Yep! And it's time to start learning the intricacies of hand seals. You'll need to learn how to build up chakra before you'll be successful with this, but basically your goal is to walk across this lake. It's the same principle as the tree running, but since the water moves and flows, and isn't solid, it's much harder. The Tiger and Ram seals are the most useful single-seal ways to charge your chakra. Use them and focus on filling your body with chakra, then direct it towards your feet the way you learned to from tree running. Then try to stand on the water and walk as far as you can. That's the gist of it, and this is the final "basic" method to improve your control.

As you probably noticed, the control you gained from tree climbing was more similar to magnetism, in that if you used too little chakra you'd fall, and if you used too much you'd propel yourself off the tree. But with water walking, you had to be emitting a constant stream of chakra and use the repellent force to walk across the water's surface, and the amount of chakra that needs to be emitted changed constantly. The next step is to do intense meditation where you focus on moving your chakra through your body in its natural pathways but at a faster or slower rate than it normally would. This can also help you learn the nature of the basic hand seals by holding one as you do it.
There are five basic "release" types of jutsu; fire, earth, water, air, and lightning. Each person is aligned with one release type naturally, which they'll have an easier time using. You'll find that Tiger is linked with fire and earth, Snake is linked with earth and lightning, Bird with air, and Dog with water. Once you've gotten to the point you can change the speed efficiently and quickly, you'll be to the point where the best way to improve further would just be learning specific jutsu.
