Megumi hadn't followed them in, standing at the door frozen. "Room at the end of the hall..." Bane looked up and said "I can walk James...you better stay with her..."

James just shrugged. "Alright." He simply dropped Bane on his ass before turning around and walking back to Megumi. "Hey...you okay? You don't have to come in if you don't want to...we could always find another place..."

Bane sighed and got up using the wall muttering "Man...its one way or the other.." He made his way down the hallway as Megumi shook her head and said "No its alright...this is the best choice...its just...whenever I would open the door I would always father's voice...and now...knowing that I won't hear it..." She lowered her head, a couple tears falling from her cheek. She knew she was being silly but she couldn't help it. She may have a god inside of her but she was still human.

James let out a quiet sigh before grabbing her hand, lightly gripping it. "As I told you before...I'm here for you, okay? No matter what it is you need help with, whether it be comforting you or anything else I'm here." He softly smiled at her as he spoke, hoping to reassure her that he really was there for her if she needed anything.

She looked at him, her eyes wet with tears. She nodded and she took a deep breath then walked into the house, letting the breath out as she did. She closed her eyes then the tears came streaming down. "I never got to say goodbye James...he never knew how much I loved him or how grateful I was he took me in when I was alone...he didn't know any of it...I never told him and now...I never will..." She covered her face, falling to her knees

James crouched down and pulled her into a hug. "I'm sure he already knew..." he said quietly. "You know, we're actually not that different, you and I." He let out a chuckle, but it was obviously not one of amusement. "We've both lost so much, just because of people who don't understand us. We both have something we never asked for, that is both a blessing as much as it is a curse." He gave her a sad smile. "You know...I felt the same way at first...after finding my parents' bodies on the ground after the massacre...I don't remember who talked me out of my depression, but I can at least tell you the same thing that person told me. Your dad is probably watching us from the Pure World right now(the Pure World is the afterlife in Naruto). If I had to guess, I'd say he's just happy you're safe..."

Megumi looked at him, her eyes red. "You think so? DO you think his...proud of me?" She had been feared in the village, the only peace she had was her fathers love and guidence, and now it was gone.

James gave her a reassuring smile. "Yeah. I think he's completely proud of you," he said.

[MegaraFoxfire]

Megumi smiled weakly then wiped her eyes as she said "We better get some dinner started...I'm sure you and Bane are starving after all the work you've been doing..." She stood up, looking around the house and said "Father had a food storage somewhere..."

James chuckled. "I don't think you want me near any food storage. According to everyone else that's seen me eat, I eat way too much too have the stomach of a human. Personally, I don't think 15 plates is a whole lot..."

Megumi giggled then said "If you can go check on Bane for me I'll get something cooking" She patted his shoulder then moved to the kitchen, taking off her jacket and tossing it over a chair. She picked up a apron and tied it around when she walked out of sight.

Bane was curled on the bed, his head killing him. He felt strange, like something was worming thru him slowly. He coughed hard, sweat pouring down his face.

James nodded, then went to go check on Bane. "Hey dude. You okay?" He noticed the way Bane was laying, and the pained expression he has. "Need me to do a quick check up on you to see what's wrong? I may not have the control for medical jutsu but I can at least do the diagnosis one."

Bane coughed and said "Guess I got nothing to lose...how is Megumi doing?" He fought to sit up on his own, his whole body shaking and sweat running down his skin. He looked worse then before. He looked at James, his eyes clouded over again.

Megumi started cooking rice and some meat, taking deep breathes every little bit to keep her grief in check

James's hands started glowing green as he had his hands about an inch off of Bane's body, going over his entire body with the diagnosis, the jutsu telling him every little thing that was wrong with Bane.

A part from the rib damage he got a after the fight he had gotten into and the seal on his chest restraining his chakra the only other thing wrong with him was his immune system was in over drive, working over its limit to fight something not there. Bane moaned, turning his head and coughing again. "James...what's happening to me...I feel strange..."

James sighed. "Your immune system is fighting itself. Its as if your body itself was placed under a genjutsu, and is trying to fight some kind of life-threatening disease that's not even there."

[MegaraFoxfire]

Bane flinched and his eyes glowed suddenly. He was suddenly up and grabbed James, pinning him to the wall. He was shaking, his eyes glowing. "James...I can't...stop it...my body...won't listen..."

Megumi heard the crash and she ran for the bed room, pushing the sliding door open and saying "Bane?! What are you doing?" Bane looked at Megumi and said "Please...stop me...please..." His free hand was grabbing James's kunai, putting it at his throat. Bane fought to move, his arm shaking. "Stop it! Don't!" Megumi waved her hand and said "Shadow style.." But before she could finish Bane turned the blade and stabbed his other arm that was holding James, blood dripping down. Bane was panting, then looked at James. "I don't want to hurt you...please..."

James sighed before doing a sealless genjutsu, the only one he could do because it required so much chakra. "Bringer of Darkness Technique." Suddenly Bane's eyesight completely faded away, leaving him to see nothing as James quickly did a substitution with a pillow on the bed, before grabbing Bane and pinning him to the bed in a sleeper hold, choking him until he passed out before letting him go.

Bane fell against James as Megumi ran forward. "What the heck happened? What did you say to make him attack you?" Bane was shaking, his eyes moving under the lids.

"I...don't know. He said he couldn't control his body. So whatever was him must have caused this," James said. "So whoever it was that put Bane in this condition is probably at fault." He carefully laid Bane back down on the bed. "Hm..."
