Unfortunately, they succeeded to an extent- Unity, the imperfect god. They did exactly what we, and mainly Crona, warned against. The good news is that he more than likely exists on a different wavelength than us, as likely does his counterpart, so they cannot harm us. The bad news is that they could likely change that wavelength, given enough time.

I doubt they considered matching him to our specific range of existing, but he may want to destroy us anyway. Plus, within a few years, the other ultimate power won't even need to, given that he's not killed by Unity. While we were gone, the Background System deemed it necessary to create a natural being of ultimate power.
