Tier 5 to one NF? If anything that would lessen the paragraphs you have to write by a grand total of 4.

Yeah I wasn't saying he wouldn't accept them its just so that everyone gets to see them and they are not drowned out in the OOC.
For instance some people are still asking who to send orders to ...

EDIT- btw what is a treaty order? Is that like when you have a treaty giving away land you will use that order?

Is it possible for a nation to rise in Tiers? I'm happy being Tier II, but I'm still curious.

Tier V would lose an order.

Yeah. As I said, your tier is not only determined by your power but also by how relevant you are. If you get a bigger navy and do more in international politics, you'll rise a tier. For instance, the USA is at tier II but is in a position to get to Tier I very quickly.

An order reserved for a treaty.

Oh, don't begin. We had a Canada beelining towards independence just to get more order slots.

Which is not to say you're not allowed to win.

How are tiers determined? Like I agree that historically some nations have more of an imprint than others, but whether a nation is Tier 3 or Tier 2 could be a matter of opinion as opposed to factual.

How is the projection power determined? What stats are being used to determine the the tier system? Or is it just opinion?

@Pasta: I think he said it depends on how much of your influence your nation is able to impose upon others. If your nation is constantly ending people's wars with diplomacy, it might become more important. Same if.. like, you have a serious hold on resources that make a lot of people dependent on you. And, obviously, if your nation is able to use sheer force to get what it wants, it'll probably be somewhere high in the tier scale.

But I imagine that being active on the world stage would help too. Even if it's just getting involved in international topics.
